  1. Recently had my R34 GTT tip auto serviced (trans fluid flushed and replaced). Before the service the auto was fine, this was just a prevantative maintenance thing as I wasnt sure when the last owner changed the fluid. Anyway its about a month after the service (this may not have anything to do with the service, just thought i would provide all relevant info - I have also increased boost and added a high flow cat) and now at WOT as you hit redline (this is in full auto mode not tip) instead of just banging in the next gear (like it used to) the gearbox "flares" - what i mean is it feels like the clutch is slipping (if it was a manual) - hard to explain but the revs keep increasing (without the car actually gaining any more speed) holds for a few seconds on the limiter and then changes (costs a lot of time). Any suggestions?
  2. ^^ Says its for Honda, Acura and Mitsu - let me know if it fits as I would be interested in one too as mines scratched.
  3. Just front pipe or front/dump in one?? wouldnt mind some pics too.
  4. so put a GTR badge on your GTT and claim the front mount is stock. cops wouldnt know the difference.
  5. boost gauge should not be on zero.... puff of smoke could have just been fuel though if your getting grinding sounds in conjunction ect. I'd be getting it to a mechanic asap (dont boost it till then).
  6. Have fun finding 98ron, i just got home from work after trying 3 different servo's.......grrrrr
  7. ^^^ Yep dont know why people keep quoting so high for SAFC's.... You can pick em up occasionally on this forum for about $200 second hand or ebay brand new NEOs are $300 delivered. Factor in roughly $150 for the tune and your done.
  8. Not to mention the Captiva is made in Korea and a full size smaller than Territory.
  9. Sounds like starter motor if its making a metallic tapping sound...charging wont fix a dodgy starter motor - try hitting the starter motor with a spanner/hammer.
  10. damned if I can see any answers to what O2 sensor an R34 uses in this thread... confused...
  11. I have an english copy of the "advanced manual" about 60 pages - in both hard and soft copy. Can email you it, if you want?
  12. I just came from an 03 WRX into a R34 GTT. I wouldnt even think about an 02 due to the ugly bug eye looks and they were really dull performance wise - too heavy. The handling of the WRX was in another league just wouldnt let go and it really shoved you back in the seat (mine had just zorst) when the turbo came on. The WRX also was HEAPS better on fuel and sounded awesome. More practical too, big boot, 4 doors - did a couple of big ski trips with a snowboard and skis to Victoria and it swallowed it all and was comfy too. No snow chains needed either which was a bonus. The GTT handling wont get as fast point to point but it so much more fun than the WRX - power oversteers at the slightest little provocation. Dosn't feel as fast as the WRX in a straight line but it may be due to the way it delivers its power rather than being slower. Looks wise I like both but think the R34 wins hands down, its so sexy from any angle. Plenty more looks in the R34, WRX blend in as everyone has one (not that I could care less about looks). You also sit alot lower in the seat and feel one with the road (I jump in my wifes corolla after driving the r34 and it feels like your in a Mack truck as you sit so high). Oh and interior on R34 wins hands down as coolest interior I have owned - more gauges than a Boeing 747 and look great with the blue LED mod. Only downfall of the R34 is the fuel - I get 350km till the fuel lights on and that is driving sensibly. So around 14-15L/100km. Pretty bad really...The WRX was getting around 11L/100km. If you want something cheap I just cant go past an S13 Silvia - under $10K, heaps of performance, fun and economy, heaps of parts ect.
  13. Pfft thats what mates, beer and WD40 is for...
  14. I thought these were called R33's?
  15. I havn't looked in a while but I just did a google search of US performance shops - also US Ebay had multiple new SAFC NEO's for under $300 delivered to your door in Aus. ^^ Also in responce to Decim8 I have had multiple X-Force exhausts (previosly on a WRX and a VR4) and never had any problems with them, why pay double for a brand name? But thats just my opinion not saying your wrong.
  16. I've noticed this too since buying a skyline. Previous car was a WRX, no one really bothered me, now I get these economy cars up my arse from the lights or they pace next to me wanting to race. Sorry guys not going to waste precious fuel on teaching a lesson to your Mazda 3/Corolla/Crapadore.
  17. Mate I am actually in the same boat as you except I have an R34 GTT - currently has cat-back (came free with car) and boost controller ($30) running 10-12psi. I also want to spend minimal money - My plan is: Dump pipe - $199 Hi Flow cat - $160 (you already have this) FMIC - $300 (not really needed but hey I like the look). SAFC NEO - $250 (brand new delivered, buy from the USA dont get ripped off here) Tuning for above - $100-200. Thats $1100 for me or $649 for you (as you have cat, R32 wastegate (10psi) and dont need FMIC). Personally I think SAFC is a wise investment, these cars run sooo rich with exhaust...I get 350km to a tank driving normally, everything is serviced/new, which leaves the air/fuel tune. I only have one rule when modifying and thats make sure everything you buy can be taken off and sold seperatly when you sell the car, i.e. KEEP ALL YOUR STOCK PARTS. End advice.
  18. I guess Optus Singtel.
  19. cheers guys - appreciate the help. I will post a pic of where we installed the boost tee to ensure its in the right spot.
