  1. Man, that is some acceleration. Not really for this thread but - Abit of update, very disappointed this weekend. Getting the car ready for Round 5 of the NSW SS Championships, stripped the engine for a freshen up, put new head gaskets in (some supposedly really good sodium filled head gaskets). Got it tune'd on the Dyno, made good power. Some time later, started it up to load it on the trailer and the engine shat itself. Looks like the new head gasket gave way and now I have soup in the sump. There goes any further chance to defend the class championship - not sure if I have sufficient funds to fix the engine in time for next round. Looking back, its been a wild ride: Racing in Year 1 - First time ever driving a car on the track - 2nd place Class 3A Class 3B Champions in Year 2 Hopefully, I get more chances in future to continue to drive competitively, now, I'm just feeling tired...
  2. Only done Eastern Creek, Wakefield and Oran and...its Eastern Creek...fast circuit - turn one shits me.. I recently went off on the inside @ turn 1 and missed the inside wall by inches.. For some reason, I hate Oran Park - Just can't seem to find the flow...
  3. That video's been floating around for sometime now and it never fails to impress me everytime I view it...Surely there must have been some contact...*Poor Elise*
  4. Thanks..It was towards the end of the day when I slapped on some used 225s to see if it made a difference. Kinda forgot that I needed to warm up the tyres abit more. Previously always using 205s..Interestingly, times dropped by slightly more than a second once the 225s were up to temp..
  5. 1:38 *sob* am only 10 (!!??!!) seconds off the pace.. Nice smooth line...great vid.. :-p
  6. I had a run in with a cob just off Goulburn about a month ago, whilst coming back from a Wakefield trip. Honestly, he was pretty decent...Popped the hood and all. In the end, was just defected for my half cage and told to get an engineers cert - No fine, or canary.. If he wanted to , he could've made me tow the car back. So, my respect for these guys are there. then again, on hindsight, he probably pitied me, a 30 something and driving a Honda Civic...LOL. 10/10 Yay!
  7. Circuit: Wakefield Park Car: Toda Civic - 2litre NA. Driver: Me - Still learning, so abit messy - better laps @ the end. Lap time: 68.3 seconds best Camera: Ebay Digital cheapie from China - Velcro'ed onto a rear bar 9/10
  8. well, not really - well, maybe just wondering how in the VW forum, all the Golfs seem to be killing 99% of the other cars in their road encounters...?? but then, thats not really for this thread is it? 7/10 (Getting there..)
  9. Well, I just found out about the 10 post floor before you can PM when I was about to PM another user with a question. Should I make posts just for the sake of achieving the 10? Oh! another 4 more posts to go now! :-) Can someone help?
  10. I don't have a problem - but thats only supersprints
  11. man...you guys complain about being snubbed? Try driving a Honda Civic (especially mine..heeeee) ...I get snubbed, angry stares from <insert type of driver here>, disdainful looks from the "turbo" community + Holden/Ford and "Com'on launch the thing!" from other similar fanboys.. LOL...Just look here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Do...civic&st=40 Nowadays I just look straight ahead and try not to attract too much attention.
  12. Congrats on your times Duncan, although it is a very good car, it won't be doing those times without a good driver to harnessing it properly. It was good to meet you - Next time, I would like a closer look at your car if you don't mind. Last time I worked on a GTR was almost 7~8 years back on an R34 V-Spec. Busily changing the gearbox just the night before a Race in a friend's backyard! Was also the first time I went insanely fast on a public road (Not Australia). I am abit cut by the what the Dorian Indicated vs my laptimer. It certainly felt a faster lap (I I do have a apologise a a WRX STI driver has I dove in hard on his inside at the kink). Oh well - Moral of the story is - always wait for official times. I guess I have my work cut out to find the 0.5 second needed @ the next round.
  13. Unfortunately, I disagree on a couple of things here. 1) If you haven't really raced, got involved in motorsports, going out and buying a dedicated track car is a bad idea. You might not know if its the thing for you and you end up with nothing but a trailer queen. 2) Using your street car to start off, is a good idea, but you have to do it the right way - You do not spend time building up the car to a point where you feel its ready to be tracked, rather, you track the car as is and then find out what you need to do to build up to that next level (and then come to a point where you decide if the street car is not practical and you need a track car) For someone starting out, I'd say, track your street car as is, join Supersprints in the stock class, get some track time. You may decide that you could benefit from better brakes, shocks but don't want to go the whole hog as racing's not going to be your full on hobby, so you modify those parts and you can enjoy them on the street as well. Then your times improve, you decide you need more power - ask yourself, are you going to dedicate yourself to the sport and race in some class (research the class, then you can either convert your car or buy a track car - whichever turns you on) and then work your direction from there. For me, well, I would like a dedicated track car, but I can't afford alot the trailers etc etc, and also, I do like to take fun drives in my car as well - So I have a compromise, a street car thats track ready. Yes, I have a 2nd set of rims, but thats about it...
  14. Hi, I'm new here but let me stir up some shit by saying, I don't know what the fuss is all about with "pro drivers" and what not class etc etc From my point of view, none of the driver's really shone in this event. The cars were all doing the times expected and no one really stood out. On average, it was average driving with maybe the exception of the Lead Lotus, that wasn't expected and probably the only car that looked like it had pace... So really, I don't think any of these are worth arguing about, the event has come and gone.
