"the only hint erik will get is from the new cherry coke" Erik you remind me of the people of that ad dude. Seriously, sell the car it wasnt meant to be.

Personally, I'd just save up my pennies and wait till I had $2k and go down to steve @ sst and get a wolf3d installed. This will get you a full ignition/timing/fueling computer, remove your boost cuts, speed cuts and will also allow you to controll the boost as well. A safc is gonna set you back $550-$650 (depending on where you buy it) + dollars spent to tune it on the dyno. To up your boost now its gonna cost you about $100 for the bleed valve, I dunno how much the cut defenders are and then the dyno time to set it all up. Save the dosh and buy the ecu, you will get much better bang for buck.

ok, I'm orf... tired as after a day at the show walking around.

I missed you paulie Heh, I dunno what time the car is being tuned tomorrow. The injectors and fuel rail went back in this arvo. On the list for tomorrow is changing the plugs, getting the gauges sorted, removed the afm + hks pod and fitting up the cheap ass filter (simotoma). Then it should be right to tune... I want to be around when its being tuned, but I wont be by until the arvo, will have a chat to steve tomorrow morning about it. Monday being a public holiday has ****ed things up a bit. If it wasnt a holiday the car would be back on the road now.

Hey paul ya byatch
-
cleaned and tested $150. Plus whatever steve @ sst charges me for getting them in and out.
-
Still for what I want, 370hp, the engine should hold up fine. I've checked my injectors to make sure my fuel system doesnt melt me a piston
-
ey? the internals on the r34 are stronger than on the r33? hmmm.
-
I saw it today hicks Looks the goods. Should be able to make 350hp easily.

How much do GCG charge to "hi-flow" a turbo? Nissan GTS-T R32 & R33 Upgrade of Standard Turbocharger:- The factory turbocharger is a ball bearing T3 sized unit with a ceramic turbine wheel. In upgrading this unit we replace the ball bearing pack with a new one while replacing the turbine wheel and compressor wheel with hi-flowed models. The upgrade comes in two stages. XTRGTST-STG1 450hp rated $2250.00 XTRGTST-STG2 500hp rated $2450.00 Taken direct from their site. Oh gee, why dont I send off my turbo and for $2250 I can get it "hi-flowed" to 450hp... get real, you're best of buying a gt28 or a gt30.

Thats fine, just make sure it isnt set higher than 12psi or it will blow the exhaust wheel off, and then you'll have to buy a big bastard aftermarket turbo like me although I didnt kill my stock turbo, sold it to a mate
-
1 bar is far too much to run on the stock turbo and cooler. The ceramic exhaust wheel will spin off and the car will probably detonate at that boost level with only the stock i/c. Play it safe keep it around 12psi tops, how are they planning on upping the boost? If its a bleed valve make sure you install a good boost gauge at the same time so you can make sure its not spiking too high. If you plan to use an electronic boost controller some of them, like the blitz dual sbc, act as a boost gauge as well.

So you've obviously talked to macka to find that he's had months of issues finding the right match of compressor/exhaust housing's to compressor/exhaust wheels. He's also had issues with compressor surge, so all the time and money he's spent dont you think it would have been easier to just buy an aftermarket turbo? Go for a drive in paul's car and tell me its a lag monster... just remember to bring a spare pair of jocks.
-
Fuel pumps can die with little or no warning.
-
I'm only going on the 8th, not going this wednesday... the car will probably be just finished tomorrow. Saw hicks car being pulled apart and saw his new turbo too
-
Service is over-rated, price is what drives most people to buy. As I said I've only bought small stuff through these contacts in japan, I probably wouldnt buy a turbo through them, rather buy something like a garrett.
-
He also wants to achieve 350hp, he wont do that on the stock turbo.
-
Aidwin lead the way, shame the installation of the turbo ****ed his engine. Now I think there is 4 or 5 of us with aftermarket turbo's on the forums now.

