An Amicable Discussion On P Platers And The Law.
Marco-R34GTT replied to blaizer's topic in Western Australia
I know you didn't.. What I'm saying is this. The fact that they have obtained a license in the first place shows they have (under the current system) gone through: 1) A 30 question multiple choice theory test 2) Some kind of supervised driving leading in preperation for further testing (its mentioned that 100-120 hours is something to aim for) 3) A practical driving test with a licensing examiner 4) Log book driving for 6 months with a minimum of 25 hours driving across various conditions 5) A hazard perception test Are all crap, it is all utter bullsh*t.... What I was doing was making a comparison of what it takes for a pilot to attain their license over a person wishing to aquire their drivers license... What percentage of people with their motor/car licenses would be in total ignorance of such things as aerodynamics? aerofluidity? body roll/load transfer? centre of gravity? vehicle dynamics? power delivery? oversteer? understeer? tyre scrubbing? aquaplaining? -
Unstable enough that you voted for Kevin Rudd in the federal election dismantling a liberal administration that had filed contunious buget surpluses, initiated the future fund, and bought about stable yet progressive economic growth??? Hmmm... To the point where you'd elected a corrupt kleptocrat, a government full of 'bent fences'.. The labour party has been riddled with contunious and unabated suspicion, a government that has fallen short of providing for the needs of this state, the labour party's plan to better this state's infrastructure have been laughable.. Warter shortage? Power shortage? Ridiculous urban traffic flows? Piss poor public transport? Poor ADSL coverage... Yep, good going labour..

1) Crap. 2) Crap. 3) Crap. 4) Crap. 5) Crap. Do have any idea what a prospective pilot has to go through, the kind of rigourous training and theory (not to mention cost) required to attain a pilot's license?? I'm not saying getting a car license should be anywhere nearly as difficult, or expensive. However if it was a tenth of content, difficultly, theory and expense, I'd be a happy man. THAT would make a difference.. -
Barnett not competant... Bit of a wild stab don't you think??

I agree only to a certain extent, putting young people into a cheapo, underpowered hack only reinforces the 'it is a cr@p car and I don't give a sh1t' that is just as damaging as the one you outlined... Well, that is only from personal experience anyway, I felt that way about my VL hack, I got nicked by the coppers, got slapped with a summons and learnt the hard way, problem is, many young blokes DON'T learn.. Sigh.. What can you do.... -
Any news from Blacksun/KYP on the intercooler stuff???

Ok, since I've noticed (and contributed) to the P-Plate thread becoming somewhat political, I thought it would be a good idea to throw up a poll to see how things are leaning politically in SAUWA.. Just to get an idea on the trend from the previous election until now, I've also included a 'previous election' part, then we can measure the 'swing' between various parties. 1 vote only, no preferences. Thanks. Also, discuss your views, keep it strong but civil. Cheers.

Considering firstly he isn't even in power yet (ie: leader of the opposition), secondly, he has lead the WA libs before, he is no stranger tot he job, and thirdly, He's got years of experience in the parliment and understands the political system inside and out. Carpenter on the otherhand is a washed-up ex journo that leads a party that is essencially and utterly corrupt from the core. John D'orazio: Brian Burke: Brian 'Mr essencially corrupt ex-premier' Burke Ljiljanna Ravlich: Hmm, a party with a leader that is about as robust as a bubble, a failed business man for a treasurer, a former minister of education that did everything in her power to impose upon the education system, a new means of grading students that proved vastly unpopular with both parents and teachers. At the point where OBE finally came into force, it was withdrawn under immense public pressure. We had an ex-minister for police that engadged in corrupt dealings with a disgraced ex-premier and also was shown to be a complete hypocrite by holding the police and justice porfolio whilst cruising the streets of Perth, in a tax payer funded vehicle, without a valid drivers license... That is just the tip of the iceburg... Give me Colin's Kimberley Canal anyday... -
There where times where Barichello well and truly deserved the win over Schumi, but 8 out of 10 races, Schumacher was superior anyway.. Funny thing is, I remember McLaren, team and fans alike, cried, hissed and booed, calling for Todt's/Schumacher's/DeZemolo's head after the 2002 Austria bullshit, funny how the irony becomes completely cyclical....

Please Schumi come back... Shovel-fulls of humble pie required...

Hmmm... Left of centre policies... Confiscation of personal property by the central government.. Draconian and unjustified law-making.... False, biased and totally unsubstantiated propaganda in order to instill fear into the hearts of the voting masses, labour (unionist) parties at both federal and state levels, not to mention the deputy PD is a ginger... Anybody sense the red mist descenting over our country??? Sounds like we are heading for this... Be afraid be very afraid... Better dead than red! -
Went down today, I like the look of flex ey... More of a 'back to basics' sort of a gym, definately more 'substantial' than FF...

Oh, and you've met every single WA P-Plater and know them in person... You, like the government, has no idea and no means of understanding the temprement and attitude of each and every driver on our roads today (not just P-Platers).. Don't give me (us) the 'holier than thou' b*llsh*t, doesn't fool me, doesn't fool anyone, you've offered nothing of use to this discussion other than to just litter this thread with some dead-beat rambling... If you are going to make a point, do so with fact and logic... Getting certain cars off the road WON'T work, it hasn't worked over east, every time the screws get tightened anywhere in this country, it makes little impact to the target issues. All that is achieved by government policy makers, and by tools like yourself, is that people that are well behaved (even good P-Platers) get the shaft as we slowly loose more and more of our road going liberties... -

Pleanty of P-Platers, myself included, that have managed to avoid plouging into ANYTHING let alone a pole of some description... I don't think that is fair for those that make an effort to do the right thing, the law should target wrong doers and shouldn't have any effect on those that don't bring harm to people, property (public/private) ect ect.. Hence the reason why I cannot bring myself to align myself with these new proposals, people that do nothing wrong shouldn't be punished, it is utter bullshite. You get caught doing the wrong thing you suffer the consiquenses (like I did), take it on the chin like a man, do your time walking and get on with it.. -

That by no means, should make it any more or less justifiable for the govt to do what they are doing... It would be like banning sex because a minority of people don't wear protection and get teh aids... -

All I can guarantee is that you're not a good speller... For the most part, I agree on both points. New drivers need to learn traffic rules, they need practice and experience driving with other cars ont he road in obedience to road laws. New drivers also need to be better educated in how to handle a car, how to control a car in volatile conditions, and how react in situations where there is minimal/no control. However, I consider P-Plate restrictions as draconian, ineffective, a worthless and frustrating 'patch-fix'. Personally, I believe it to be one step closer to communism... -
