I currently have a small sized sealed gel battery.... thinking that getting an optima might not be a bad idea. Do HID's consume more power than a decent stereo? I wouldn't be worried about extra weight on the gtr since I don't track it, and I've already invested in sound deadening which made the car a bit heavier. Not too worried about that, if I want it lighter I'll just eat less curry Atm the batt is on charge, and is reading 12.5v, we'll know tomorrow how good it is. But you're probably right, I've had the battery since I got the car a year ago, and had the alternator fail a couple of times (dodgy rebuild imho, has been ok for the last 9 months).. -D

Heyas last nite i was playing around with my head unit for about an hour at a reasonably loud volume and today my battery is reporting 10 volts (and the car wont crank over subsequently). I was wondering several things a) Is a single car battery ample enough for listening to audio when the car is turned off or do I need a second one? b) I have a sealed gell battery atm, should I be replacing it with a conventional lead/acid battery or something more fancy? c) I'm aware that cranking amps are required for the starter motor, but what do u need for continuous drain when off? lots of amp hours? d) If two batteries are required, how would you set it up and what types of batteries would you use? Would you use lead/acid or gel for the engine, and a deep cycle for the amp/speakers/headunit/accessories? I ask as I like to go to the drive ins occasionally, and having the amp and speakers on for 4-5 hours will certainly drain my batt if last nites use is any indication. Atm I have my battery on a charger so it may come good, but incase I need to replace it, I'd like some suggestions. Thanks -D

Yeah that looks hot. Wings look good as long as theyre a compliment and not a distraction... The lower GTR wings look awesome imho, I'm not a huge fan of the other two due to the trailing fairings on the sides. Not a fan of drift wings either... Yr car looks pretty good atm, you'd wanna make sure its a complimentary addon... -D

Assuming you mean rims, i believe it varies depending on what model of 33 u have (offsets and what not, stuff I have no idea about). I know the R34 GTR Rims will fit an R32 GTR and thats about it. Not sure if they'll fit 33's or GTS-T. Depends what rims you actually want to put on there, and whether or not yr guards have enuff room for em -D

Saw a black/dark blue 33 gts-t with a sau sticker on the passenger quarter window. turning from grenfell into a sidestreet (same one that has the carpark near the old RAA building). I was the dude in the red business shirt trying to read the plates -D

Cool, you'll find that ET have pretty good prices and they're quick too. I got my zorst done while I waited, took less than 2 hrs for them to mod the angle, mount it, add a resonator and get everything welded. top people imho. -D

I dont care about what the masses want, either case I'll go and watch speed racer at the drive ins. Anyone who wants to join me is free to do so, hell, i might even take a little hotplate an a pack of sangas n we can pimp sausage and bread while the mack hard the large screen movie. -D

Amen to that. Ex's have been bitchy over the littlest stuff I'd spent on cars, but do u think I ever gave a crap what they were spending on their blahniks or vuitton ? hell naw sad thing is, everyone who sees my car assumes im using it for mackin' hoez. totally not the case. (as if a dude like me could mack anyhow haha) after the last ex, i dont care much for the headf**ks, i'd rather blow the cash on more kilowatts... OT meh. In either case, Kellies cruises are dope, cos shes mackin', and the meet spot is thugged out. and if we can rep our clique legit we might mack a milly for those that nought be illin silly... ya feeel? -D

Heh, either way, Im gonna go see speed racer at the drive ins. Its a shame the drive ins have all slowly died. back in the 50's, they were hugely popular with the street rodding scene... The meets kellies done over the last couple weeks have been damn cool (i only went to the 1st one but seeing the pics, the turnout on the 2nd looked just as good), and a run to the drive ins would be cool on occasion, perhaps we could even ring ahead and get some reserved parking positions as a grp... would love to see speed racer, or indiana jones or whatever. im a sucker for movies so id go to any drivein pretty much -D

Absolutely. Im waiting for the 3rd gen EEE and I'm gonna chuck HaikuOS (BeOS) on there... ASUS aren't a huge name like sony, but they manufacture the majority of their components. They've also been one of the fastest growing companies in the last 3 years, so they might be experiencing some growing pains (the occasional lemon) but I have had more problems with MSI and Acer than I have ASUS. New EEE is gonna have a bigger drive, more memory, bigger screen, HSDPA (nextg modem builtin) and rumors of integrated GPS are flying around. Definately a good buy for the car, esp coupled with Conzult... -D

Saw a Silver 32 GTS-T with GTR Bar+Wing turning onto the main road of Hahndorf this arvo around 1pm

Yeah lockup carport, alarm/immob, all that stuff. I'm rating one, but im 29 (as opposed to Mr Sled who is a good 12 months older than me ) Also have a couple of speeding tickets and no second policy, and the cars put down as a daily driver and not a weekender... -D

Just got a quote from Shannons for the GTR. Agreed value $25k... they want $1785 a year. As opposed to Justcar who want $1585 (for $21k max >).... difference being Shannons are ok with mods, will payout on sound systems up to $3k, and most importantly, choice of repairer. I told them about my speeding tickets, and they didnt refuse me a policy offer. I'm 29 this month so age is probably a key. Going to shannons tomorrow for the inspection cause I'd like to put it past $25k due to the amount of shizzl i've spent on it. not counting consumables. ;P Either way, they seemed rather nonplussed about my speeding fines and the fact I've got some minor mods and intend to do more.. I like the monthly payment option. Sure beats putting $1.7k on the plastic -D

Take it to Lam at Notepaq on Torrens road (Same side as bombay bicycle club but a little further down). He's pretty good at what he does. -D

Anyone really. Laptop drives and memory are easily user serviceable. Unscrew the backplate on the underside of the laptop and remove the existing ram chip, replace with SO-DIMM 2gb. Hdd's are usually accessed via the side, so find the screws underneath the laptop near the edge and then pull the hdd out of the side of the pc (it'll be in a caddy so u have to remove it from the caddy and then add another.) Don't buy a HDD until you know if you have parallel or serial ATA. Don't buy RAM until you know if you're running DDR1 or 2. If you get real stuck, I can probably do something on the w/e -D

I disagree. Most of them are pretty solid. Sometimes you get a lemon tho, so their Q&A team needs a kick up the arse. Stag closed down 6 months ago when they went into recievership. If its ASUS its probably from Leader computers, give someone there a call and ask them what the situation is for non-warranty repairs. They usually have a decent warranty tho, and from what was described, it could be faulty ram or a power regulator. Both would be covered. I can't say I've noticed the laptop hdd's having problems, tho I personally replace all 4k/5.2k RPM drives with 7200 rpm drives. SSD drives will be better once they're cheaper. Can't really blame ASUS for the HDD failures in either case as they dont make the drives (you can thank samsung for that iirc). Get a western digital and you'll notice a lot of speed increase. Same with a decent 2gb stick of ram. Either case, what you described should be taken care of under warranty. I believe they have 2 years standard with 3 and 5 year warranty options upon purchase. Best to dig yr reciept out and make the vendor do the hard work for u. -D
