  1. Yeah I know what you mean when you first launch- the cars have that slow feel. The clutch/ big wheels make it real tricky to balance a good take off. Also I would say the low pressure piston rings for economy also play a big, big part. Its very different to driving a big 8 or a sports or R type car that are designed for more instant response More so when you add autos.

Its also the reason car is good on open roads I got 12.25 /l (8.25l/100) to melb.

Once you start cornering at speed with them they are unbelievable!!- they feel much smaller, tighter and turn in like nothing else. I love this about them more than anything!!. I think mine came with diff stabiliser bars but is standard ride height, shocks etc. the steering, brake feel are perfect wouldnt trade it for anything. This ride/handling balance also deceives you in thinking its slow. Once you start turning in 80+and accelerating out at 100+kph on medium corners you will know what I mean and it does it easily without fuss..thats the beauty of skyline- all of them do it better than most cars twice the price. I took a mate with a Clubsport for a drive and cornered at 80 whilst talking to him & he was just gobsmacked at how comfy it felt at speed..

So the answer is once you actually push on a but you will feel how nimble this car is.

  2. Very tidy looking V. I love those headlights. You got separate LEDS fitted down the parkers?

These cars are faster than most people think. It is faster than my R33gtst by some margin. Sure it doesnt have the poke of a clubby or an evo but its not 6 litres or an outright sports car but the ride handling is balance is far better than both. As for the Silvia how much boost were you running!!

Goodluck with it and the mods an keep as posted cheers!

  3. All I have to do is get a job before I start dreaming of a new one & whilst I like them- they dont appeal like the v35...Im certainly not sentimental at all about replacing if/when more faults start cropping up. My R33 was about 10 years when little things started failing so guess this is getting there

  4. Wow ggs - I rang Steve Jarvin Nissan myself and they confirmed exactly what Revolution said. 198+gst

Thanks Scotty but I might stick with a new one. If original lasted 9 years - no point gambling on another similar age. I was already paranoid of the 2nd hand buckle that I replugged the wiring of the original(broken clip) & reset, as well as pulling out the seat and checking all the plugs.

I really think this issue is related to our bad roads- really bumpy, and maybe thats just worked the tension free a bit in my case through some high speed stuff that or a faulty one or both :)

  5. Were you being sarcastic?. As I said it doesnt look like the clock spring after all- because plugging in my broken old buckle & doing a reset cleared the airbag warning light!.

Maybe its a temp thing but I will hold off & just replace my buckle from nissan $77.00

For the clock spring Nissan quoted $198 ex gst. Did someone take $100 to fit it

  6. Hi Scott- I saw the scanner code detected was the one for clock spring so I have to go with that. Mine is series 2- 11/2005. I dont know if you can rely on an airbag component being second hand ?.other than door looks been brilliant for the 7yrs I ve had it.Is it something anyone can install or safer bet to leave to expert?

    Thanks

  7. Ive had the flashing light for a week now. Did both man resets several times the most they last is a day. Took it Michael at Revolution electronics and he ran a scan. It detected a fault with the "clock spring" at the base or the main airbag. A new one costs $200 from Nissan and is on order.

I was curious if anyone else has experienced this? I cant see too many here that have it.I had issues with my drivers seat 4 months ago but the scan found nothing there ) maybe that triggered it. Michael says seat belt pretensioner/ clock springs are common with cars this age. Mines a late 05.

  8. Yeah mine was made 11/2005 and has it. When I first revved - I thought - oh know its got a problem with Reverse gear ! Lol they are a great car- New job in Syd worst traffic has killed the mileage. Driven really smart in light traffic you can get 8.5klm/l and 12.5 on open rd.Mines got some K's after 6&1/2 years and Im still getting very close in good conditions

  9. Can you actually read!- of course people with auto dimmers are going to have problems- LEDS are not designed for dimmers or switches with inconsistent/variable power input.

All your other gibberish just confirms what I said about them.

18 years in broadcast electronics wont fix your short circuit kid.

  10. If they are "designed to use the same electrical load" - why would they need load resisters?. The only situation you may need these is if you use more powerful LED's than the standard amperage ( which is crazy as they brighter anyway)Or you try using them where theres inconsistent power supply such as indicators.- which is not what they are designed for.

Everyone knows standard tail light fitment on the V is LED's. They are more effective and durable.I have had my car over six years without changing one and I doubt anyone ever needs to.

Like anything if you use them correctly they are , brighter, more efficient, and more durable. Its ok if you dont like them but stop talking BS and scaring people from using them - just because you dont know what your on about.

Btw - the guy just told your hes had them in his MR2- so he knows more about them than you do.

  11. They are perfectly legal- they are brighter not too bright !-they use less power and produce less heat.making them safer and should be more durable. Friends have had them for years without changing one. Last of all the colour emitted is much nicer! Ive had them iver a year- no issue.

  12. How would you know - have seen them or tried them ?? Has nothing to do with colour!- they are brighter and more effective. Driving down a driveway you can actually light up the walls either side with your parkers. The interior is much better and allows you to find things at night- especially those with dark trim. If you like I will buy you a pair there only about $12 at supercheap.

  13. Hey Jezza, welcome Im sure youl find plenty of useful stuff here.

A good complier can certify whether the odometer has been modified/ tampered. Mine had 14.5k on it but it was less than 20months old. It was certified as true. If it looks immaculate it could be original. But given the extras I would suggest the whole car has been refitted.

Surprised you got 17's- most 2003 coupes have 18". I would not bother with your MR2. The V has massive wheel arches which are part of the appeal. They can accommodate much bigger but even fact opt incl 19". So all up to you.

  14. Hi michael are you in Syd?. If you after electrical stuff. I can recommend Revolution electronics. Ask for Con 02 9797 6499. I think their closed till the 16th Jan. He knows V35s really well. did my tuner in minutes!. You just reminded me I gotta get my auto door lock replaced.
