  3. Item: 21st Century Performance by Julian Edgar Age: New Condition: New Price: $120 + freight Location: Sydney Contact: Here or 0431408578 Comments: This book is now out-of-print.... rare book 21st CENTURY PERFORMANCE is the first high-performance book that covers current automotive technology - and how to modify it for best results. There's a chapter on how the factory electronic engine-management and EFI systems work, and another on how to make changes to them. Did you know that some brilliant engine-management modifications can be done for almost zero cost? There's the latest in programmable management systems, including hard-to-find fitting and tuning information. 21st Century Performance sorts the fact from fiction on mufflers, catalytic converters and even complete exhausts. The difference in flow of press and mandrel bends, what back-pressure does for performance, which mufflers are noisy and which are restrictive - the best advice is here, supported by detailed test results. There's a chapter on getting the most from the intake system, from simple but effective air box modifications, right through to designing a new tong-runner dual-length intake manifold. The performance of different air filters, the power gains from modifying intake ducts - it's all included. How to modify the latest engines - including multi-valve and multi-cam designs - is discussed. Forced induction is covered in detail, with both turbos and superchargers extensively featured. There are also major chapters on intercooling and water injection systems. Boosting the power of a factory turbo car is discussed in step-by-step detail - even how to build two different turbo boost control systems! And the best thing is that many of the modifications are of the practical, do-it-yourself type, giving proven power gains without breaking the bank. There are numerous results of tests carried out on modified cars - dyno graphs, flow bench tests ~1id on-road performance figures. In fact, there's also a whole chapter on how to test your own car so you can be sure you're always heading in the right performance direction. If you want to go around corners as well as in a straight line, the upgrading of brakes, suspension, wheels and tires is covered in detail. And because 21st Century PERFORMANCE covers the latest technology, high-power turbo four- wheel-drive cars and active torque split control systems aren't left out. Uniquely, there's also a major chapter on making effective aerodynamic modifications. And if you simply want to know how the latest in car technology works - from variable flow exhausts to computerised dyno testing, from all-alloy 32-valve V8s to twin sequential turbo engines - 21st Century PERFORMANCE will bring you right up to speed. Published 2000. Hard bound, 0ver 350 pages, Over 500 full colour photographs, 150 diagrams. ISBN 094721690-1

  7. Car has had major service done recently. Changed the cambelt (aftermarket), bearings, power steering fluid (Castrol), brake fluid (Super DOT Castrol), brake pads (QFM) changed & engine oil (Castrol Magnatec). Car stops on the mark better, steering is lighter and more responsive and engine is more responsive.... would recommend also doing a A/T fluid change to get the best results (apprx. $200 already bought A/T fluid) This is a rare Series 1 R33 sedan, don't buy a coupe which you're going to have to sell when you have a family. This is a car you can live with everyday and brings a smile to your face. Selling because i want a change... looking for a subaru liberty GX 91-94 in manual... with the hill clutch control feature. 8. Posted the laws regarding headlights for NSW drivers a while back... Here's the link http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ns...p;hl=headlights
  9. These guys would be fun. Imagine testing a BMW 3 series while drifting round a track Would want people who live and breathe cars rather than famous faces who sort of know cars... Otherwise would their views be consistent? Humour very important. Suddenly Julian Edgar has lost his appeal... how can he have said that the R32 GT-R was a "bad handling car"? 70/30 split not 50/50 split! On the other hand that 21st century performance book is really impressive... very dry and technical, but still readable.
  10. Who do you think would make a great host and authority on Top Gear Australia?
  11. If you want to know everything about modifying your car from turbocharging to supension and handling look no further than 21st Century Performance by Julian Edgar Unfortunately this book is now out of print and it does sell for a pretty penny. This book has been recommended by Autospeed, Autosalon, Fast Fours, Skylinesaustralia.com, toymods.net and probably here at Boostcruising.com And this author is a modified car fanatic even in the 80s and 90s... So let's not make a show that clones the original or even has remotely the same theme as the original... no factory stock cars... we can watch Top Gear for that... Top Gear Australia must be unique... Let's make Top Gear Australia a unique car show around modified cars...who better than the authority in modified cars, Julian Edgar who loves his cars and works on his cars... http://www.caradvice.com.au/8173/who-shoul...gear-australia/
  12. I've got a R33 GTS series 1 sedan... I was wondering if you have the right shocks for this model.... I've heard that the rear shocks are longer in my car? How many of the parts in this GB would fit in this model?
  13. Got timing belt changed, radiator flushed and bearings changed... top job car still goes fine Will let you know if car explodes, but i doubt it... Will be back soon maybe next month with more focus on swaybars and shocks with springs...
  14. Will replacing castor rods, tie rods, etc really show on the street? I'm going to change my stock R33 S1 4-door suspension soon to KYB shocks and King springs... But after that i'm wondering if i should continue to upgrade the suspension and steering... Will i be able to tell on the street at 60kph- 80kph or will it all be psychological?
  15. Should make this a sticky of some sort... condensing all the info in here... very useful for a newb like me...
  16. I can vouch for another Bosch wiper blade about $25 from Supercheap Auto... look unique too and hug the windscreen... No scaffolding like wiper blade... just a single sleek piece of rubber.. No rear blade for R33 Skyline though... so had to buy one to cut down to size... the metal is very strong.. have to use a decent hacksaw to cut through it.
  17. Got all the fluids changed. Did a sweet job... and explained everything as well... which was great for me... Getting more work done this week... timing belt... Top bloke.
  18. How about some fun roads within Sydney? The Comenarra Parkway from Pennant Hills to North Ryde has some nice sections ... Or Wakehurst Parkway from Davidson to Narrabeen?
