  1. This is a great thread... I sold my R33 (that had nearly 200rwkw) a couple of years ago because I wanted to buy an mx5, and I can tell you that the mx5 is significantly faster (and more fun) through the corners (and you don't get that weird feeling of the 4WS shifting directions mid-corner) even dead stock. When you add a turbo it doesn't take much extra power to make it go very quick. An mx5 weighs 950-1100kgs (depending on model). An R33 weighs 1350kgs. That's why you lost...

  7. Grill and ecu have gone... Spoiler still available.
  8. This is a bit of a coincidence but I saw (and tell me if everyone knows about this already) a red 33 s1 on the side of the centenary hwy outbound just before the Mt Ommaney exit on thursday (might have been wednesday) morning on my way to work... Drivers door looked like it had been opened with a crowbar and door and rear quarter were both farked... That just sounds a little similar to what they said on bc...

  10. Saw today a purple r32 gtr with chromies on a tow truck at the sherwood shell servo... Beautiful colour...
  11. I just found out that I have to work Monday so as I'll be getting up at 5am I prob won't be able to go to BDO tomorrow. If anyone wants my ticket they can have it for $150. If no-one wants it I guess I'll go see the spazzys and a few others in the afternoon but it'll be a bit of a waste.
  12. This isn't a very sensible suggestion... Most people need a licence. Does this mean that all driving laws are correct? And all speed limits set on every road are appropriate? Mostly I just have a problem with the way traffic cops here enforce the laws, targeting certain groups and certain offences that often have little to do with road safety and ignoring things on the road that are blatantly unsafe. There are good examples in the rest of this thread and a hundred others like it.
  13. I don't think everyone should be so quick to write off somebody's driving just because they are doing 175. This is very fast and in many cases excessively so and dangerous but there are certainly a number of roads around where its perfectly safe to do this. And just because someone is 19 and a p-plater in a turbo import doesn't mean they are a dangerous driver. IMO there are 4 things that effect the speed you can safely travel at:- - Road conditions (eg potholes, bumps, sharp turns, residential areas, schools etc) - Weather conditions - Driver abilities (and attitude) - Vehicle capabilities I recently got back from Germany and was amazed by the roads and the authorities attitude over there. On the autobahns there is in many cases no speed limit and cars regularly do up to 250. And there accident rate is better than ours! The roads are kept in excellent condition and the police concentrate heavily on things such as drink driving. The government has trained people to think that driving anywhere over the speed limit is terrible but speed is the main factor in only a very small percentage of accidents and many of these accidents could be prevented by having better trained drivers and attempting to change their attitude so they recognise when they may be getting into a dangerous situation. It makes me angry to think that people are dying in accidents that could have been avoided if the people who write our laws had an ounce of common sense in regard to their direction on traffic safety. If the goverment here was serious about saving lives instead of making money they would completely revamp driver training and equip people with the knowledge to handle their cars in normal and difficult situations. Hope no-one minds too much me giving my 2 cents...

    Black 350Z

I saw this girl one night a few months ago cruising into town along the centenary highway. I slowly passed her and looked over to discover a cute as brunette driving. She smiled and booted it and I booted it after her (and beat her ). Definitely nice to see young girls driving fast cars! Those 350Z's look gorgeous in black too! (Just needs a turbo.)
  17. I did this run yesterday without realising we were going to do a cruise there. Took a bit under 4 hours taking it easy some of the time with a lot of traffic coming into Brissie. It's a great drive especially the bit at the end of the Nebo road after you turn towards Kilcoy. Real GT stuff. Theres also a really nice stretch of windies on the Mt Mee road with beautiful camber. Lots of fun to drive. And everyone knows how much fun the Nebo run is (although I nearly died one day trying to keep up with a 4wd 911 through the rainforest part in the wet.) Looking forward to the cruise.
  18. Speaking of chicks driving nice cars; I was coming home from work last night about 10ish along the centenary highway inbound and passed a beautiful black 350Z being driven by a cute as blonde girl, looked about early 20's. Gave her a wave and booted it up the road and she pulled out and did the same and then turned off at indro. She's obviously doing pretty well for herself to have a car like that! Still had nothing on the line though!
  19. I was planning on being there this weekend but found out today my car needs a new engine. Won't be ready till sometime next week. Not happy...
  20. Yeah, that was me... Is yours the black one with the stealth rear spoiler? If so i've seen you round that area a few times. Nice car - love the black lines... And that was me too... I remember seeing you. Gave you a wave as you went past. I'm always out and about in the Indro - Kenmore area so say hi if you see me. Just got a new computer, boost control and fmic so car is running pretty well! A couple of weeks ago I saw an R34 GTR driving along Moggill Rd in Kenmore late at night... Beautiful car, not sure of the colour as it was dark but think it was red (maybe?). Definitely a GTR though as it had the pumped out guards. Anyone seen it around?
  21. I thought the finish was excellent - a lot better than I thought it was going to be, in fact. Very glossy, and you can't see any break lines in the fibres where they used more than one sheet (if they did). I got the one they advertise for the series 1, with the vents over the radiator and above the turbo (fair bit of heat comes out of that one). I actually had to wait a few weeks for one to be available cause they sold out and were waiting for a new shipment. They said that they go pretty quick - don't know how accurate this actually is... I think they're pretty good if you can justify the price (they definitely look best on a white car, I think) but I can tell you that since I got it (only a week ago) I've been stared at by every single copper I've passed regardless of what they were doing and I think I'm going to be pulled up a LOT more than usual (which is not very often at all). We'll see...
  22. My advice is to stay well clear of keep left signs late at night if you don't want to need to replace your bonnet! :uh-huh: *Trying to learn from past mistakes...* At Least it was a good excuse to spend a ridiculous amount of money on mods...
