  1. This thread is related to a previous thread I posted about lack of traction in my R33. I have these Hankooks on my car (265/35-18) on the rear and can't get any grip in 1st or 2nd. I have over 210rwkw though, so that's defintely a factor. From my experience they are a good cheap tyre, but absolutely terrible for anything rwd >210kw.
  2. G'day all, How does every else with >200rwkw cars go for traction?? I have a daily driver R33 gts-t with 210rwkw and find it very difficult to get traction on the street. In first and second if I put the foot down, I get wheel spin. I could do a quicker quarter with a stock car at the moment. Current mods that could be causing this: -Twin plate clutch -Hankook Tyres (cheaper) -Tein coilovers -265/35-18 tyres I have a few theories: - obviously softer (read: more expensive) tyres would help - softer rear suspension may help???? - Would a narrower tyre (255/40-18) help? ie. greater weight per square inch of rubber on the road I'm assuming that I'm not the only one with this problem and want to sort it out before I upgrade the turbo. No good having 260kw if you can only use it on the dyno. As it's a daily driver I'm not looking at spending too much on the tyres. Hoping to keep it under $500 per tyre and with relatively ok life. Cheers, Bleck
  3. I have the top model hankook's on my R33 gts-t in 265/35-18. I think they are good, but not for a hy-po car. Maybe if I had about 180-190rwkw they would be ok, but with 210rwkw I find that I can't get any traction when I put the foot down. Will start another thread about my problem as I'm looking for a solution.
  4. I had fresh gearbox oil from Tillbrooks about 10,000km ago. One would hope they don't use cheap fluids. I'd been having problems for about the last 5000. If you search the forums it is a common problem and there are numerous people on this forum who will testify to it working. Scooby
  5. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. I had gearbox crunching from 3rd to 4th under load. Replaced fluid with Redline Lightweight Shockproof and never looked back. No more crunching. Scooby.
  6. EnricoPalazzo, yeah according to Mik@Tillbrooks it's somewhere between 220 and 230rwkw running at 13.5psi on stock turbo. When I had the work done their dyno printer died and I've never had a chance to go back and get it printed out. Reason I can get those sorts of power are due to custom exhaust manifold, big FMIC (same as Grepin's) and modified plenum (much shorter plumbing due to throttle body mounted at the front of the plenum). Have a look at what's been done on the dyno day if you like. Scooby
  7. Alpine V12 MRV-1507 2 Channel Amplifier for sale. Previous model, I bought when it was 6months old and never installed it. Was Alpines most powerful 2 channel amp. 12 Volts 14.4volts 4ohms per channel 150w 225w 2ohms per channel 300w 450w bridged into 4ohms 600w 900w ** Above powers are RMS not peak power. Max Power per channel at 4ohms: 450w Max Power bridged into 4ohms: 1500w Can post to anywhere in Aust, with insurance should only cost $20-$30. Price new was $1400, asking $550. Scooby 0417 472 747
  8. I know that a few people have these on their cars. I have always heard that you need one as they have a greater voltage range for tuning with a Power FC. Doesn anyone actually have before/after dyno print outs to justify the cost? My R33 is about 230rwkw and works just fine without one. Scooby
  9. Been away from the forums for a while and just found out about this last night. I'll be there with my 230rwkw R33. Mods: Excedy Twin Plate Custom Exhaust Manifold Stock Turbo 100mm FMIC Modified stock Plenum Exhaust/Front/dump etc. Power FC+HC Blitz SBC-iD2 Tein Coilovers 18's Scooby
  10. Car looks great Wild Bill. Mick finally got off his butt and finsihed it? How long was it in the shop for? Twin plate in mine is taking some getting used to. I get back from Perth on the weekend and plan on driving the Great Ocean Rd next week if your keen to catch up.
  11. He installed coil overs, custom made an exhaust manifold, modified my plenum, built end tanks and piping for a Sparco core FMIC, Blitz EBC, Power FC Pro, fuel pump, and made a dump/front pipe in my R33. Un mistakeable welding. Don't expect to have any problems there in the future. Quality of workmanship seems to be pretty good. Bleck
  12. Mick (formerly SubZero) at Tillbrooks doesn't rate these for an R33 Gts-t. He said there is no benefit even when using a Power FC, but there is for a GTR. I know quite a few people with these installed in their cars (gts-t). Can anyone shed any light of actual before vs after benefits?
  13. Hey, if you live close to Melbourne try and get in contact with Craig from J-Spec. He stitched me up with a GTR front bar for a super cheap price. Bleck
  14. Got a pic of the seat covers? Will they fit R33 seats? Bleck
  15. Ok well excuse my ignorance, but if I'm way off the mark tell us how (if at all) import duty and gst is charged? My assumptions were based on what a bloke from customs told me over the phone when I questioned them about importing some mags from Singapore. The mags I was importing were about $600 per rim and he said I would pay 15% import duty (standard for cars and car parts), and then another 10% gst. If you have some more info to shed some light on this..... please do so. Bleck
  16. Sorry buddy, if GTRKEN say's that import duty and gst is not factored, then you will pay for it on anything. I'm guessing he means small as in <$200 - $300 (ie. small tax on small amounts is still small). ie. If you saw an Apexi AVC-R on the site for say $850. Then when it hits our shores, the friendly customs man will hit you with $127.50 for import duty, then another $97.75 for the gst. Bringing the grand total for the unit to about $1,075. Not so cheap after all hey....? Autobarn in Adelaide about twice per year has 20% off most stock, so I think I'll wait for that day to come round again. Bleck
  17. Get a jigsaw, some 16mm MDF, and some carpet. Lay the old shelf over the MDF trace it, cut it out, and then with a bit of stuffing around you can posn the 6x9's in exactly the right spot on the shelf so that you don't need spacers and don't need to cut the metal shelf. All up took me about 3-4 hours. Audio shops will charge about $150 for this. Cost me about $20. Bleck
  18. Ok having never ordered parts from Nengun's site (or even looked at it at all) how do you go for paying the 15% import duty and then 10% gst. Is that factored into the price?? Does that make the cost of parts still so cheap? Bleck
