  1. Hey, all good guys I got one from a wreckers up the mountains that was out of an *R30. Works a treat too but as per usual I fix one thing and something else brakes New starter in, turn the key and no reds (dash lights), no tick from the fuel pump but the motor still winds over like a champion. Checked the fuse/fusible links, blown fuse for the meter? (designation on fuse box lid) I assume that's the gauge cluster? as well as the fusible link for the ignition has popped too. any ideas? I think the rat may have chewed through a wire, the tacho wasn't working when everything else was? I hate cars
  2. Not as yet mate, there's only one wrecker in town and he specialises in more modern stuff but I will try him tomorrow just in case. Hmmm, never knew about the patrols something else to look out for. Thanks man, I'll try and get one closer to home but if I have no luck I'll let you know. Cheers Dan
  3. Hey guys, as stated I'm after a starter motor to suit my C210 Skyline. I'm located in Lithgow, NSW, will pay postage but have relatives in the Sydney area to pick up if possible. Cheers Dan
  4. Yeah, I knew it was cheap for a reason I got my mirrors yesterday too, thanks coupe. Got the clutch kit as well to go in, and $2.50 worth of black vinyl for a new gear shifter boot. So much to do
  5. Looking good man, nothing worse then sanding back a car, then priming, then sanding, then painting, then repeating Dreading repainting mine, but liking some of the pearls on ebay at the moment Cheers Dan
  6. So..... I pulled my glove box out tonight in preparation for fitting of the new stereo and guess whats tucked up in behind there? Long story.....car was parked in a paddock for 12-18 months, pushed it onto a trailer and towed it home. Noticed a fairly nasty smell while trying to get it going but didn't think to much of it, left it in the shed with all windows down, doors/boot open for a good week to air out, yep that'll fix it Rear seat was out when I got it, I pulled the passenger seat out to fix one of the rails and the console came out when I took the gearbox out. Thought I may as well take the drivers side out and remove all the carpet and underlay cause that's obviously where the "smell that will out last religion" is coming from. Wrong again.....Gave everything a good clean all the trims and stuff, ahhh looks a million bucks now The stench seems to be fading or maybe I'm just getting used to it? Anyway.....so I pull out the glove box and notice some underlay/sound deadner tucked up behind the gauge cluster and I think.....that's odd.....surely putting sound deadner there would be a bit of a fire hazard with all the electrical stuff going on? Start removing deadner and the stench starts getting stronger again, buried in amongst all that shit was a f@#k off big, dead, semi-decomposed rat or maybe it was a possum? any way I fell a little sick now but hoping that was the only one living in there There's a big, dead rat in there....nasty
  7. Your a champion coupe, got all the answers I was thinking the glove box, and had a look but must have missed the holes in there. Something else for the to-do list
  8. Thanks Nigel I never even gave one of those a thought, I was under the impression you needed an i-pod to use them. Wonder it the lighter works? Anyway, pulled the gear box out today and found the friction plate glued to the pressure plate so I'll order a new clutch tomorrow. Pulled all the seats out to get the old carpet up (smells like there's a dead rat in there somewhere ) and replace with something better, will give everything else a good clean while the seats are out. Found a 2 or 2 1/4 inch stainless exhaust with a single walker muffler out back, looks to be fairly new. Also noticed that the fly wheel and pressure plate have been balanced, is that a factory thing or has it been done later? Cheers Dan
  9. Thanks mate, your to kind But I think postage would be a killer, need to get it driving so I can sort out the gremlins and get it rego'ed. Discovered last night that the original radio/cassette still works (needs new speakers in the back) and also a full size spare in the boot, cool. Love the funky dash too I've actually got a new cd player with USB (cause all my cd's got stolen with my old rolla) and was wondering where people have put them with out having to cut/destroy anything. Sorry for all the Q's but good info is scarce for these things. Cheers Dan
  10. Thanks mate, I found the rest of the mirror in the back when I cleaned it out earlier (was side swiped hence the white scuff along the side of it in the second pic) it's still straight tho, anyway, I glued? the 2 pieces back together with copious amounts of metal-mend but I don't know how long that will last. And another question? what other models can I poach parts off like a new starter motor or a clutch kit to suit the L24? or what models share the same clutch so I can order a new one if needed? I can imagine what they'd say if I asked for one for a Datsun Skyline (I live in a small town) Sorry for all the Q's and thanks for all your help Cheers Dan
  11. Will do champ, gotta give it a good clean-up. Striped and cleaned the starter yesterday, will re-assemble and fit it back up tonight. Try and get the clutch moving too, sucks to have no gears PS: Anyone got a spare driver side mirror? Cheers Dan
  12. So I picked up the skyline today and have been giving it some love to try and get it going. Started up fairly well with a new battery and a shot of fuel down the carby but the starter motor is tired, needs a good whack every now and then. Might just need a relay to got some more juice to it. There was no fluid in the clutch reservoir (or brakes but that's for another day) I topped it up, bleed the system, fired her up and still can't select a gear but the slave cylinder was moving the clutch fork. Could something be seized or stuck or could the clutch fork be cracked and bent? happened on an old escort I had. anything else to check for? Is there a way to adjust it some how? Couple of shitty pics, will get some better ones tomorrow Cheers Dan
  13. Wow, I've only been here a week and it's already sold 3 times over. Sorry mate, not for sale as yet. Dan
  14. It's not mint, but yeah, green with black interior Mmmmmm an RB something would be nice or maybe a carby turbo set-up with the high flowed T3/T4 hanging off of my 4age
  15. Thanks guys, it's actually my cousins car(don't think he really knows what he's got) The grass was pretty deep around the car but the wheels look a lot like the ones in the top post, as for the stereo I'm not sure but it's a manual. The body seems to be in fair shape for it's vintage but it will need a fresh coat of paint if I can convince my better half Looks to be a light metallic green kinda like the hot house green from the commonwhore? I just want to get it rego'ed for now and maybe look at fixing her up some later on. Have just dropped the rego on my latest project a KE70 corolla wagon with 180rw/kw 4agte that has lots of goodies hanging off it waiting for a new home Nah mate, I'm on the other side of the country, NSW. Will do, I'm going to pick her up on the week end. Cheers Dan
  16. Hi all, I've been poking around the forum for the last week or so doing some research on the old Skylines. I've been having some trouble with my current car (think the ecu is on the way out) so have been looking for a cheap daily and came across an old Datto Skyline for the right price, being free Its been sitting for 18 months or so but was running well apart from an apparent "electrical problem" with the carby? I'm going to try and get it going next weekend but was wondering what type of carby they have, and whats a good but cheap alternative if it's no good. Also wondering if these things have any common problems that might need attention. Sorry should have said, I'm not sure of the exact model but it's a 2 door and looks like this thing. Thanks in advance, Dan
