  1. Hey my point is everyone has an opinion, and everyone is going to have a different view on things. At least give credit to Jason for

1/ Having a go with it

2/ Being upfront and direct about what is happening.

He could have not posted anything and quietly thrown another stock motor in, although I'm sure that different people would have approached this whole thread in a different manner.

At the end of the day it's another Skyline out there running, and be thankful that you didn't have to fork out anything to see the results... except maybe 10 hours of your life reading this ;)

  2. 550rwkw is a hell of alot of power, that's mid to low 9's territory. Are you sure that a circuit car is capable of that kind of power and uses it constantly on the circuit? Even the drag cars that make that kind of power have a relatively short lifespan, and have constant maintenance despite living for short 10 second squirts and dyno pulls. Not to mention that traction would put the car out of being competitive, well lack of traction anyway. And it would take an SPL or larger to make that power. The list goes on...

  3. Selling the drivetrain out of my GTS-t. Motor was reconditioned 500k's ago with new ACL race bearings, rings, serviced head (valve seats recut, stem seals, new valve springs), JUN crank collar. Had a problem with the motor, upon taking the head off cylinder #1 has a scored bored from a bent oil control ring. Have contemplated fitting a set of oversized (86.5mm) forged pistons but not interested in it anymore. R32 GTR block, R32 GTR crank with JUN collar, stock everything else, low kilometer R33 GTR turbos in perfect conditon. Was pretty much a good stock motor. Has RWD sump on it at the moment but have a spare 4WD sump that can fit to it.

$4,000 for the complete motor. Head is still off so can see the scored bore.

R33 GTS-t gearbox that was in the car, in perfect condition. $1400 or $1500 with new short shifter fitted.

OS Giken twin plate clutch, sprung center $700.

Located in Sydney, can deliver in metro area.

  4. Who did the tune and what rev limit? I think those two variables alone probably account for the motor still being in one piece.

Oh and will nitrous clean the rest of my car? Maybe even scour the engine bay clean after a backfire?

  5. Selling off my Pi Systems 2 Dash/logger. This is a standalone electronic dash unit with it's own harness, sensors and software. Datalogging can be replayed on the dash unit or downloaded to computer. I bought this setup 2 years ago and have yet to put it in a (worthy) car.

Details can be found at : https://www.pixpress.com/e-store/carkit.asp

    Upgrade options: https://www.pixpress.com/e-store/carparts.asp

    PDF file : http://www.pixpress.com/pdf-files/29F-071324-x.pdf

    Kit comes with:

Backlit dash unit with 9500rpm scale sticker on it (can be changed, have spare stickers + use software to change scale on dash)

    Loom

    PC Software

    Sensors

    -RPM

    -two pressure sensors

    -two temp sensors

    -wheel speed sensor

Optional 10 chanel beacon kit (still brand new, lap timer kit)

The base kit has been used but is fully functional, dash has small scratch on painted surface.

The base kit is 2,090UK pounds, the optional extra lap timer beacon is 600UK pounds.

    $2500 firm.

  6. Heh you might as wel throw in "well where the hell was the 2JZ at Bathurst"!!!

Seriously ghetto to compare the two cars, I assume you're up to date with the american 2J scene to know that Titan have got the most developed and expensive cylinder head/engine combos out there. And Keir runs with a stock head/ 260 deg cams. More differences:

Direct port and single port nitrous system vs single fogger on Keir

Automatic vs manual (not a clutchless slider clutch either)

    GT55 turbo (1550hp) vs twin 61mm(2x550ps)

VP Import fuel vs C16 (if that)

    3.4 vs 3.0 litres

    RWD vs 4WD

Endless debate, I love the Titan cars but there are too many differences to put them in the same class. Almost the same as comparing you to Theo Wollet or Mark Jacobson i.e. hey same racing class, they must be on equal footing.

  7. How does VVT give larger CFM readings? AKAIK on RB's, SR's and 2J's the VVT doesn't activate a third inlet valve, change the port size, manipulate runner size or length, or do anything other than change the lobe center on the camshaft.

Edit: Also your flow readings.. are they an average? What lift? What pressure? What measuring equipment?

  8. Sprint car builders have been doing this for ages, I think Smokey Yunick started doing it back in the 60's + 70's. But as to why it's a "new" thing has got me buggered.

Haha and good call on the commando line, the line "Let off some steam Bennet" really is applicable to this... as that's the main purpose of the bleeders.

  9. There has been flow data posted on SAU before, proengines even has a sheet up on his website.

But unless you compare two heads done on the same machine with the same operator you're not going to get an even comparision.

I've heard Titan get 298cfm peak @ .5" on their race heads, not validated locally as there's only 2 in Sydney that I know of (Camrydore) - and I doubt they would hand over the data. I personally know of 3 RB26 heads that are at 310+ cfm @ .5" in Sydney, but again getting more data is rather fruitless as these are not cheap and people don't want to discuss things that come at such a high price. Especially when it's for a competition application.

How many high tech tube chassis'd RBs are going around? Not counting Duke in Japan, that's medieval compared to the carboned bodied, electronic controlled suspension technical marvels that are the Titan/Scranton Bros cars. But you would know that, right? Rob (ohmy8s) will be getting his car on the road soon but it's a fair cry short of the US efforts (no offense, it's a pretty damn good package but as a privateer he doesn't have the funds, crew or workshop facilities to be on level pegging with the Pro teams in the US)
