  1. $350 + $25 delivery from ebay. From this guy; http://myworld.ebay.com.au/x...f I don't know if you can change the tone so much, just the volume. It's a 4.5" cannon that can be opened fully or completely sealed so that the air has to travel along another path which leads it up and down the muffler several times, dampening it significantly. So you can have it loud enough to hear from 4 blocks away, 2 blocks away, just down the street, or quiet enough to sneak by the police. Well, that's what I'm hoping anyway. It's a lot better than I thought it would be, wires come with a fuse (on easily replaced) and a cigarette lighter jack. Plan on wiring up a cig lighter port off the battery into my boot this weekend and getting it installed during the week. Your current muffler is an Xforce one correct? This one will just bolt straight onto your current exhaust system if you're considering it.
  2. Not an R33, but still a damn nice two-tone paint job. It's GTX-R34's car.
  3. My Varex XForce muffler arrived today, she's beautiful. I took the 2.5" inlet route too, with a 4.5" cannon. Will post some videos once its installed.
  4. Until it becomes a shopping trolley and kills you. Evos and WRXs have always scared me because of this.
  5. That looks awesome, seriously makes the car look a whole lot meaner. Love the rims too. How do you go about getting these lids? Can you buy them from somewhere, or do you just mock up your own? Thanks.
  6. I've started a new job recently which will mean when I'm fully trained I'll have to start at 1.30am. Meaning I have to leave my car alone in a shopping mall car park from 1.30am till 10.30am. I have a Viper alarm system with immobilizer installed, and it's fully insured, but is there any extra security I can personally do? I heard someone saying they pulled their throttle plug when leaving their car in dodgy places. Is there a fuse or something simple that I can remove and replace easily that will stop the car from moving with doing damage? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, as it's not a very valuable car to begin with, with quite a serious alarm system installed, but after reading all these theft articles I am a little concerned. Thanks.
  7. It's more so I don't wake everyone on weekends too, and I can muffle the car quickly if I spot the police on the weekend. Nothing worse than having to pull away from a booze bus with 100+ db exhaust. That's how my mate got picked up, he saw the cop take his rego as he pulled away, then a week later he got a letter saying he needed a volume test.
  8. I'm thinking about getting one of these simply so I don't wake the house (and neighborhood) when I leave for work at 5am. I've read on these forums about some possible problems, including getting them wet or too hot. I'm wondering if this was just theory or actual experience. Any experience on using a varex muffler on any car would be greatly appreciated, because I need to replace my current muffler rather soon. Thanks.
  9. Bought LEDs off ebay for $20, my dash lights were f**ked so I thought why not. I found out what the exhaust is, it's two 3" piping from the cat-back to two separate 2.5" mufflers. Stainless steel, no brand that I can see. Sounds really good except for the fact it's currently f**ked (it's spitting the guts out and way way too loud). Going to buy a Varex muffler within the next two weeks, unless someone can give me a really good reason not to.
  10. Muffler is dead. It's pretty old, probably nearly as old the car. I don't know what you call it, but the inner casing the keeps the steel mesh nice and tight around the edge has deteriorated and the muffler itself was full of the mesh. He suspects the occasional power loss was due to the mesh bunching up and restricting the flow of air, which could've really messed up my engine. He's removed it all, and the car has run fine so far, so we're hoping that was it. It's really, really ridiculously loud. At least I have a receipt and an excuse for the cops if they pull me over, I hope they buy it. I do have a question though, anyone had any experience with those adjustable mufflers? The ones that you can quieten down with a remote inside the car. They'd be costly, but I could easily see the value in one.
  11. So I took it in to get it checked out, and apparently the muffler has imploded, and it's shooting the guts of it out. So much for a nice exhaust sound.
  12. For what it's worth, my mate has one of these with over 300ks on it and has never had a major problem. He's waiting for it to die so he can get something better, but it simply won't.
  13. Okay, here's mine. All the other videos I took, including the drive by and up close shot of the exhaust came out dodgy. I should've checked before I can back inside. I'll just record them again tomorrow when I have someone to hold the camera for me.
  14. Yeah, I pulled out our busted ass camera and charging it as I write this, should have mine up within an hour or two too.
  15. You're right, my NA won't win as many drags, but it'll still pull as many chicks. To the original poster: Nice ride, how much did your kit and paint job each cost?
