  1. could be blow by, or a turbo seal issue. try a catch can .. or a pipe into a coke bottle from your head breathers.. if there is oil in the bottle then its blow by. if not then turbo seal could be shagged yes oil in the combustion with affect power and make it more likely to ping. also check your oil levels cos its gotta be using oil.. dont wanna ruin your bearings if it runs low/out. catch can would not be a solution, just an extra tool to figure out where the problem is.. can cause fuel economy issues as you put your foot down more to do the same thing.
  2. went and had a look today Dan, its getting there jamie said he was hoping to get the engine together finally tomorrow, so prob a test start for you on wednesday.. thats good news looking forward to seeing how the new motor goes, with that special turbo you have.
  3. fair enough. well when thinking about it.. its no longer a pulse once it leaves the turbo housing, so aslong as it is a smooth transistion it shouldn't affect the flow too much.
  4. no room for a twin 3" down the car matt ?
  5. i think that the oil will be under pressure, so you wont have any uneven flow as the pressure should force the oil to the lower pressure areas, so it'll utilise the entire core.
  6. no mention of dropping the crank back off TDC so if the cams are not lined up correctly that you do not bend a valve or 2 like i did but very simple install otherwise..
  7. spewen, cos 3pm is when i have to leave home for work ... i'll be there sometime today, few things to organise with jamie, so i'll be checking out your car for sure.
  8. let us know what time your gonna be there on monday Dan, might finally be able to make it..
  9. well just by looking at the extra 50hp rating with the only thing changing is the exhaust housing to the 1.06 AR so yes the compressor is stated to flow 65lbs, regardless of the rear housing, but power will be affected by flow restrictions in the exhaust housing.
  10. according to these deatils on http://www.turbofast.com.au/GTseries.html the gt3040 from garret running the 0.82 has a horsepower rating of 550hp and flow 65 lbs
  11. farken lol oh well... *ding* NEXT
  12. think SK mentioned about 60kw lost in the drivetrain.. so thats 80HP .. 460BHP -80hp = 380rwhp 380rwhp is 283 rwkw .. the 0.82 is a garret version, but yeah guess they have different compressor wheel trims etc
  13. you will want that bit of metal there.. extend the ones thats on it, or get a new one made.
  14. r32's dont have a snorkel on top of the airbox like an R33 ... the cold air intake comes from behind the passenger headlight and comes out of the guard into the airbox.. so yeah, might wanna consider that
  15. if you noticed a change in spool times with the new "manifold" then yes you will need a new tune.. $50 dyno run will tell all
  16. thats the consensus.. mine returned in at the bend that goes under the car..
  17. heres one .. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...l=solid+lifters
  18. probably best to ask the person you are gonna use to tune it. depends on the mods you have as to how long it will take them to clean up the AFR's think most places are like $100 -$150 an hour for dyno time.. so budget at least 2 hours minimum id say
  19. screamers are illegal and can be bloody loud. people dont seem to worry about screamer pipes as much as say no cat .. but the penalties are the same. you shouldn't see any difference in spool times as this split system only really come into effect once the wastegate opens, therefore it is already at full boost. noticed on my old setup that it would rev out much cleaner after the 5-5.5K rpm range ..
  20. room for more with the afr's there too, but definately not bad results change though.
  21. its about time my car gets out there again, timing is an awesome plus . count me in at this point Adam
  22. mine does that, it is simply the turbo timer wire from the handbrakes switch earthing out on the tunnel.. check under the centre console and look for it, then tape it up.
  23. try the for sale section.
  24. i wouldn't be using beer currency if its an exhaust stud thats broken .. easy outs or get a pro in to do it.. there was a thread not long ago posted by silver gtst about stud removals etc. do a search.
  25. excess airflow protection is a violent backfiring nasty thing, so i doubt it is that. gap the plugs to 0.8 check with other coils that aren't doing it. my cars doing a similar thing and i know that is the coils, im running 0.6 gap to try and stop it, but it aint working anymore try dropping the gap lower til it goes away, til you can get new coils.
