-
Okay! with barely any help what so ever lol.. me and 2 mates got it out the drive shaft issue was solved just removed the spider out of the housing... and twisted the engine to clear the chassis Now the strip down begins!
-
OK guys ive started to pull out the engine all is going ok.. but once i got to the driver side drive shaft i kind of ran into some trouble i have no clue how this comes out and ive searched high and low even in the manual does not give any info just says remove drive shafts ive gotten so far as you can see in the pics but i decided ill stop and wait for some info before i stuff something chek out the pics and let me know if im on the right track... one shows the front shot of the shaft on the diff and the other is a side view of how far i got it out... i dident pull it right out.. cheers

heres a shot of the sticker on the box to clear up some confusion lol and with regards to HD actuators .... when i pulled the arm off to see if the wastegate flap opend it took me and a mate to pull back on... im pretty sure this means its HD lolol
-
the part number 707160-500 (5) or and (s) cant tell its hand written the other part no. on the other box is the same but has an additional (s or 5 on the end) lol maby one turbo is a little different to the other so they support eachother rather than be the same shit ? eg one will boost a little later to help top end power? noidea man having a stab in the dark.... Ash i dident pick up HD actuators their standard adjustable... can u explain the difference with the 2? why do i need heavy duty ones?

Hi guys i just bought 2x 2860-5 turbos from GCG part no. 707160-5005 Now i opend both boxes and noticed on both turbos the wastegate arm is welded... wouldent this cause constant boosting ? im not 100% knowledgeable on turbos please help! attached is the photo they both have this welding

Ok today was a awesome day... i received my genuine nissan gasket kit ! comes with a tube of genuine nissan gasket cement lol! at least i don't have to worry about various gaskets o'rings and washers now And i purchased a set of 2860r-5 Garrett turbos as-well which will arrive at my work tomorrow morning cant wait

put a high tension lead between the coil pack and the spark plug and attach ur timing light to that... also sounds like a timing issue :S or low fuel pressure but uve solved that .... im thinking air idle control valve try remove it pull it apart and clean it out with some solvent (evaporative) solution i dont know if they cause a non starting issue maby their cleaned for more of a hunting issue... try it anyway

Hi guys, Names George , I bought myself a 1997 R33 GTR as my 3rd Skyline being on a low budget at the time i sourced out a nice body and interior GTR with the engine in my mind as if its rooted ill enjoy learning on it! So here it goes im a 2nd year apprentice i work in Thomastown Turbo Engineering and i been learning a hell of alot, so with aspirations to become an awesome mechanic im cutting my teeth on this GTR's engine alot of people think im crazy and the few think I'm awesome for having a go i think im going to have the best fun of my life! At the moment the cars sitting outside haven't moved it since i found out it has low comp and slight bottom end knock, now ... since ill be getting the engine out i figured might as-well go all out on it and build it properly (to what i think is properly anyway lol) i have been saving up alot of doh and purchased most of the stuff i need to get it going again including the following Cp Pistons 86.5mm Eagle H-Beam rods (arp bolts) ACL race series bearings N1 water pump Greddy Oil pump Tomei 1.5mm Head Gasket Tomei Ex, In, and throttle body gaskets ARP studs throughout Tomei Sump baffle kit + mines (type) cam baffles Tomei Oil restrictor Things i still need have money for but have not purchased Haltech platinum pro ecu ( have been told its awesome but still researching ) ATI super damper harmonic with water pump pully. set of coilovers as mine are rooted still deciding on wheels but digging some TE37 SL's 18x10.5 +12 Cams getting custom made from camtech cam gears Garrett 2860-5 turbos VRS kit So guys feel free to help me out as im literally building a petrol engine from scratch for the 1st time i work on diesel cars alot and i know its different but the mechanics will be the same im sure. ill post up some pics and stuff soon of the car and so on Added some pics of the parts and my manuals haha i feel like a kid with a lego kit ! Cheers guys hope this turns out wish me luck

Im building it myself...im an apprentice mech... dont know to much about the smaller details but i do a bit of reconditioning eg head work and bottom end stuff at work so i have a decent idea.... alot of people are scared but look im gona cut my teeth on these engines i love them to death and their all i think about honestly even my misses craks the shits...i bought my manuals from jpnz chassis and engine manuals im gona do alot of reading and build it so dont mention comp ratios yadda yadda im gona get the block honed machined if it needs and balanced and then ima wet and dry it a bit slap the gasket on strip the head clean it up put new seals thu it valve grind so on and slap that on...... simple question was if the 1.5 was ok to use to push high boost into i was just a little curious... i dont feel like im going bakwards ? the standard head flows fine i think? with a set of cams (custom made not off the shelf) and some gears the right tuner should get me some good results dont u think ? ill be asking alot more questions so i might make a thred about my build in the overhaul section so i can ask people there aswell thanks for the help guys

Titan.. seriously... i love you... some 1 with an ANSWER lol fair enuf so the bigger the gasket the more lag ill get? hmmm so 1.5 should be fine well that made my life a little easier lol ta
-
havent decided mate...but not going ported or anything like that just standard valves just chuking in some cams doing a valve grind n so on... simple shit really Look all i want to know is if i should sell the 1.5 n get the 1.8 is it worth it so cbf having a mass convo about it..
-
20thou oversized cp pistons eagle rods full tomei gasket kit inc sump baffel, greddy oil pump tomei restrictor , havent got harmonic yet but properly ati ....N1 waterpump.... pritty much good bottom end...top end hasent been decided yet but yeh -5's im happy with so far might change my mind still doing research on what turbos... on and id2000s with a good pump setup also
-
he was talking to be about running 28 psi ? look im not an expert so please dont assume i know what im on about lol
-
Hi guys Quick question, just received my overhaul kit from my mechanic on the list we made we settled on 1.8mm gasket i was told i would need it to push alot of boost into the engine so i agreed since im going for decent power i would need it! now i got the kit and i noticed the head gasket it 1.5 mm i questioned him about it... he said ( sorry they dont have 1.8mm i talked to my tuner he said its good not to worry) im asking here coz i know hes full of shit lol standard being 1.2mm is 1.5 big enough to get me 350awkw with good boost or do i need the 1.8 mm ? btw its a Series 3 R33 GTR cheers.
