  1. Looks like possibly a good buy. Dale your mistake was saying 'This vehicle has never had performance modifications'. You can't possibly know this for sure. As soon as someone says this about a skyline they lose all credibility in everything else said. Unfortunately that's just the way it is. good luck.
  2. haha.. nice one! Add Darlek for extra boost! That's why you need 2 boost gauges =) You can edit a post just after its posted. I'm not sure how long for though. There is a button at the bottom right corner of the post you can click on.
  3. Definately, blood sweat and tears!! Both my Skylines have claimed chunks out of my hands and caused skinned knees =)
  4. might have an in cabin controller hidden under the dash or something. Daryl, this is what the actuator looks like, which we believe is setting your boost level. It will be mounted just in front of the turbo with the arm attached to the turbo. left is from an R32 (10psi), Right is R33(5psi)

    From the album: BluSky

    R32 and R33 actuators
  6. with no boost controller the stock actuator is about 5psi, so if its 7 it has some sort of boost control. an R32 actuator runs about 10-11. Its the stock solenoid which gives 7psi after 4k rpm, which is disconnected. have a look at the hoses i mentioned before and see where it runs.
  7. The yellow thing is the siren for the alarm! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/400418345571 That key is the same as my alarm key, used to silence it. if I go away and can't turn it off if a cat jumps on it, the alarm will be silent to not annoy the neighbors.. I silenced mine when it was being transported so it wasn't going off for 1500kms...
  8. Congrats on joining the turbo world! you'll love it =) No idea about that yellow thing. But looking where a boost Tee would normally be installed it appears it has been removed and just replaced with a corner joiner.? (just down + left of the afm.) Does that hose go from the intercooler piping to the wastegate actuator? what boost is it running? also looks like there's a bit of unusual blue piping around, but i have seen many different ways of things being hooked up. I definitely think this has had a lot of playing around done to it. As for 'is it a good place to start?' That kinda depends how far you want to go. By the sounds of it you will do quite a bit so anything really will be ok as you will gradually replace everything anyway. Just be prepared to spend hours and hours using the advanced search of this forum and reading hundreds of pages of threads. Everything you need to know is here somewhere =) I have been considering buying something with a bit more space lately, you have just convinced me to consider a ute, have never really had any interest in them until now........
