  1. Situation: I have got a To4 turbocharger with no internal gate and T3 flange, a turbosmart 45mm wastegate, a busted rb20 turbo and a custom exhaust manifold with T4 flange. Problem: I want to fit the To4 with external gate, but will have to modifly exhaust manifold, dump pipe, intake pipes, wastegate fittings and pipes etc. Ideally thats what i want to do thou it willtake time and money Solution: The old mans a fitter and turner, and he had a look at the gear i had and a way we could go about fitting it all. After a good examination, hes come up with an idea. Take the exhaust housing of the to4 turbo with has a T3 flange, and fit it with the exhaust housing of the rb20 turbo. He says it will bolt straight up and only machining the housing out bigger enough for the T04 wheel is required. Advantages: Exhaust will be the same and no mods will be needed. Can use stock manifold because flange sizes will be the same. It will have a internal wastegate, so no need to fit external gate. Slight mod for the intake. So is it worth a shot??
  2. so the hose from the boost controller goes to the top of the wastegate and the bottom goes to the pressure inside the compressor scroll
  3. just brought a turbosmart 45mm pro gate. Noticed there is two vaccum fittings. Just wanted to know where both went to? thanks
  4. Looking for a second hand external wastegate to be suitable for a TO4 turbo.
  5. why take it to a turbo expert, when theres alot of ppl saying that its not the turbo
  6. im just going on his word that it didn't compressor surge. Coz im runing a wolf with map sensors couldn't i take the pipe off before the throttle body and run it like that to see if it still does it. If it does still do it doesn't that mean its got nothing to do with the turbo??
  7. i dont understand how it can be the turbo when it is does it in vaccum
  8. the turbo never compresser surged on the previos owners car it was of a guy called shaun, he owns a R32 gtst with a RB26 in it now GOT BOOST numbers plates, think he got it from performaz
  9. ive had a talk to the guys at g-speed, they think it could be something to do with the throttle and the signals its recieving. Maybe the throttle is pulsing causing the pod to suck then stop then suck etc etc. What controls the throttle and want things should i be checking for?? Can someone plz help me
  10. Yer the needle thrashes all over the place. Its basically a stardard RB20 turbo, keeping the same compressor housing, but has been machined out a bit with a bigger wheel. The exhaust housing is slighting bigger with a bigger steel wheel. The owner before me said it never surged. The reason i got this turbo was that my stock RB20 turbo failed. The shaft bent and the compressor wheel jammed up against the housing. I drove the car for another 25km thinking i wouldn't do any damage and basically i was driving a NA. When the hi-flow turbo went on, and i started to have this problem i decided to disconnect the boost controller. It seemed strange that without a boost controller i was still making 12psi. I put the actuator from the RB20 turbo onto the hi-flow one. Maybe driving the car for that extra 25km or so, has buggered the actuator spring and its not functioning properly, causing this problem. What to you guys think??
  11. turbo by its self, does it have an internal wastegate?
  12. I took put my stardard computer in my RB30DET to start it up. I drove it to the workshop and put it on the dyno. They told me it was running very lean, so i put my wolf in and they tuned it for right mixtures up to a 4000rpm rev limit while running it in. It is geting fully tuned after ive done 1000km, since ive just got to bed the rings in. Im glad i got the mixtures checked because i could have done damage. Will find out how much power its got by wednesday.
  13. Ive got a standard rb20 turbo which has been hi-flowed, and its causing problems. When u come onto boost and then back off, the air seems to be mainly coming out the pod filter in pulses, and you get a fluttering sound. Ive changed differnet bovs and its made no differance. Also when im cruising along the highway at 100km/h and you put your foot slighty and start making low boost, it starts making pulsing noises at the pod, as if its sucking air then stoping then sucking air etc. Ive got a 3'' solid intake system for it aswell, so i cant seem it restricting air for the turbo. Help me plz someone.
  14. I asked this question a while back but no one has replied. I have a wolf 3d v4 in a R32 skyline with a RB30DET. Now i want to be able to control my boost with a boost solenoid, which will be controlled with the wolf. However the R32 didn't come with them. Anyway i was abvle to get a solenoid but are unsure of how to connect it up. This is what i think i have to do: 1. Take out Duel Stage boost controller and connect hose to solenoid instead boost controller. 2. Pretty sure its the bottom nipple, the top nipple leave along. 3. Hook up the 2 wires that are connected to solenoid the the wiring harness. 4. But which wires does the solenoid have to be connected to so that the wolf will be able to control the boost. Can someone help me??
  15. There must be someone out there that whos how to hook one up
  16. Nar will find out what peak power is after i run it in. So i set a rev limit of 3800rpm so i cant get tempted to run it hard when its not run in properly. So at 3800rpm it made 160rwhp and its running fairly rich and with no timing, and stock boost, with a stock RB20 turbo hi-flowed
  17. i wouldn't mind to know if there are stoker kits for VL's
  18. Took my RB30DET in today to check fuel ratios before running it in. After playing around a bit, getting it to idle good and setting the wolf to run a little rich, it made 160 rwhp at 3800rpm rev limiter and was producing a little over 1600 ft lb of torque with a very step horsepower curve. Are these figures close to what over ppl have in there rb30's??
  19. Im after a T67 Turbo for my RB30.
  20. Ive got a wolf3D v4, however its been tuning for my 2litre. Do you think i should put the stock computer back in to run it in, or get the wolf tuned to 3500rpm, and then later after its run in tune it properly. Or do you think the wolf at the moment will be fine for running in the moment?
  21. Just done a RB30 conversion, and are at the stage of running in my engine. Ive heard alot of ways to do this, but just wondering how other people would go about this?
