  1. Why was the engine rebuilt? What oil pump is it currently using?
  2. Alternatively you could buy a newer Evo IX or MY06+ STi. What are you planning on buying?
  3. It takes longer than 2 weeks to find "the one". Mate try looking for a clean "insert type of vehicle" in Australia...let alone overseas it'll take you longer than 2 weeks. It took me 5 months to find a clean s2000 to buy. Patience ... in the mean time you can save more money in preparation for all the maintenance a GTR brings Why don't you just buy Garrys R34? J
  4. FMD, I hope it turns up soon Fkn scum bags. Wei, I'll take your for a ride in Estelle in 3 weeks to cheer you up a bit...I hope you didn't leave your rego papers in the glove box .. I'll keep an eye out
  5. I'm interested to what it sounds like! Video pleaseee .. pretty please?
  6. People are probably interested. But the sane part of their brain tells them its too much bike for one man. Good luck with the sale. I've always wanted a 9 second bike...
  7. it will rev match and that wont lock the wheels? im sure theyll modify it some how
  8. Its for looks. I doubt you would notice it. High speeds?? 911 Turbo, Veyron, F1 Mclaren...I don't see canards on those. Diffusers at the rear and flat underbody on the hand will do something for aerodynamics. Canards are just one of those things that one workshop did (I think it was MCR?) and now everyone has to have it. Back in the 70's people used to raise the bonnet up at the back maybe a couple of cms because someone thought it would be a good idea for heat extraction. It actually did the opposite because of the low pressure zone around the windscreen sucked air into the engine bay and kept the engine nicely insulated with its own heat. They finally realised and changed the design slightly e.g A9X Torana, rear facing sealed hood scoop = oldschool CAI. /end rant
  9. In NSW a pod filter must be shrouded from the engine bay (to stop it catching fire and making too much 'noise') and must not be of the oiled type. In any case, what is wrong with the stock filter/airbox? Enlarge the hole and run another intake tract to the airbox or similar. Boost controller should be legal. Most mechanics are only an AIS and can only provide pink slips. AUVIS workshops can clear your defect for you (they also provide blue slips) but they won't risk the fine if you haven't fixed your defect in most cases.
  10. Knock should ideally be at zero...though 10 is generally fine. <20 is ok too. Knock is bad for engines and generally indicates a bad tune or overly sensitive knock sensor, and is one of the many reasons for engine rebuilds. Not sure what PSI oil pressure should be at. Oil temperature is important, 85-90 is ideal. If your are taking it drifting an oil cooler may be in order but you won't know till you go.
  11. Plus a more aggressive riding position. You lean more over the tank whereas the single R is a little bit more relaxed. They are pretty much the same in terms of performance...and definitely not worth the extra $2k premium that an RR commands over a single R. Just noobie L platers pay big bucks for them for some reason. Buy a 2 stroke like an Aprillia RS250 if you enjoy smelling my petrol and rebuilding engines. They go hard and look nice but its not exactly trouble free motoring. Plus they sound bad. Whatever you buy, just remember that you won't be keeping it for long. It's for learning on, getting the feel of riding two wheels...getting decent lean angles and powering on...which lines should be taken through what corners. When you upgrade to maybe a 600 basically you need to learn how to use the throttle and front brakes again. I find a 0-100 in 4.5 hard to believe...5-6 sec maybe if you launch at 17000rpm...top speed of 200+? Are you kidding. Unless you weigh around 30kgs and do this indoors...I could only top out around 170...and that was stretching it. And skipping to 1000 with limited experience is stupid, plus the insurance would give you a heart attack.
  12. You are thinking about the GT3 RS, which comes with a rollcage as an option. Damn, was it Walter Rorhl that did that 7.32 in the GT2? Nissan still has the advantage, I'm sure the "average" driver would be faster in a GTR (V-spec or not) than the GT2 - plus its much cheaper. By a lot.
  13. What bike do you have now? CBR250RR's are way too expensive, for a few thousand more you could get a 600 that does double the speed. ZX250R are pretty good value, but again you'd have to be careful not to buy a dud. Both are good bikes to learn on, but neither would be "best". If you already know how to ride and ride well, then upgrade to a 600.
  14. I wouldn't get a 2 stroke, NSR or Aprillia RS or whatever. I don't know about you but smelling like petrol after riding is a bitch.
  15. I trust you! I BELIEVE BKC I BELIEVE !!
  16. Those GSF250's are top bikes. Only reason I wouldn't recommend a Cagiva Prima is the fact that parts would be hard to find if you were to drop it. Honda parts are plentiful. Buy good gear and save your money for a good upgrade, either way you don't lost much money on a 250 unless you drop it.
  17. vtr250 is a great bike to learn on. cheap, reliable. zzr250 is good too. keep in mind I think both these bikes dont look that good but will do the job. Ls for 6 months isn't it? cbr/zxr's are overpriced imo, though I've had a CBR250R (not RR which has the bigger brakes etc.) for my L's and it was pretty quick. Don't spend too much money on your L's...buy a good jacket like alpinestars and helmet instead...that will save your ass and its a good investment WHEN (not if) you move onto a bigger bike like a 600cc. Dont buy an aprillia ... they look nice but are pretty expensive .. especially being a two stroke...rebuilds would be in order. If your going to spend 7k on a learners bike then you might as well buy new - kawasaki are bringing out a new zzr250 and I think it looks great. CBR125R is also a nice looking bike but slow as hell. Those are probably the best of the new bikes. Buy cheap and save your pennies for an upgrade.
  18. I too mourn the loss...though the idle coming from my Triple SU'ed holden 202 with a nice big solid cam makes me get over it soon enough =D Now if I can only get the torry registered ....
  19. granny shifting and not double clutchin like you should you're lucky that 100 shot of NAWWWS didn't blow the welds on the intake. now, me and the mad scientist gotta go rip apart the block...and replace the piston rings you FRIED
  20. If you want answers. Go buy a magazine and read about it. Or go to the Nissan website. All your questions are pointless.
  21. Even if we tell you you would think the RB26 is better. Thats why he didn't answer. Stop with your inane questions like "What gearbox is it?" and go back to goat herding or whatever it is you do in Kuwait.
  22. Yes soon we will all know the dark secret of Nissan...stinging out on us by using aluminium and not iron...the goat herder from kuwait imparts his knowledge - his deep engineering/mechanical understanding overshadowing a multi-million dollar company staffed by qualified engineers. Oh nos Nissan! Recall your GTR's before everyone becomes disappointed. I wish I had 4 thumbs so I could give bkc 4 thumbs down
