  1. Really depends on the setup and what your aiming for. if you want to do the solid lifter conversion while rebuilding the motor i highly reccomend getting JHH to do it for you great workmanship and excellant porting. however i wouldnt reccomend the solid lifter conversion if you arent goin to take advantage of having it done.
  2. extremely unhappy with the fact that they required such large lashcap style shims 5-6mm+, was easier and cheaper to have JHH convert the hydrolic lifters to solid. that was the case in the head we went to set it up on anyway.
  3. having attempted to use this "tomei solid lifter conversion" i highly dont reccomend it.. i know of some brand new tomei buckets and type B valve springs if someone else wants to have a go..
  4. sorry to say but for that bloody price i'd want it to have stainless steel flanges, not f**king mild steal nice design but still... 6boobs for the win!
  5. keen on this pending final price.
  6. proper way to do this is with a mig preferably gas and solid wire not fluxcore. the best way to do it is spotweld/a solid tac with the mig evenly spaced about an inch apart, highly reccomend you dont do seams like some pics show as they will warp due to the extra heat put in. do not solid weld the whole thing. and its a waste of time even attempting to do this with a tig.
  7. funny thing is.. ive seen people do that LOL
  8. is the profile of the jun cams compared to the tomei's really that much better suited to a well ported head with oversize valves?
  9. will pm them thru to you sometime tomorrow!
  10. Ah cant believe your selling it... good luck with the sale and to who ever buys it. and do you polish that shed floor? i have never seen one so clean.

  14. so this is the same turbo as wat they are offering into standard housings for the bolt on rb turbo in the other thread? and yes.. thats insane power and response for a ca18
  15. ok i normaly stay out of these however i read over the thread and the reason i can see that trent went ahead with the tune is for the fact he thought the shavings were from the camshaft/topend oil problem and didnt expect it to be a bottomend problem aswell my reason for saying that is you've shown up... he's fixed the top end problem.. sent you away for a week, you've come back and he's checked the topend is all good so he's assumed that was the end of the problem which im sure any good mechanic would have done and he's started to tune the car and problem has occured and he's pulled it off the dyno again.. as for people saying he's saved your engine, well in a way he has.. you still have a crank that can more than likely be reused allthough it is fairly common for SR cranks to be cracked upon removal of even a good engine, your block is reusable and most likely your rods can be reused aswell. hope that clears things up a little bit for you as thats the way it has come across as whats happened to me.
  16. for the sake of 80bux or so... its worth throwing a new timing belt on
  17. i tried telling him about that exhaust housing choice but didnt want to listen by the sounds of it.
  18. incase you didnt know.. ray hall the main man behind the devolopment with the vipec was actually the main man behind the devolopment with the autronic, which is why you'll find all of ray's old autronic dealers.. are now vipec dealers.
  19. one Jap part i will say i would never recommend to anyone is the tomei solid lifter conversion kit(lifters and type b valve springs) for an rb25. absolute junk. but we wont go into that.. this thread isnt about that.
