  1. Put simply. Alot of $$$$. To get 11's isn't that expensive or difficult, its the next step into the tens that is hard and very costly.
  2. can you put up a pic of the TRUST gearknob please? Thanks.
  3. Congrats KILL HSV, and best of luck Lucien My RB26 was kicked over today and the good news is that the engine isn't seized Fuel pumps go in tomorrow and we will then fire it up and recheck it all.
  4. And all that positivity over a stock R32 GTR LW, patience...patience
  5. Well, let me put my situation in perspective. I found my '89 GTR back in April 2003. After alot of agonising emails and phone calls and 3rd (if not 4th) party arrangements, the car was finally purchased and put into storage in May. I paid for it in June and it was to be stored in Japan until it was eligible for import in Jan 2004. Then DOTARS changed the 15 year rule implementation, so I was faced with a further 11-12 month wait (so 20+ months all up) before I even had the car in the country. Thankfully, after much complaining, DOTARS gave in and provided an exemption for vehicles already purchased overseas. So I was allowed to bring it in from Jan 2004. The demand for 15 year imports, and hence shipping, was so great that I could only get import approval and finally shipping booked for end of Feb 2004. the car finally arrives in Brisbane in March. I pay the shipping, brokerage and customs fees etc on a tuesday only to find out the next day that the broker had gone into voluntary receivership. And since I had paid the money into his account in cash (in order to speed up the process), I was not able to get my money back anytime soon. So, 6 months later, I am faced with a huge storage bill, as well as the customs and shipping fees that I had already paid to the broker. I get sick and tired of the runaround and waiting for my money, so I bite the bullet and pay all the money (again) and get the damn car out of customs/bond storage. This was 2 weeks ago. I picked the car up last Monday. I just happened to be missing some vital components, like fuel pumps, ECU, AFM's. It also had some damage to the front bar and body, plus broken rear wing. Currently, it has been already complied and engineered. Just waiting on some parts and we can finally start the sucker. Was it all worth it?? HELL YEAH!!! "patience is a virtue" anyone?
  6. Between $20 and 60 per day. I think it depends on how long it is stored there. I was up for over $8K for mine.
  7. One week in storage is a shitload better than over 6 months. :s Just use express post to speed things up and all will be fine.
  8. Patrick, yes. Also, I think that there are two different types of R32 N1 headlights.
  9. Casula is in Sydney's south-west. If my car is on the road by then, then I will think about it
  10. Patrick, I just looked at pics of your car and realised that it has N1 headlights, so you will need either a LHS N1 or two standard GTR ones. Maybe you can find one in Japan and put it in the car if it hasn't left there yet. - Charlie
  11. Actually, alot of GTR's have the catch can in front of the battery like that. This is more than likely due to not having a better option elsewhere in the engine bay. In my 32, the ABS has been removed and the catch can is in its place. The battery is also in the boot as there is something else that is in its place
  12. Apparently my car is engineered and complied already. Just need to replace fuel pumps and afm's.
  13. Most brokers would charge these fees. That is not to say that they are pocketing them directly, but rather the fees are charged by those throughout the industry for virtually no work. Ie, the money goes straight into their accounts. I am surprised things like steam cleaning ($210) haven't been charged on that bill. I don't think you could tell the difference between the car before or after it is done...
  14. GT2's: Type C's: They are ok. I like most 5 spokes wheels, and BBS LM's.
  15. Simple. Most of these fees are a rort. LW, looks like the GTR will end up costing close to 28K to get on the road. Any info on it? Pics?
  16. Troy, those are the wheels I was referring to! I can't seem to get any of my parts over here, so might just have them shipped over via air mail. Either that or fit them in a container. I think the ad for the widebody GTR says something about the cost being 2 mil yen for the kit (?). I have a fascination with widebodies (I'm talking about cars here. )
  17. Any chance of also squeezing in some wheels? Maybe as carry-on luggage? :D
  18. I don't see why not Troy, I meant stock external appearance. Now where are those stock wheels... And you will definitely get a ride when you're back home. But you have to bring me back a set of N1 headlights.
  19. Any afm's floating around?
  20. I had my car shipped via Kiwi. But when the missing parts and damage occurred cannot as yet be determined as it was in customs storage in Brisbane for 6 months, and then shipped to a bond storage yard in Sydney where it sat for a week before it was cleared for me to pick it up. ocean, I might have a headlight or two for sale soon. I like the N1 headlights
  21. Troy, I finally got my hands on the damn thing! Woohoo! And I am focused...I am thinking of returning it back to complete stock appearance
  22. Found this while browsing:
  23. It's not the dust that is the concern, its the damage to the body. But it will all be cleaned and repaired better than ever.
  24. LW, that would work too Some more pics of the car in Japan before it was shipped which show the clean condition it was in:
