  1. Thats cause they are happy to take a fools money. It is up to the individual to declare everything they reasonably know that will effect their policy when getting insurance. He is not licensed for that catagory of vehicle, insurance will be denied full stop. So if it gets stolen or something he is out what $30K? The risk isn't worth it.
  2. Ok now I have another problem.... Took car for a 30 minute spin everything was fine but as I turned right into a parking spot the car stalled (less than 10km/h - its an auto BTW). So took it round the block, slowed down and turned into a parking spot and again it stalled. Took it out again did like another 10 slow turns and it wouldnt do it. But I know it will happen again... With car running wiggled all the wires I cut in the ECU and it wouldnt stall out. Any ideas?
  3. OK figured it out. If anyone in the future has a broken speedo and an Apexi RSM do this: Use pin 58 instead of 29 as Dan said for the speed wire (purple) which takes the speed output off the gearbox instead of the dash. Then in the RSM set speed pulse to 80P (instead of 2P) then under "adjust menu" adjust to 117% (instead of 100%). This will give you the true speed reading. Did this calibration at all speeds up to 120km/h and seems to work perfect. Cheers.
  4. Ok thanks - tried it and now I am getting a speed reading of 1200km/h (when doing 20). So changed the Vehicle Speed Pulse Signal from 2 in the RSM (this is the Nissan setting) to 80P. This "felt" kind of right from seat of the pants but wasnt sure, so went over to another mates house and convinved him to let me test with his cluster. So now with a good R34 cluster set up and RSM connceted to pin 58 - when doing a speedo indicated 40km/h the RSM is showing 32km/h, at 60km/h speedo, RSM is showing 52km/h at 80km/h RSM showing as 72km/h. So not too far out - I wonder why there is this difference? IS this due to speedos purposly having a 10% error from factory so you dont get booked speeding, or something different...
  5. Only problem with that is I dont have my original dash anymore - gave to a mate already who didnt care about gear indicators (I could probably get it back though). I did some more research and it seems speed signal is sent by gearbox to dash with drives speedo and then sends info to ECU. So by splicing RSM into ECU it is just reading what the speedo is reading... So if I took speed signal from somewhere else like ABS unit or straight off gearbox (if I can find the speed wire) I wonder if that would work.....
  6. Hey guys I have an R34 GTT auto - it was not showing gears on the dash so I bought a second hand dash cluster with a non working speedo (only goes up to 6km/h). My plan was to swap my good speedo into this second hand dash which I did. However this did not solve the speedo problem (it appears speed info is stored in a chip in the dash that cannot be changed out). So as a last resort I bought an Apexi RSM - hooked it up with my old dash connected and it worked perfect (so its not an RSM wiring problem). Put the non working speedo dash in and now the Apexi only also goes up to 6km/h (so it mimicks what the dash is saying). So what I dont understand is that the APexi RSM is wired straight into the ECU - why the hell does it need the dash connected and operitng to make the RSM work??? Any help appreciated PS - (As a plus I can now change out a dash console in 7 minutes as I've done it elevtny billion times in the last day! )
  7. yeah definatley , going to buy one now! hopefully bye bye spiking.
  8. OK thanks guys for your help - They are on ebay for $29.90 + 7.50 postage so $37.40...
  9. Yeah read the gazillion page thread which is why I'm so keen on the Turbotech. But.....dont see the sense in wasting $40 if the turbosmart uses a ball/spring too - so your saying the turbosmart is definatly a bleed system? (i could take it apart and see but dont want to risk breaking it if someone on here knows off the top of their head).
  10. Hey guys, I have a Turbosmart boost tee (prob 5 years old) I got for free (As pictured (mines red): Click here). Sometimes when you hit the pedal, boost jumps to 12psi then bleeds off, other times it will only hit about 7-8psi. Just wanting to know what system does this Turbosmart use - is it a needle type bleed valve or ball/spring method? I have seen the Turbotech controller on here and ebay and by all reports it is great (uses a ball/spring) with no bleed off or spiking. Is it worth changing to one of these? Cheers - Oh and cars an tiptronic R34 GTT.
  11. Hey SydneyKid interested in a set of springs for my R34 GTT. I'm in Sydney - how much would I be looking at? (will fit myself)
  12. I'll give you $220 posted to Sydney... Can get brand new NEO's off ebay for under 300 so this is a reasonable offer.
  13. YOu can get K&N filters off ebay for about $75. You can also get Apexi, HKS or Trust for about $85. They are pretty universal same as a Commodore, WRX and most Nissans...
  14. Hey guys thanks for the offers, but I picked up a wing off a forum member on Sunday. This thread can be closed. Cheers.
  15. bump - still need this dash cluster guys Should be plenty out there with all the manual conversions being done?
  16. These are a bargain at that price - good luck with the sale. PM me if you are willing to sell the centre caps.
  17. How was the fuel economy after the tune - better, worse or same?
  18. I just bought the car and previous owner had done a wingless conversion - I just prefer the look of the rear wing is all.
  19. A few people have mentioned the wastegate actuator will be difficult to install - I thought you just pull off the IC piping and its a straight swap - or more complex?
  20. Hey guys I have an R34 GTT auto coupe. I've got a catback exhaust and disconnected the two stage boost control but thats it at the moment. I have done some research on upping the boost (10psi seems the safest level) and a few people have said to install an R32 wastegate actuator as they are set at 10psi from factory. So I ordered one at it is ready to go but then my mate mentioned he has one of those $30 turbotech manual boost controllers that I can have for free (he's sold his turbo). So what is going to give me a better result? I want boost to come on faster and I love midrange and low end (all of which the turbotech apparently achieves) will the R32 actuator achieve this too?