  16. Just gonna throw this out there - don't forget the double barrel exhaust! I've got one on my and I love it, performs well, rumbles in the low revs, has a nice "ring" which sounds really well tuned in the high. Probably not what you're looking for as it's not crazy loud in the low revs (still loud though!), which I prefer to avoid unwanted attention, but put your foot down... I'll post a video as soon as my mate remembers to bring his camera.
  17. It's a very niche car, you can wait around for that perfect buyer who wants a 4-door non turb, but otherwise those two points are major killers for Skyline fans.
  18. He said he wanted a sleeper, and hot damn what a sleeper it would be. Just imagine the look on people's faces.
  19. Sell your car, put the car money and cash towards a GTR, remove the body kit, front badge, replace boot lid with a GTS25t, or GTS and get rims that hide the studs. Just an idea.
  20. Hey, I have an R33 non turbo with a double barrel (I assume 2 inch) exhaust, and it sounds awesome. It's deep and throaty (without being ridiculously loud) in the low revs, or when idling. After about 4000revs though it gets this slightly higher pitched ring which does get ridiculously loud in the higher revs. Sounds good whilst cruising around, without being a cop magnet, but sound really finely tuned when given a good thrashing. I'll have a look at the brand when I get home.
  21. As I said, it had a full service about a month ago. I bought the car about 2 weeks before that and then had the car throughly checked out, and had the oil and filters changed, among other things. The place I took it to looked a little dodgy, but the guy seemed pretty genuine and really new his shit when it came to Skylines, plus he was the only import specific mechanic around the Frankston area. In his mind, he said the Skyline was one of the best looking cars (under the hood) he'd seen in a long time, short of the fan shroud. I don't know what oil he used, but I can't imagine him putting a dodgy stuff in. Plus, the car only started playing up a few weeks after the service, not directly after. The only other modification I've done since then is replace the pod filter. It had a dodgy looking Apexi one in there that I really didn't like the look of, so I swapped it for a 3A Racing one. My mate who's a machinist and fitter, and owns a Skyline himself, put it in for me. He did a pretty good job of it too, put in brackets to brace it down. Could the pod be messing up my intake? Thanks again. On a side note, can anyone recommend a good mechanic around the Mornington Peninsula? I don't mind driving a bit further for a quality job.
  22. Hey guys, I own an 1993 R33 GTS that's done just over 100,000ks. Apart from missing a fan shroud when I bought the car, the car has run great, until recently. About two weeks ago the car started to feel... sluggish, for a lack of a better word. Especially when cold. Sometimes when the car is cold it will perform horribly, not that I'm thrashing it, but when I first start it up, and drive down the street it accelerates far more slowly than it used to. When warmed up, I only notice the problem when I give the car shit. It's fine till about 4000 revs in 2nd gear then the power starts to cut back. Like, the revs will increase uniformly till about 4000-5000rpm and then it will start cutting back, as in, the revs will drop for a split second then pick back up. The best way to describe would be it feels like the car has been over filled with oil. I once over filled my parents car with oil and it felt very similar. The oil has not been changed since it was serviced (about a month ago), and it is only about a mm over the F bar on the dipstick. I thought it was close enough to be okay, or is it still too high? Some additional info incase it helps, the oil pressure sits at around 7 on start up, and drops to 4 when warmed up, and the oil very clean. Thanks for any help guys, if the problem isn't obvious I'm definitely taking it in to get checked out, and as you can probably tell I am not the most car literate person you'll ever come across, although I am trying to learn, so I appreciate any help.
  23. Hey guys, I'm new here. A few weeks ago I bought an R33 GTS. Car is running fine, mechanic checked it out and says it all good under the hood. Only problem is the previous owner had these custom dash lights. They were mats placed over the current dash display, and were wired to light up. They worked fine during the test drive, but between then and the RWC the lights stopped working. No problem, I removed the dash, pulled the mats off and continued to use the stock dash and lights. Only thing is, now my fuel gauge constantly says its full. I had to remove the needles on all my gauges to remove the mats, and I placed the fuel needle back where it originally was (about half way), but it went straight up to full and now it won't go down. It was working fine beforehand. I've removed it all again and tried starting with the needle in various positions, but it just keeps jumping back to the full mark. Is there something I must do to reset the gauge, or do I need to get it professionally looked at? It's no major problem, just an annoyance really. Thanks.

Edit: Damn, was looking around at other post on the forum and forgot to go back to the general maintenance forum to post. I'll repost there, delete this if you want.
