  1. I drive the R31 line to work and the R32 line on the weekends... Love the 32 but don't like risking leaving in the street. (The r31 was hit and run) r31 is getting a bit tired though... needs complete suspension work over. (engine runs well @ 260,000km) So I have the same problem...what do I do? Spend $1500+ fixing the r31? or sell it and spend another $4000 - $8000 on a tow vehicle/daily driver
  2. That would be perfect... Vic Roads, courtesy of our current government's policies, encourages traffic congestion. It is good for the reducing road toll. I didn't make this up... David Anderson (outgoing chief Executive of Vic Roads) was quoted as saying "We've used congestion to stop crashes. We've created congestion." (Herald Sun, Friday August 4, 2006. Page 7). Very interesting read.
  3. heheh.. How much do the magnets weigh???
  4. I second that... I broke a Sidcrome breaker bar and a Sidcrome ratchet today on a really nasty gearbox oil plug... Going to buy a bigger break bar tomorrow... And a new gearbox plug...
  5. That link didn't work... Try this one http://www.lancer-evo.net/manuals/misc/r32_manual.zip
  6. I'm also looking for a R32 GTR Gearknob in good condition.. (again, r33 would be ok if it fits) Cheers, Doug
  7. Most of the fake GTRs I've seen are easy to tell by the rear guards. I say if anyone wants to put kits and badges on their GTS-t then let them. I take it as a compliment to a real GTR. Meanwhile, I'll be driving around in my GTR with the badges removed. They'll be driving a up-played GTS while getting creamed by a down played GTR. Suits me.
  8. I don't think he's an arsehole, just dumb as shit. No, actually I take it back... Maybe he is an arsehole... I don't want him to get voted in again, but lets face it, for him to get voted out, Doyle has to be voted in... And that's not going to happen in a hurry.
  9. Voicing up is definately the best option. Yes, it looks like the rule will change, but the change hasn't been announced. It it likely that any changes will make allowance for puchases before the announcement date. If there isn't allowance for previous purchases, then I like many of you will be in for a painful wait, but presedence would suggest purchases before the announcment date will be ok... To be safe, we need to voice our concerns to DOTARS in the mean time to ensure they realise how many of us have purchased on the assumption that a law that has been constant for 11 years, doesn't change with only 2 months notice.
  10. Thanks Joel, I'll check that out... I don't know a lot about the ABS/traction control on the GTR, and the light didn't come on when I braked, but I am worried if something as expensive as this was the cause... Does anyone know what the worst case scenario would be for this problem (pulling to the left when braking)?
  11. Must be different keilor/grey cars, because this was advertised as 90, but was an 89... guys name was Darren, and it had a std exhaust and filter... hmm.. interesting...The black one I saw has supposedly had a 'turbo timer' removed, but there was no mention of a boost controller... I didn't look at the black one too carefully because it had the pods and exaust, and was lowered... Sounds like you've been doing you homework also.. Can I ask what car you eventually bought and for how much?
  12. Yeah Mick, I think I know the two you mean... The black one is in Templestowe and the other in Keilor...? I like the gun metal one, but I am worried that I will loose too much money on it because it is 89.... I haven't driven either one... The black one was quite good, but it did have a strange back-off noise when you rev the engine... I know rb26s are strong, but it sounded a little mettallic... Have you driven either? I am willing to spend up to about $30 (inc on-roads), but really not beyond that... and I really want original or close too... That is why I liked the grey one........ but for the same money I could get the black one, which is 4 years younger. Such difficult decisions.....
  13. Mick, It is in Sydney, Burgandy colour, 1994. I went up to basically buy the car, but this scared me off a bit... Do you still know of any orignal r32 GTRs around? I can only find one in budget, but he wants $27k, and it is a 89, so the 15 rule will probably drop its value at the end of the year. It makes it a difficult time to buy. AtomicBomberMan, thanks for that tip, I'm going to get the car checked out by NRMA, so I'll ask to look especially at the bushes in the control arms... One question though... have you tried rocking the front tyres? This car did not have any end-play that I could find. I'm not a mechanic, but I assume that if the front tyres feel tight then it's not the bushes... Do you have any end-play in your front tryes?
  14. The car is $26k, insurance #3k... Overall, the car is quite cheap for what I'm getting, unless this problem turns out to be serious... AtomicBomberMan, did you car feel tight or loose in the front? Because this car feels tight, which scares me into thinking it may not be the bushes... I will get it checked out though... If it costs me only $700 to fix, then it's still a good buy..
