More annoying than anything for me on my series 1 was that I would constantly change the position of my light switch from auto to whatever when using the signals. Solved this with a bit of gafffer tape but still a nuisance all the same.

I think you'll find the L and R mean jack shit. I had mine re-gassed the other day and I think I remember the man saying this.

Apart from looking good I found that they didn't function all that well on my C34, being too narrow and I broke my driver's side one getting in and out of the car. I'm looking for a set for my M35, which are more useful on this model on account no doubt of the doors being frame types. They're deeper too.

I should clarify that my Clarion was a single cd player/mp3/radio head unit.

I had a DIN in my series 1 WC34 25X and I replaced that with a Clarion and there was space for another yes. Relatively easy job and much easier to do than on my new RS4 250T M35 series 1.
