  1. Jaxx Transtate do GREAT work. Steve took my baby in hand when I was getting in new tyres, made sure they were absolutely perfect.
  2. Saw a red r32 last night round O'connor way. Might have been a GTR?
  3. Cool bambinator. See you round!
  4. Spotted a black S2 R33 GTST yesterday heading into Woden - NSW numberplates from memory.
  5. tilting it down will prevent it reflecting back to the Lidar 4Door, give your local police shop a call and ask them exactly how the camera system works. I've actually used the unit you're talking about. The laser is trained on the car, not the number plate. If the car is deemed to be speeding, then two photos are taken of the car: one from a distance and one zoomed in on the number plate. Tilting your number plate will make absolutely no difference. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to train a laser on a number plate?????? At 250m, movement of one thousandth of an inch will jump the laser beam about 1.5 metres. That's on a stationary object. Are you even thinking about what you're writing??? As for speeding, I don't deny that I may have exceeded the speed limit at times. I'm certainly no angel on the roads. But I'm not the one trying to get out of being tagged by the camera, and the things you're talking about won't work. Fine, speed if you want to. But don't then grizzle about the consequences of breaking the law. We wonder why our insurance premia are so high, and why imports have such a bad reputation with the police. This thread is exactly why.
  6. Tilt your front numberplate down about 10 deg. This is the first place a cop will aim his lasergun at your car. Lidar is just invisable light and needs to be reflected back to the gun and a small tilt can make a huge difference. This is a load of rot. "Invisible light"??? What is "visible light"????? Do you know how fast light travels? Tilting your number plate back will retard the laser beam by...ooh... .00000003 seconds (rough calculation). As for not washing my car in the hope that it will "reduce my radar signature", I'd rather have a clean car, thanks. Here's a decent foolproof method for not getting done by speed cameras: don't exceed the speed limit.
  7. I flip out every time I see my Skyline!!!!!!!! I'm going to go have a look at it now!!!!!!!!!
  8. Cheers Amaru!
  9. Hmmm...thx for the advice Sumo. I'll see about grabbing a multimeter over the weekend and check it out...
  10. Saw a white R33 S2 GTST with gold rims outside the Canberra courts. Chap was wearing a navy outfit.
  11. Ah whoops, I meant 'once I click the keyring to disengage the immobiliser'. Then I have to charge the battery again to full capacity with a mains charger. It's a whole lot of fun.
  12. WOW my car has had a timing belt change in the future! lol sewid!
  13. Blummin hell that's clever, AR . Still, feels a little like robbing Peter to pay Paul getting the car to start itself to recharge the battery. Surely there must be some way of working out why it's going flat? Dawg, it isn't the battery. The battery is a brand new heavy duty. This only started happening after the alarm was installed, which was quite a while after the new battery was put in.
  14. Look forward to meeting some of u Why only some of us? :lol
  15. I'm planning on booking it back into Strathfield early in the new year when it's a bit quieter. I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to ask for yet. _turtle_: no, it isn't the battery, it's completely sound. Not sure if the alarm has its own battery. I think I might get them to remove the old alarm and then put something else in. Swordfish, that Mongoose thing sounds great. I guess I just don't trust mine perfectly any more. I'll let you know how it goes.
  16. lol Kinks! I'd probably pop in the Blade Runner soundtrack and wig out.
  17. Ah ha! Yer, saw your R33 when I was there about a week ago. A friend was getting her car checked after a defect, and I spied a nice line in the carpark. Jumped out, ran over and had a look. It's always nice to see a Line.
  18. Yep, woke up at 11:45, wasn't sure where to meet, tried logging on to the board to find it DOWN!!! AARGRGGRH
  19. Sweeeeeeeet Action.
  20. Sorry, man - hope you find it!!!!!
  21. Yer, I'm keen as MUSTARD.
  22. Does anyone have any more info on this problem? Strathfield say they can't find anything wrong with the setup, but that they can remove it if I like (full satisfaction guarantee). Has anyone else heard of anything like this?
  23. I agree with Amaru - I'm up for another cruise after this one too.
  24. Cool, at last an opportunity to meet everyone! I'll be there.
  25. I don't see how you can argue that: Regardless, it is also just as futile to compare these cars to your $5,000 VL crapboxes. It's akin to comparing your GTS-t to a Ferrari 360 Modena. Your GTS-t might do the 1/4 mile faster and cost a hell of a lot less doing it, but they're simply in different leagues and you only sound stupid trying to compare them. When you've just said that: 1/4 mile times are universal, which is why they are used to compare cars abilities. If the GTST is faster than the Modena, the Modena owner is just going to have to accept that fact. They'll have to find some other vector along which to compare their cars. If a VL crapbox can be sent down the quarter mile with greater success than a hi-po Supra, then so be it (to my mind you'd be mad not to do so, if winning is your aim). Trying to subsequently claim that the Supra is out of the VL's league because of some unobservable quality measure just doesn't wash.
