  1. By law... in SA... according to Regency park you are only allowed one modification to the intake. And if you do go pod filter, it must be secure and enclosed. It's all BS really. I've got 4 mods on my intake haha. Yet to recieve a defect. Fingers crossed... Jack
  2. "dont hold back is there anybody out there? feeling something engage me, let me breathe the courage of your actions dont hold back make it before the good the truth is, i am not your cure but i can help you find a way to reconcile the dark" BOOOsT! As long as it is a highflow... lol. Cause I was told mine was, 16psi later. BANNG. I never even found my exhaust turbine OR the shaft haha. Guess thats what you get for running no cat and a straight through exhaust hahaha.... The intercooler and throttle body did a pretty good job of collecting the compressor wheel. On the plus side, I ended up with a sick as $20k portable smoke machine with music. lolz Jack
  3. Dunno what every1 else is on about, I love the colour! Literally. Maybe even brighter though, I can see my 33 in the new holden SS grean. The bright lime green one. haha. Jack
  4. Wow finally read it all, took around 2-3 weeks haha. Awesome thread! Anyhow, I have a spare RB30 short motor if anybody is interested in adelaide. It's a S2 from an R31 and appears to be good condition. I bought it to do the conversion, but have since purchased a different motor to use for ease and because of money. haha. Yeah, its all here minus the sump so if anyone is interested for a conversion just send a PM! Jack
  5. He is asking about wastegate spring sizes and reasoning, not external wastegate sizes....
  6. too late I already bought it Just bought and picked up the rb30e today. Have already ripped i apart, now organising which parts I'm using to send off for machining/balancing and acid dip and paint. yay. Exciting:)
  7. hmm great. lol. Maybe I'll pass it straight on then. Is the housing or anything worth much to me? Can I take it somewhere to have different internals put in and a rebuild? Thanks, Jack
  8. I might just get a high mount manifold? Not sure if I have to or not yet... I never considered it to be an ebay one... How can i check? It's clearly used, but theres barely any shaft play. thanks, Jack
  9. Hey all. I just got hold of a t04 turbo. It is a T3 flange and has Super T70 written on it. Thats about all I know? I paid $600 for it down from $1000 from Grand Auto. Anyway, the problem is, the air outlet is facing the same direction as the exhaust flange, in other words pointing straight at the block. When I locked at the front casing, it looks like it can unbolt and just twist around. Is it that simple? Or is there something that i've missed? lol... Cheers, Jack
  10. Hey all. After endless hours of reading and lots of overtime pay I'm ready to start buying items for my rebuild. As the title says, I need an RB30 S2 block with the oil and water lines drilled factory. I'm after some good cond RB30e pistons. Does anybody know if the rb30e and rb30et conrods are the same? If so I'm after any rb30 rods. And also after the rb30 crankshaft. Of coarse I'm willing to buy a short or long rb30 motor running or not if it is for a reasonable price. Also I would prefere to pick the items up to make the process quick, I'm in adelaide metro and will pay cash. Thanks Jack
  11. lol why were you awake at 3:00am on a Tuesday?? haha. Anyway, my friend converted his commodore using the rb30 manifold, rb25 turbo + adaptor plate, vlt injectors & ecu. Jack
  12. Lol I do .... but I have white rims
  13. Hmm that sucks because its a rb30et I have! Can I use rb25 pistons or something? Or different pistons? Cheers
  14. Dam really? Simon seemed to think it would be around 9.1. Well I wouldn't mind cleaning the block up a bit, so maybe it's worth brand new pistons and get it honed to suit and everything balanced etc. Where abouts is this .pdf file? Sounds like it would help a lot. I didn't say it wasn't covered in the conversion thread, I just couldn't find what I wanted using the thread search over that many posts...... sorry lolz. Jack
  15. yeah ditto until yesterday arvo... It left me with a strong smooth pull until redline, and didn't even have the VCT, as you'd know. lol. Well with doing pretty much all work with this at home, what kind of budget would you suggest for bits an pieced along the way of the conversion? Excluding ecu tune, turbo, and all exhaust sides of things. Just to get the hybrid bolted up and in the car with powersteering and aircon?? Thanks again, Jack. It's not all bad with this I guess... I mean its an excuse for me to get a new turbo as thats all I was missing before, and I'll learn a great deal about the RB's and front half of my car in doing so, even if it does take weeks/months longer than paying a workshop. My neighbour has just qualified as a mechanic at hamilton holden and he is always keen for things like this. He's nearly finished building a forged RB30 VL himself, got an average sized snail hanging on it.
