Hey guys, I'm getting a strange noise from the passenger side of the car sounds a low mooing sound but with a v (VOOOo), if that makes sense??? seems to be at about a quarter throttle (maybe just as it starts to spool) and seems to be getting more frequent. At first I thought it was from the rear of the exhaust but now Im not sure, doesn't sound like an exhaust leak though. Anyone have any ideas S2 25t x four 100% stock standard

Hey guys, just wanted to run this by those more knowledgeable than myself. I went up the coast for the weekend, and about 100k in, my check engine light came on for about five seconds then went off. This happened a few more times through out the trip, sometimes only staying on for a second, sometimes longer. Model: 98 S2 25t x four Car seems to run fine. (although exhaust did smell a little rich on cold start.) all fluid levels ok plugs just replaced and new set of Splitfires installed. Did the bit self diagnosis thing....(I think correctly) turned ignition to on. bridged the two points with wire for 2 seconds then removed. Engine check light flashed 3 slow flashes, then 3 fast flashes. SO, does this mean replace the oxygen sensor, and if so, is the EL falcon one ok for the S2 (replacing the EL connector with the stag one) sorry if my discription is confusing, cheers Gerard

Yeah, fair call. I dunno, I'm new to the whole RB engine thing. I didn't know anything about coil packs before the Stagea. Last time I worked on an engine, it had one coil, leads and plugs that didn't require dismantling half the car to get to.

Yeah my coilpacks looked good too (I think you really need to check them with a multimeter.) I had this problem for the last few weeks, and was a bit wary of jumping in and following forum suggestions but decided to risk it and get some new plugs and splitfires. Figured changing the plugs might fix it but figured I didn't want the same problem again in three weeks time so the splitfires were probably a good invesment. The guys are 100% right. Not only did it fix the misfire, but seems to be better through the entire rev range. (very smooth ) I decided to go with the platinum plugs with 1.1 mm gap as my car is 100% standard (S2 25t x four). A lot of guys are running a .08 gap but I think most of them have modified cars. Anyway, I was cheering. Very grateful for the advice handed out on this forum.

Hey Luke, I plug the ipod into the front 3.5mm AV sockets for Music videos while cruising. Just took a bit of soldering to make up a lead (3.5mm combined vid and sound to two seperate 3.5 mm plugs for sound and video) Couldn't find a pre made one anywhere

98 25t x four, untouched...for the moment, I hadn't planned to modify it but.... love it In Sydney.

I have the same, I assumed it was for an oil pressure gauge that I assume comes on the s model, but am not sure??

Do you know if the X series has the same gear ratios and spring rates as the RS? As far as I can tell the only difference is the lack of tiptronic and velour as you've stated.

Thanks Duncan, Yeah, I did consider cruise control, but it doesn't seem to have the standard acc resume. also it appears on another similar car at auction in japan ( http://www.tradecarview.com/stock/detail.aspx?sid=1037404 ) so I don't tink its after market?

Hi Guys, thought you might be able to help. Does anyone know what this button does? Its on a 98 S2 (2.5t X FOUR). I was thinking it had something do do with the transmission. Its an Auto but not a tiptronic. I have done numerous searches (here and google) and can't seem to find any info. Im considering purchasing the car so any info would be appreciated. cheers g
