  1. Heya I performed this conversion on my friend's R34 GT today. Had the fancy pop-up screen thing, which didn't work. (Random jap error message, open/closed at random, etc). We got the gauges with the loom included, confirmed Part No 24018-AA500 as per tag attached to the loom. I was not able to find any suitable connector to plug into. Keep in mind the gauge loom is going to follow a particular path, it is of a certain length, the corresponding plug would have to be in reach, but none was found. It also has two mounting plugs the same as that found on the loom for the screen loom, so I presume they mount to the same plastics on the dash (behind the cluster). Given a car cannot have BOTH the triple gauges and the screen - only one or the other - I believe the wiring of each car is going to be different. There are other components too, such as the buttons where the climate controls are usually, as well as the computers in the boot. So when the car was made with that option specified, I'd put my money to say it was fitted with an appropriate loom from the factory. Vice versa, at the same time I can almost guarantee my GT-T which has the guages stock will not have the TV connectors/wiring in place. To install the gauges, I cut the plug from the end of the loom, and spliced the 2 x Earth, Ignition 12v and Illumination into the wiring for the main cluster. I opted not to attach to the TV Loom, incase removing other components ceased power, illum. etc to be fed to those plugs. Not to mention it was much more difficult to decipher. For the Oil and Boost sensor wires, I've attached a few meters of wire to each to run to the engine bay to fit sensors later on. Alternatively, yeah, one could fit aftermarket gauges.
  2. Looking for: - 3 centre gauges plastic housing (not the guages themselves, just the top surround they're in) - Plastics either side of the headunit / ashtray - Rear brake lines (between caliper and metal line in arch) Are these available? Thanks
  3. I'm in need of a set of brake lines for the rear calipers (between caliper and the metal line in the wheel arch). These avail, $$?
  4. I'm assisting a friend upgrade his R34 GT (Non Turbo) brakes. I own a R34 GT-T, so I've been able to compare both side-by-side. We researched and read R33 GTS-T calipers are a boltup. In our case, they were not. (After we bought the calipers + discs ) Bought R34 GT-T calipers, test-fit those borrowing front disc from my GT-T, everything fit perfectly. The only modification necessary is to cut back the dust shield that sits behind the disc. Ultimately this is better, 310mm disc vs 296mm. The R33 GTS-T calipers use a 12mm bolt. The R34 GT-T uses a 14mm bolt. Some people say the R34 Non Turbo uses 12mm like the older cars, in our case this was not true, the stock 280mm 2-pot sliding caliper used the same 14mm bolts as the GT-T's 310mm 4-pots. I'd strongly recommend taking a wheel off and checking what bolt sizes your car is using before you purchase anything.
  5. QUOTED FOR TRUTH. I'd like to know why anyone claims 33 GTS-T calipers are a boltup whereas 34 GT-T ones are not. This is not true. My friend has a RB25 R34 GT (NOT a GT-V) and his brakes needed major attention - we have a seized caliper, low pads, and a cracked rotor. He wanted better performance so rather than spend the money on stock replacements we decided to go the extra mile and upgrade to Turbo brakes. His GT as standard has Single piston, sliding rear calipers and Twin piston, sliding front calipers. Read up and saw that 34 GT uses 12mm bolts and that 33 GTST calipers are a boltup. Got all new everything. Rears seem to boltup, upon research / inspection / comparison I believe the 33 GTST and 34 GT-T share the same rears. Fronts however are different. In any case, got all 33 GTST calipers (all 4 corners) and discs. No bolts came with the 33 calipers, attempting to use the ones from the car revealed they were too large. I very recently bought my own R34 GT-T and compared the bolts from my calipers to that of his GT. They are identical. Literally, I had both cars side by side, both with a wheel and brakes removed. Good luck to anyone who wants to argue the fact. Both cars use a 14mm shaft, with a 22mm hex head on the front end. Managed to get my hands on some 34 GT-T front calipers, I test fitted those tonight, borrowing a disc from my GT-T and everything fit just fine. Bolts straight up. The only modification necessary is to cut/remove/whatever the dust shield behind the rotor, as it hinders fitting of the larger disc. Apart from that, however, no issues. The bodies of the caliper (33GTST vs 34GTT) appear very similar, the same infact, the only difference I can see is that the mounting parts / standoffs on the 34 caliper are a bit taller (to space it the extra 14mm or so to clear the 310mm disc as opposed to the 296mm disc) and have the 14mm thread rather than the 12mm. They appear to use the same pads. For 33 GTS-T calipers to work you would either need to sleeve the hub mount holes to accommodate a 12mm bolt (to stop the caliper from rattling around), or to drill and tap the caliper mounts to accommodate the larger bolts. Now I've got 2 x R33 GTS-T calipers and a new pair of discs which are of no use to me. The only blessing I guess is we will end up with the better brake package once we're through the job. If anyone is looking to do this conversion I would strongly recommend first removing and checking what their car has. Check the size of the mounting holes, and the diameter of the bolt shaft. As a quick way to check, the 14mm bolts (atleast the ones on my 2 34's do anyway) require a 22mm spanner/socket to undo. The 12mm ones will have a smaller hex head, I'm not sure exactly but if I recall other nissans of past I suspect they would require a 19mm spanner / socket.
