  1. The whiteline swaybars made a world of difference to the handling of my Supra. However, you should know these are solid bars instead of the hollow bars made by Cusco and Tanabe. These are more than twice the weight of the original hollow bars on my Supra but for the money, nothing beats them.
  2. I slipped my hands under the seat and yanked with all my might. I am 100% sure that even if I pulled until the chassis twist, the damn seat will still not be coming out. Now I'm getting my hydraulic jack.... Can someone please explain how exactly is the lower seat held down to the chassis? I can feel that it's got two struts going down each side of the front edge but I can't see what actually is holding them in. Are these clips? I assume once the lower seat is out, it should be easy to undo the two bolts holding the upright and it'll just slide up and out? Many thanks Michael

  4. Apart from different ECU, wiring, and different compression ratios you also can't just bolt the turbo manifolds to the NA block but I can't remember exactly what's the technical reason. The block is also different as there are oil squirters in the turbo models to cool the underside of the pistons. The NA block don't have this feature. Ask your friend to check out www.mkiv.com. There's loads of info on mkiv and conversions. "Easiest" (and that's a relative term) way is to put in a 2JZGTE with harness, computer and the 6 speed but the conversion cost is not cheap. Economically, it might be cheaper for your friend to sell his NA and buy a turbo. Also check out the SX Engineering's website. I think they are developing a turbo kit specifically for NA Supras. Hope that helps.
  5. ... and don't remove your GT500 wing. They're very expensive. I've been looking around for one that's exactly the same design as yours (i.e. low support on far ends) and the cheapest carbon VARIS sells in excess of the equivalent of AUS1,800.

  7. S***, and I'm about to bring back my Supra to Sydney... I've owned it for more than 2 years overseas and I'm bringing it back under the private import scheme. Does the same strict rules apply to private imports? Nothing's original in my car as you can see from the pic. Seats, cams, turbos, fuel sys, fuel computer, intercooler, piping, you name it, I've changed it. Don't tell me I've to remove everything to bring her in!!! How about cars that are more than 15 years old? I've got a 89 32GTR that I also intend to bring back probably the year after next. This one has a pair of TD05s in it and a 2.8 litre block so returning it to stock is totally out of the question.

  9. Sorry, this must be really irritating. I recall seeing a recent thread on this but can't locate it. So here's the question again, how do you remove the damn thing? I need to get some signal lines and 0-guage wire to the amplifiers at the back. I've slipped my hands under the seat but the metal plate at the back seems inpenetratable. Many many thanks in advance.   10. Jay, missed your assumption that you're spinning all the way to 100kph. Yes you're right if your car's spinning all the way to 100 but I doubt many performance cars on the street can lay that sort of claim. My BPU++ Supra puts down 415rwhp on 98 Octane fuel which you might say, is not a lot, but as a guideline this car will chirp its wheels in second gear with ETC off and settle down at around 70kph but it is still unable to spin its wheel all the way to 100kph. If a GTR is to do that on all 4 wheels, I guess we're talking about at least 600rwhp Hence for most mere mortals, I think the RSM should work just fine.
  11. That's not true at all. Your wheel spinning at the start up is irrelevant unless you're measuring 0-400 times. Why? because in calculating 0-100 times you're not measuring distance, you're measuring how fast the wheel is spinning in order to attain a speed of 100kph. Say you're running 235/35/18 with an outer tyre diameter of 26 inches, the RSM will be looking for a wheel rpm that when multiplied by pi X 26/0.0225 (inches to metre) x 60 (min per hour) will give you the figure of 100,000 metres/hour. The RSM will stop when it detects that your wheel is spinning at that speed so unless your wheels were spinning at this ridiculous rpm right at start up (in which case you'd already be looking at the scenery sideways), the RSM can't be confused by the wheel spinning.
  12. Then you lose the 4wd. Believe it or not, one of the Japanese tuning house has stuck a RB26 under a Supra hood and is racing the mutant with some success. To give credit where credit is due, its relatively easy to spin the RB26 past 9k but doing even just 8k with a Supra will be much harder because of its long stroke design. The 6 speed has also got much shorter ratios meaning that if you're racing a GTR from a rolling start, when you shift from 2nd to 3rd, the guy next to you is right smack in the power band pulling a car length or two on you before your 3rd shift is complete. That's assuming both cars have similar power of course.
  13. Why would that be? Assuming that you've correctly imputted the size of wheel, should this be a more accurate way of judging when the car actually hits 100kph compared with the accelrometer in the G-Tech? Just an observation, I have an Apexi RSM installed in my Supra and a G-Tech to take between cars and under the same conditions, the readings can be up to half a second apart with the G-Tech readings being the faster one. My times are 4.7 to 5.1 (according to the RSM) depending on conditions as traction is a BIG problem with the Supra even with S03s. I can't tell for sure which one is more accurate but I tend to trust the RSM numbers more just because it is reading off the wheels.
  14. I own a mkiv TT and a 32 GTR and I can tell you from experience that the Supra engine wins hands down. Torque from the 2JZ is enormous from 2,000rpm and pulls like a freight engine to 6,000rpm. It flats out after that. The stock RB26 doesn't pull untill well past 3,500rpm and my modded one doesn't move until after 5,500 rpm. As a daily street machine, a BPU++ Supra eats anything in its path.
