  1. depends on power needs what size youre after. i find it hard to believe there is much difference between brands of intercoolers however, certainly nothing to justify paying $1000+ (unless youre building a monster car). its just a friggen radiator for the intake. ive got a hybrid. i must say though, invest in good strong hose clamps. i have blown off three seperate sections of hose in the last few months, one of which had been leaking for ages because of a shit clamp. now im going to replace them all with t-bars.
  2. ive got one, i upgraded maybe 6 weeks ago. it was working fine.
  3. 49000km?! thats unreal! looks very clean.
  4. i have a profec b II also, and you cant "set it to 11psi". you set it in percentages of the turbos capacity or something like that. from what i have heard/read, the settings for a certain amount of boost vary depending on your turbo and other mods. ie: if you changed turbos, your previous settings might not get the same amount of boost. whats your high mode set to? mines at 57% but thats pulling 18psi. i figure youd want about 30%.
  5. my s1 does that too, though its a lot more modified than yours. id be interested to see if theres any simple solution. tune your power fc no doubt. but ive only got a remap.
  6. blowing off and scaring pedestrians. SMOOTH windy roads. at night, when everything behind my car is lit up by a giant flame out the exhaust. the fear and appreciation on my mates faces when i blast away from the lights. the nervous and excited laughter of girls when i blast it away from the lights.
  7. truck yeah! how good were the wheel spikes on jeremys car?!
  8. that was my understanding also. they cant prove who was driving the vehicle at the time. that said, its not exactly a responsible course of action. too bad if you stacked it in the process, or they got the chopper out after you. could escalate pretty quickly... youd want to be well practiced in your need for speed skills. a better option would perhaps be to carry a wad of cash in your pocket. how many police, or anyone for that matter, would knock back $5k? JUST KIDDING. if only life were so simple/i had that much money. PS: the above is intended to be non-serious.
  9. its the same as anything really. my skyline has been a one nightmare after the other. but then again, my sisters barina is starting to fall apart now. and at least my cars a lot hotter and more powerful (when its working lol) another thing you should consider is police attention. because that can be a pain in the ass also. and expensive.
  10. that is a fair call. i always make a point of being civil. but lets say they had already made it quite clear you were in for a reaming, i was just considering the idea that if you agitate them sufficiently, they will slip up and do/say something silly. remembering everything is recorded, getting them to admit they are harassing/discriminating could make things interesting. and of course, it may betray that they arent acting objectively. you are right though, best to avoid trouble where possible.
  11. yeh but i hurt my shoulder at work and cant do any heavy lifting... they cant make you open the bonnet or hold it. if they want to have a look then they can do so all by themself. last time i popped it, but the cop actually went to the front and lifted it i think. next time im going to flat out refuse. i figure they cant actually forcibly open your bonnet without a warrant, and i can easily say, "do you do this to everyone you pull over? no? well, ive got more important things to do, you can admire my car another time. good day officer."
  12. obviously it was light-hearted in nature. if they were determined to reap revenue from you im sure a missing bonnet stand wouldnt stop them.
  13. why cant they be friendly copz? "hey mate, sorry for the delay, im required to perform this breath test as part of our drink driving preventative measures. thanks, you can now be on your way. nice 'line by the way." i would be the nicest cop ever. id harass commodores with mismatching wheels, and unroadworthy shitboxes. oh and hatchbacks with cannons.
  14. haha truck yeah! what would they say i wonder?
  15. i finished fabricating a black plastic cover for the pod and bov. i even shifted a sticker so it looks like it was made by nissan lol. stay tuned for pics.
  16. i thought of this today while defect-proofing my car. -remove the bonnet stand -friendly hwp officer (concerned about harmful emissions) wants a look at your under bonnet party -gets a tired arm from holding up bonnet -cant get head down to have a good look around the engine bay -can no longer hold up bonnet -lets you go and defects your oversize wheels instead no bonnet stand ftw!
  17. i tend to get pulled over within the first 30secs. i suppose doing 10km below the speed limit makes them realise i am alert to their presence and am not going to do anything foolish. i often wonder about chugging around in 5th, my car seems to make more noise, low droning boorrrrrr when its in the wrong gear.
  18. i didnt actually get defected or sent for an inspection, thank fk. but the copper said he and another hwp officer live in my close proximity, and had taken note of my car and were waiting to have a party at my expense. i drove past the cop originally and turned off my path in case he tried to come after me (a habit i have gained due to numerous instances of unfair treatment i have received). but when i came back 5 minutes later he was waiting on the side of the road for me, and immediately started following. i turned down a quiet ass back street, just to make it blatantly obvious that i was being targetted, and there was nothing random about the "breath test" and subsequent under bonnet inspection. thankfully he knew bugger all about cars/defects etc. he was going on hols for 2 weeks, but warned that if he heard the bov again after he returned he would get the whole LAC on the lookout for me, with every intention of forcing my baby off the road. obviously i dont blow off near copz, but he lives in the area so would hear it off duty, as he has done before apparently, and then id get pulled over by the first available popo with nothing better to do.
  19. look up a guy called toshi on here. he remaps standard rb25 ecus, and they work a treat. costs about $600-700 from mem. i got him to do mine and im more than happy.
  20. yeh trouble is, my intake setup is rather unique. theres custom piping out of the turbo, and the bov is right next to the afm etc. i will have to fabricate something unfortunately. i look forward to their disappointment. my mate suggested putting a cover on the whole engine bay! i wonder how that would go down... assuming youd maintain adequate ventilation.
  21. im taking the punt and attempting to fabricate a cover for both the pod and the bov, looking for black plastic so it looks factory-ish. im going to paint the bov black, so even if you look really hard you wont be able to make anything out under the cover. would they defect me just by hearing the noise? even if they couldnt find the damn thing in the engine bay? (obviously i take care not to blast it whenever i get a whiff of porky pig in the air) i guess i can plumb it back, its just a bit of a hassle, and i love bov.
  22. 650cc is pretty big. but yeh 250rwkw is pushing the stock motor anyway. its pretty serious power in a rwd.
  23. it was 1.39.9 today where i was. and bp ultimate was 1.60.9! even 1.24 is a joke to be honest. i cant believe you are so excited about it. it should probably be about 1.10. i spend approx $150 a week on the shit, but now its about $130 so definite improvement i suppose.
  24. i think my ecu is tuned for about 11.5-11.7. you can go a little leaner but its not really worth it in a street car, and im running a fair bit of ignition advance. 11 is a tad rich, but its better to be rich than lean! 223rwkw is quite impressive assuming youre using an RB25 in a gtst (i forgot to check this). you should consider upgrading your fuel pump at the very least. injectors are fine up to about 240rwkw i am told. z32 afm is recommended if you want anymore power. i can refer you to a bloke who does standard ecu remaps for about $650-700. i found it was well worth it, good power and response gains.