  16. Thanks a lot. I was waiting for the flaming ahhaa. You've just restored faith with my idea. Yeah I have a mappable rb20 ecu atm, which I can get re-mapped for $200 by Jeff. My turbo fell apart on me, 10-11 pounds I've stripped most of the gear off my motor already, found all sorts of shit in the intercooler piping and plenum. I don't even want to compression test my motor, it'll make me cry lol. I was so happy achieving my 200kw, and it lasted two weeks.... I have a fair idea why the turbo's crapped out relating to a car accident a while back, i've been sus about the turbo since then. So my rb25 gearbox and my month old aftermarket clutch will bolt straight up to the rb30 bellhousing? Killer if it does. I was going to give all this a go at home, I've got crane and hoist access and an rb30et so why not I guess, I can't afford to rebuilt the rb25det and I don't wanna waste money rebuilding it to standard specs. May as well give the rb30/25 a shot and see where I end up. Hopefully no more explosions and disco shows hahaha. Cheers, Jack
  17. G'Day. I have searched, and I am aware of the 400+ page thread, but I still can't seem to find my answers and Im not gonna sit here and read 400 pages because the thread search button is a stuborn peice of shit. Right, If I go ahead, I won't run VCT so please dont tell me to tap lines, I don't have VCT now and notice no difference. I want to leave the rb30 bottom stock. Balanced and whateva, but standard parts with new rings and bearings. I'm try to build another motor on the cheapest budget using as much of what I have. Im not chasing huge power, but will enjoy the low down torque and hopefully stronger motor than the rb25. So just a few questions for rb25/30 setups for those that can answer them With the instrument cluster, were there any issues with the revs or speedo after the conversion? Did you keep the air con? And what gearbox did you use? Can the rb25 gearbox be used? I currently have an RB25det head and stock RB30 turbo botton end. If they are just bolted up, will the compression be ok? What headgasket? And I assume an rb25 type of ecu is capable of running it? Thanks Jack
  18. Im keen my car loves photo's
  19. Wtf happened to the post that told me to try the give ways lol. Anyway, I've never had issues obtaining the learners permit. lol. It's funny, I have a cams licence and no real one! $600ish and yea Jeff did it. I agree 100% lol. And im running on 245 bridgestones! Dunno if that was for me, but my next dyno printout will be whateva happens with an EBC (hopefully at least 240kw) and then after that it will be between 280 and 300, will just get it tuned so the power output is between there to help the standard internals a bit. I might get cams when I get the new turbo as well? Will see on the budget.... Thanks all, Jack
  20. 210 will be nice! Yeah you have to pass a practical to get your P's. And it is legal for me to own/drive this car in SA. I'm battling with that thing called law to actually obtain P's though lol. Hopefully this time I'll get them in 5 weeks. (got disqualified last time lol) Cheers, Jack
  21. exhaust technology (casual) and lwa engineering (apprenticeship) Now lets vote who thinks where I get the most money lol
  22. Well to be honest its gonna be tuned to more of a 280kw figure just so theres a bit less stress on standard internals. The turbo is around $2200 and will be made custom by Adelaide Turbo Works in the form of a bolt on. So I'll be looking at $2200, $200 for re-tune and I would imagine Z32 afm or something ~ $300. So around $2700 for my next round of modz.
  23. G'Day all. Just thought I'd share the news Reached 200rwkw on 10psi and 230 on 15! My bleed valves not coping though, boost curve was all over the joint so ended up having it remapped and tuned on 10psi for now until I get an EBC. All I can say is that these cars REALLY come to life at 200kw, and with 230kw at the treads you really do have PLENTY of power to put to use. But never enough, as I'm saving for the new turbz and hoping to hit that sexc 300 figure! Ahhh where do you stop?!? I got the car a year ago today, and planned for an exhaust and thats it. Amazing how things change.... I now have - Blistien shocks front & rear Pedders springs front & rear. 5-puk button clutch Hi-flow standard turbo Bocsh 044 external (or is it 040? im tired... whicheva the external is) Surge tank (DIY, im a welder) Rb20det ECU remapped Splitfires FMIC 3" Turbo back (very high flowin, infact all that can restrict the flow is the cannon lol ) Stainless intake pipe (DIY, im a welder) Im sure theres more, its hard to keep track, and compared to some ppl I havent done that much! haha. Theres other things like clear blinkers, knock off white nismo dials, aftermarket pads and new rotors, resprayed interior silver. Now to get myself down to auto perfection for that tint to finalize it Also in search of a 400R front bumper and gtr wing... Not a bad car for a learner lolz, love the looks I get cruising with mum with L plates up. Thanks for all the help n support over the last 18 months (only been registered about 12 months, but still browsed the site heavily). My car wouldn't be where it is today without SAU so yeah, CHEERS!!!! oh man im happy. lol. Im considering framing my dyno sheet, im proud Worked f*ckin hard with 2 jobs, one my apprenticeship, the last year to afford, maintain and modify my lil blue beast. Ahh the passion......
