    The standard setup is designed just for this purpose. There's a thermo switch in the bottom tank of the radiator and when coolant temp exceeds about 90 deg C it switches on the thermo fan.

    No connection to the ecu although if your ecu has that capability, you could have it do the switching, a bit out of my league though.