  6. For what model car? GT? GT-T? GT-R? All different gearboxes... I'll assume GT-T based off your profile.. I -may- be interested.
  7. If noone is currently after the front brakes I'll take them ... I'm looking for the front calipers + lines. I also might be interested in: - Centre gauges (Voltage, Oil, Boost), don't really need the guages themselves but the housing - AC/Climate control thing - Drivers door window/mirror switch (inc loom plugs) Sorry if I skipped over reading something but the threads a little old so I don't want to assume something has / hasn't gone. PM me
  8. I've driven on dirt roads in better condition than many of the roads in sydney metro.....
  9. Interested in the main drivers window/mirror switch. Would you be able to provide a picture of the plug? I'd like to see if it's compatible with a 2dr Coupe R34. (Looking to fit this and use the additional switches for a custom project...)
  10. Daz035 I'm still interested in the gauges (along with a few other things) Sent you a PM the other week but no reply .. whats the best way to speak to you? If you're after email addresses, hit me up on- therake (a) gmail dot com. Thanks
  11. I've fitted a Ford wheel to a R34 temporarily as a spare (In this case an AU wheel). They work, same pcd etc, offsets will vary I guess depending on the wheel, meaning potential brake, strut or guard clearance issues, but they're generally similar and they will boltup OK. The Fords have a bigger hub though, resulting in a gap between the skylines hub and the centre of the wheel, so when the wheel is on the cars weight will be resting on the studs, not the hub. It will work, but buyer beware, this is bad from a mechanical and certainly a safety perspective.
  12. A friend has a kit supplied + fitted to his skyline there. I had a look around and found they didn't have the best rep on here, but they were one of the only around to have the kit he was after so we gave em a go regardless. I took the car down for my mate and dealt with them, and I didn't have an issue at all and the finished product was pretty good. They had to shave the kit down a bit on one of the side skirts for the door, but for a replica fibreglass kit if that's the worst if it, nothing really out of the ordinary I'd think. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest them. I'm sure you'll get varying stories but eh. That's My 2c.
  13. Interesting .. but if one was looking to buy a 3A Racing filter, where would they look? I can't find much..
  14. Interested in housing for centre gauges (Volt, Oil Temp, Boost).
  15. I'm having the exact same issue lol I got my R34 GT-T not even a couple of weeks ago and this happened to me for the 3rd time just earlier tonight. Driving along, car seems to go a little funny for a moment, but keeps traveling along just fine. TCS Off, Slip and Engine lights come on. Pull over, turn off car for a few secs and restart it and it's fine again. I checked the ECU Fault Codes (shorted pins on consult connector), engine light flashed Code 21. I've been reading up on this over the past few days and yeah .. Pretty much what JI34GT said. Err 21 pertains to the Ignition circuit and is well renowned for being problematic coilpacks. The general consensus is to replace them. That's what I aim to do over the next few weeks. Do a search and you'll find other threads on the topic. The only question I have now is why Nissan made it so it lights up the TCS/Slip lights .. Bit misleading isn't it?? Fingers crossed it'll fix things up, might be good for current/future power gains and possibly also bring up fuel economy a bit if it's been crap.
  16. No longer after Calipers as per prev post .. But .. Is the Drivers side window/etc controls available? May be interested...
  17. Define 'hunting'..? If it's a poor idle (all I'd think to use that word for), perhaps you've got a problem with the brake booster and/or its vacuum lines. Check the brake fluid level, if you've pushed in the caliper pistons this will raise the fluid level up also, not that this should cause anything too major. If you're referring to a braking issue perhaps make sure the brake lines to the calipers weren't twisted or crimped when you refitted them, maybe also check the caliper pistons and/or slides to make sure they're not sticking.
  18. Damn. I'd be interested to look at it but Melb is too far for me. Good luck though. Advice: Sure you might save time not giving info, but then you're taking up everyone else's who have to chase things up. Help others help you.
  19. Thats a lot of bumps in a short space of time ... Also, I can't see your location. What state & suburb?
  20. Might call dibs on Headlights, pending type, condition and price? Also some dash plastics, inc steering wheel cover, not sure what else I'll need yet though.
  21. For what it's worth, a mate of mine recently got this kit for his White 34 GT. We went with Carmate (Supply, paint & fit) as they were the only people closeby our research could find. Didn't have any issues dealing with them and the end result isn't bad, paint looks fine and the fitment is pretty good, a few minor imperfections at worst but you'd practically have to point them out to notice. Friend and I were skeptical given the rep, but we took the gamble anyway, for us we're pretty happy with the outcome. Might get pics once the car is cleaned up.
