check the ADR rules fpr cars, i think theres some tolerance specified for speedos, like 5 or 10% or something, if they get you for less than that, then you can get off.

i dont see why the spoiler shop is so expensive, im sure the kits are copies of originals, its easy to make a mould and copy. You can get a complete commodore kit for half that price, from somewhere like the spoiler factory, OK they only do commo stuff, but the prices and build quality are far superior to the spoiler shop. Just cause its an import they think they can rip you a new one. as an example, a 180sx front complete, 650 just to supply it, no paint. 300 for a front lip. Commo kits are half that price, and physically bigger, and require more work. im sick of people thinking import owners are stupid enough to fall for that crap. The spoiler shop will never get my business, i havent tried fibrevision yet, next car maybe.

i wish i had 1k to spend. I looked into that as well, and got quotes of around 650 for a Bell, which are sposed to be the best. The new model is just coming out, for $850 they say on a straight road you get 5-600m warning of a multinova. i think ill give it a couple of months till 850 comes down a bit. The bell models are a bit weird, they have a whole pile of crap you dont need, but if you go down to a model without voice etc, you dont get as good a detector in terms of the stuff you do need, so really its all or nothing. when i was in the process of respraying my 180, there was a stage that the whole back half was in pink spray putty, after all the back was straight and i hadnt moved up to the doors yet, the doors forward were black still. I went through a maccas drive through and it was a classic, the guy said, "been doing a bit of drifting eh mate?" i wish i had a pic of all the stages my car has been in, it looked like a jap accident.

dad has a tommy k 300zx, so i have seen how body, guages, speedo, seats etc all have tommy kaira written on them, even wheels and exhaust tip. Anyway the R33 has the genuine lettering all over it, but that stupid ****ing rice boy ruined it. I have only heard of one other tommy k R33 here in perth before (that hasnt been pranged). so one of two is owned by a rice boy, the thing is it would probably eat most people, so theres no way of knocking him down to earth.

saw another candidate saturday afternoon. Black R33, would have been a nice car if it didnt have silver stripes all over it, with the fast and the furious written on the side of the rear wing. It had tommy kaira stickers, and from what i saw it was genuine too, cause tommy kaira cars have the name on EVERYTHING. its sacrelige. bloody rice boy spoiled a perfectly good car.

a proper speed cut defender wouldnt be hard to make. Its just a matter of finding out how wire 53 works, it could be just as simple as capping the voltage to a certain level, so it works up to just before the limiter, and limits the signal at that point. I know a couple of people on here are into that line of work, i cant be far wrong, any ideas? The s13 wires cant work that different, although i know cutting the wire (its not 53, its something else) limits me to 140. Im quite happy to design something given a decent set of info to work from.

my radar detector is an old crappy uniden. I got done around the corner from my house last week, doing 67 in a 50 zone (well that day i was taking it easy, its usually more than that, if you saw the smooth, gentle, long winding road you wouldnt be able to resist either). The cop pulled me over, started writing the ticket, he said, so youve got a radar detector eh? I said yes, but it obviously doesnt work too well (with a bit of sarcasm). and that was it, they ovbiously arent illegal to use, cause mine was in plain view, and hooked up and on at the time, no extra ticket or fine, or inspection of my car or anything. Those who say quickly disconnect it just look stupid as they get pulled over. Laser jammers though, are illegal to own and use.

In the states they are illegal in, they confiscate them on the spot, and actually charge you for owning them. The detectors are kept for evidence and when the court/fine has finished, they are incinerated. Id love to get access to one of those stockpiles. Instead of using cameras to revenue raise, why dont they sell the confiscated ones over here at half price, thatd raise some revenue. Id be able to buy a decent detector too, see win win situation.

MSN, thats a try hard ICQ clone. I think you should use the real thing, it also helps us people who refuse to use windows.

If your mechanic says lifters, id listen to him, cause it is a common problem, and mechanics can usually tell these things. The RB30E lifters were $50 each new, dont know about RB20. I rebuilt my engine at the same time anyway, and just pulled them apart and cleaned them out, cause its impossible to tell which one it is, and you dont want 12 new ones. Its all a top end job, if you can get an exchange set, all the mechanic has to do is pull the rocker cover off, and they are right there, shouldnt cost that much, but definately get it looked at cause they go between the cam and the rockers, so you dont want to damage any of them.

I had that problem in my vl RB30E. It was a lifter getting stuck, it was a loud metallic sound, coming from the top end, if thats what youre getting. They are meant to compress and take the shock, so you dont hear anything, but if one gets stuck in or out, it will be noisy. If its doing it while cold, it could be a lack of oil at the top end, check your oil, or maybe an oil duct up the top end is blocked. Im pretty sure youll be able to tell the difference between this and injector noise. hope this helps.
