  1. This is the other Chinese one I have on the way for testing.
  2. I think the way the EMU works it replaces the MAF signal with a blended output from the MAP and IAT so the car shouldn't know any different. Problem is I need a working MAF to log the output vs load for a starting point for changing over. I'm getting warranty on my 21A MAF so that help but still a pain.
  3. Ok so my 21A MAF crapped itself this morning. Lasted a few weeks longer then my last MAF. Have ordered the 'other' style Chinese unit. Will see how that goes. If that doesn't last I'll go to MAP&IAT with the EMU
  4. Latest email from HobDrive, says to ensure vehicle is set to "Nissan Custom" If that doesn't work enable Trace logs to enable a debug log to send them
  5. Hobdrive replied and advised to use the "Nissan custom" setting under vehicle type, vehicle settings
  6. No luck for me on torque. I was already using the init string valf posted. Not convinced my 327 is working. I've heard a great deal of the cheap Chinese 327's have faulty J1850 PWM capability. I've ordered a v-gate from Sydney.
  7. There is also a Nissan plugin for torque called. "Advanced EX for Nissan" mixed reviews. Looks like it will only work for cars with diagnostics via canbus which we don't have
  8. Hi all, there is a common problem with the greddy ultimate design. The ignition chip sits too close to the slide rail and can easily be knocked off the board. This results in a "All IGN SIGNAL NOT DETECTED" error. I have successfully repaired my own board. If you would like the chip supplied only $15ea posted Or I can repair your unit for $50 inclusive of the chip I have 4 chips left Matt 0413023669 or pm Adelaide
  9. I like the new info coming out in this thread..many heads make light work.... be sensational to work out an ELM327 based tool. Cheap cheap. I have the next 3 days off...I'll have a bit more of a play. When I hear back from Hobdrive I'll post the email up. Matt
  10. So the preset profile is there. Looks like it doesn't want to stay connected to my 327. Maybe hope still. I'll keep playing. Maybe buy a better 327 Here is the unit string, I'll try it in torque later
  11. Thanks for the feedback. I've emailed him to try to get a free full version app. I have one of the el cheap 327's so prob won't work with that either
  12. It's the same with live data on mine, lasts 20sec at most before crashing. I have an XP Acer travel mate with a fresh XP build. But good point I might try the other one we have at the shop with XP when James is back from playing Air Force. I don't have the MI.. to expensive for me when I already have a fluke scopemeter I can borrow from work. I have another USB A/B cable but one with a ferrite choke on each end. Will see if that works any better. the data streams seems like it is best effort data rather than CRC referenced. That R35 fronted stag looks the goods, I've been doing my best to find some affordable 35R wheels with tyres that will fit. Found a set with new 255's all round but price is up there. Some of the 19" 370Z wheels are more affordable and RAYS.
  13. lets agree to disagree on this one scotty ;-) on all points
  14. There are 3 oil restrictors which is why they are more susceptible to oil contamination, turbo failure is more common from over speed. Turbine wheels doesn't fall off due to oil starvation, it is due to turbine over speed. A boost leak, larger exhaust, bleed valve and time all contribute. The only reason people stress so much is the turbo is a much bigger pain to change than the previous ceramic turbo wheel'd nissans. Max wheel speed is surpassed not much over 15psi, hitting the rev limiter and a subsequent backfire can tip it over the edge. Pls be aware changing to a bigger dump or exhaust will reduce your OEM turbo life *unless you can reduce the boost back to std levels. Anything on the intake side can increase turbine speed if it reduces restriction, even without a rise in boost. Having said that I lowered the motor and trans down(don't forget to undo the steering shaft like I did) with the help of some info from the guys here and was able to change the turbo out without too much hassle. First time can be very daunting. certainly a job I would leave to someone who has done it a few times. Matt
  15. Hey Scotty. I've found the data monitoring side to be very unstable to the extent I can't log for more than 20sec without the VI disconnecting from the PC or the ECU. Same goes for when I try to adjust the ign timing, AF learn etc. Everything else works 'most' of the time between crashes. Tried many USB cables, mains power etc etc with no change. I've read through the Nissan training Academy course, came with the unit. Could you help me out on what software version is stable? I was under the impression the software was original Nissan.. I'll check my version when I get home. I've been in contact with the supplier who seems to think the VI is faulty... On another note: ICarsoft i903 for Nissan apparently also works on our cars according to the seller..
  16. found this one today which lists M35 VQ25DET as compatible. Might download the demo this afternoon and try it out with my ELM 327 Bluetooth to my Quad core Kitkat 4.4 deck. http://www.hobdrive.com It lists a working profile for the M35 VQ25DET... I wonder if I can borrow the init string from that profile to get torque up and running....hmmmn Matt
  17. There is plenty of generic obd readers/scan tools that also work. From what I've found the function tests and adjustments are hit and miss on these. To be honest the consult is a pain to use and only really good for reading codes and clearing them. Additional functions and data monitoring are unstable at best. Better off buying at decent scan tool that will also do non Nissan.
  18. I have an old aver travelmate I bought from eBay for $35 which I put XP on. Was a pain going back from Vista. The secret was to the long partition format during XP install as vista has a hidden partition the stops XP installing/rebooting properly. Might save you the hours it took me to work it out.
  19. oh, it was just a cable from my Hewitt Packard printer. USB A/B cable they are called
