  5. Unless you have an aftermarket cover I dont think its plastic. Mine is pressed metal and so are most others i have seen. As for leaving it off its your call. Plenty have done it, i chose not to simply because i believe the shit and grit from everyday driving would prematurely wear the alloy cam gears and or the belt.

  8. I had my surge tank built externally, it is mounted above the diff housing just off centre to the drivers side. Mick from signature performance has built several of these and to date they are bomb proof. totally legal too.
  9. Mark backed it up today with an 8.75 and an 8.8. may have been more but we left early. Tony Wedlok debuted the 2j solara today as well. Farkin impressive. Nailed it to just over half track then got out of it and still ran a mid 7. Made a few of the bogans take notice. On a stranger note, Theo was 1 km away playing dyno queen at the power cruise, I would have thought he wouldnt miss an opportunity to get in some runs this close to the nats.

  14. thats sweet mate. The cam gears are untouched at this stage, Not going there till the power tune. Let me know how your hi boost tune goes, it sounds very similar to my setup. 399 at only 17 lb is awesome. Good luck with it.

  16. Sorry guys, i am having too much fun driving it. Its on a basic low boost run in tune at the moment. 330 rwhp at 6900 and .8 bar of boost. Its a ton of fun to drive. Still so much left in it its just ridiculous, The power curve hasnt even bugun to taper and thats with no timing and a rich tune. I told mick I wanted 400 rwkw at 25 lb of boost. "you wont need that much boost on this engine to get that figure" was his response. !!WOOOOOOOOT!! I think i may reevaluate my street boost too. I was going to run it around 18 lb but after seeing how willing it is to make the numbers i will probably settle for about 1 bar. Off to drive it again. Cyall. OH! the redline will be 85000 rpm on full tune.

  18. Low boost will be 18 lb for daily and 25 lb for hipo Adam. thats what it was built for and it will do it all day long unless i am mistaken. It has all the gear to do it and do it safely. The engine has a good feel to it. I think its a winner. I am going to predict somewhere around the 375/380 rwkw on hi boost.

  22. I*ts still fighting, Longest labor pains i ever saw. mick the magician is working through the bugs one by one. Couldnt get it to rev past 4500 initially. Brand new plugs were cracked, one completely broke when we pulled it out. Fixed that. got it running, dosed it to 5000 rpm and it went spastic, 30 lb of boost and mass power. WTF. Seems some clown hooked up the wastegate incorrectly. I think the cat did it. Fixed that and started real time tuning. almost there with the run in tune. Had to turn it off because of the noise curfew. Still way rich, no timing, low boost at 6900 rpm making 296 hp atw. Gonna finish the run in tune tomorrow morning. gotta love micks final shot before the night. "f**k this thing is gonna make some fat when we start power tuning" hmmmmm, Aint that what we built it for. :laughing-smiley-014:
  23. what he said plus the lower profile tyres are generally of a more square shouldered design so they bounce off the edges of the ruts left by traffic and wander back in to the trough. You will get used to it.
  24. Its just being strapped to the dyno as we speak. new set of plugs will be here within the hour and then its vroom vroom.