The few differences between what paul has done compared to my car is the greddy manifold, a surge tank for his fuel and I would assume he has a large throttle body as well to suit the greddy manifold. Is that what you call "support" systems adam? For ****s sake, read my post before replying, paul and I are both making good decent power on basically a stock fuel system, all we have done is upgraded the pump. Sure if you want 400+hp then time to crack open the engine, wack in some pistons as well as fit some 550cc injectors. Come-on guys I think paul and I have proven that you dont need to spend big cash to get your car to pull 350hp @ treads. If I had my time again I would have spent a lot less on my intercooler, thats the only regret I have in my mods list. If you read my post I did make a mention of a dump+front pipe in the later half, and what other exhaust work needs to be done? A hiflow cat? *laugh* thats such an oxymoron. A cat is designed to impeed the airflow by removing the heavy metals from the emissions, you cant exactly make a cat flow better, unless you remove it or bash it out. hiflow cat... no such thing. Its like a "hiflowed" turbo... bullshit, its a new turbo essentially. They replaced the exhaust wheel, they put a bigger compressor cover on and they've machined out the exhaust housing... wow a hiflowed turbo. If you look at the cost of "hiflowing" your exisiting turbo its very simular to the price of a new turbo... gee I wonder why. Gus has also proved that changing the stock intercooler on the stock turbo is a waste of dollars, his car performs well with the power fc, stock turbo and stock intercooler. I'm getting tired of all the shit that gets dribbled on here.

Wolf3d fitted and tuned $2000 Trust VSPL fmic $1300 delivered from japan (can be fitted by yourself if you're handy with tools, just need to cut a hole into the engine bay for the intake manifold pipe) Bosch 910 fuel pump $220 (again can be fitted by yourself, goes into the tank, just need to modify the pump brackets) 9 puck clutch from ross @ perth autoclutch $820 (drive in and out, dont bother trying to do it yourself too hard) Ok at $4340. So how about we go for a small internal gated turbo that will make 350hp @ wheels easily like a GT28 with a t3 flange. Would pay more than $2000 for that, again you could probably fit it all up yourself, except for maybe the water and oil lines, so lets say $150 (3 hrs of labour) to get that all done and checked. The wolf3d would be put on last as you'd have to re-tune it for the higher boost. So all up you've spent $6490. The car would easily put down 350hp @ treads, the boost response would be great as its a small turbo, only marginally bigger than the stock item. It should run a low 12 second pass on good tyres. Oh I forgot a dump+front pipe, shouldnt be more than $300-$350 to get one made up and fitted, its internaly gated so just get a combined dump pipe. Thats only $1490 over budget and it'd kick ass... so what other "support" systems do we need??
-
Most of the guys here use contacts in japan for their parts. I've used 2 guys for several parts, nothing large like an exhaust or an intercooler just small parts like a strut brace, gauges etc. I can tell you your prices arent even in the ball park.
-
All you need is a bigger fuel pump, a bosch 910 will do nicely, they cost $220. gtst-vspec and my injectors are still going well, his is making 368hp and mine currently 344hp (un-tuned, will be tuned next week). So what else about the fuel system needs doing? Paul's car has reasonable traction on his bald tyres, I've got a set of 225 dunlop sp9000's and I hardly have any traction troubles, however thats $700 worth of tyres for just the rear end, so his budget will be blown.
-
For $5000 you can get a wolf3d fitted and tuned, something like a GT30 fitted to the std exhaust manifold and an exhaust made up to suit, you may have to do some of the turbo work yourself to keep it to $5k but you'd have a weapon then.

Pfft, plug and a half, take it elsewhere.

2nd hand goods through a private sale... buyer beware. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done. Just flag his trader rating and maybe setup a thread in the NSW forums, as earlier suggested. If it was bought through a business 2nd hand, or sold on consignment, then thats a different story You can speak to the ACCC/fair trading and they can point you in the direction of what to do next, but for private sales there is no legistration.
