    looks to be a t-series garrett with 57-60mm inducer. Get it checked by a turbo shop would be your best bet.

    Most times its the harsh clutches + hard gearchanges that kill the boxes, esp. third gear. I have blown a Trust dog box (unknown history) shifting into second. Have also blown third gear on a stock box. Car had over 400rwkw and a HKS triple which is what I think killed both boxes as it is very harsh and has little dampening, if any.

    Mate, I would find someone else to fix the rust and also speak to the compliance guys about it as I would think that there could be a better resolution for you, especially after all this time. Best of luck.

    Can you not have the minor rust repaired and have the car re-checked and passed by the compliance workshop? Or is it a one-time only thing?

    Correct, Autech made an auto 'GTR' and also an NA RB26 'GTR'. But Nissan did not make an auto GTR from the factory.

    i'm averaging one week on the road per year for the past 5 years...

    the r32 and r33 HKS ETC units have diferent plugs and will not interchange unless you have the correct harness. Post a pic of the harness plugs if you are not sure. I have the r32 instructions somewhere, but basically, it connects in between the attesa unit plugs under the rear parcel tray.
