  1. I have had a Carbon top/ fibre glass bottom bonnet for a couple of months now got it through www.nismo.com.au The only problem I have had is with the cops, they don't care about the fibre glass type but they have told me that the true carbon bonnets dont pass ADR standards - I don't know my self but they didn't have a problem with mine once it was proved that it was a fibre glass base. I think that there may have been some other threads about this as well. Good luck I think they look great !!!
  2. I might be going away for a couple of weeks around Easter, but if I don't go count me in.
  3. As the subject suggests, I hope everyone had a great new years eve !! I had a great little encounter on New Years eve and I hope its a sign of things to come. Anyway I was stopped by a "highway patrol" car (one of the new brightly painted Fords) on my way home after work in North Melbourne. I thought here we go, they are going to bust me for being too loud or too low. The cop asked me for my license and told me he was going to do a random breath test. While the cop checked my license his partner started walking around my car, and even crouched down to look underneath. At this point I thought he was going to start asking me what mods I have. To my complete surprise he said "great car" he told me to take it easy and to have a safe new years eve. I was totally shocked, my last few encounters with cops have been painfull. Anyway just thought it would be nice to post about a pleasent encounter with the cops, and I hope we can all be this fortunate this year. Cheers
  4. I think they look hot, do you have a carbon rear wing as well ??
  5. Coming up on two years, and still loving it !!
  6. Jamezilla: Theres nothing better then a 4X4 covered in mud, have you ever had any electrical problems while river crossing or puddle bashing ?? My Rangie had 33 inch tyres and a 3 inch lift kit, but when ever i got close to water it would run rough, not to mention that most of the electricals would stop working as well.....good old british enginering ha ha. BTW your niva looks tough, maybe a little small for me. riggaP: not sure, I have a friend with a GTST he has the Xenon headlights but the car has a complete GTR kit fitted- and he bought it that way, I will have a closer look tonight and post back here.
  7. I actually left them fitted, I just unscrewed the Xenon bulb, this left a large gap. It was a little akward to get into the far corner by the high beam and the the actual high beam bulb was to small to stick anything through. Needless to say I removed my airbox, passenger side was easy. But on the drivers side I had to remove the window washer tank and the coolant run off tank- this may sound full on and even abit over board but it was hard to get the right angle with the coat hanger. Mini meet sounds good where are you located ?? I'm in Epping/norther suburbs. P.S. I cant imagine driving a niva after a rangie, do you ever take it off road??
  8. BB GoDZiLa: Oh man I wish, when I bought my GTR I tried to find an LM every where, I had no luck- well actually i did find one but the guy wanted 90 grand............Ouch!!!! When I saw that Pic I just had to have it !! Jamezilla: A wire coathanger worked best for my lights, I did it last night, At first I didnt think it was making a difference but then I put a little degreaser on the rag the stains went away almost straight away. Try not to use a fluffy rag because it leaves fluff in side the headlight, but the good old vacum cleaner sorted that out I taped a hole series of plastic straws together and fed them inside the headlight then taped them to the pipe on the vacum cleaner and out came the small dust particles, it did get plugged a few times but it worked well.
  9. Thanks, At least I know its not an on going problem, they dont fog up at all. There are just some stains from some previous moisture. I will keep an eye on it just in case.
  10. Up untill two months ago I had a Range Rover as my daily driver. Color: Red Year: 1993 Best feature: I could drive over anything or anyone !! Worst feature: lots and lots of fuel, break downs and headaches Performance: really hard to get it going, but cruised well on the freeway, and was great off road- I think thats what killed it ! I would love to have a 4X4 for camping, and even with all the hassels the rangie gave me I would still have another one. I'm driving my GTR every day at the moment- its loud, fast and a bugger in traffic but I love it !!!! like factor: 7/10 for the rangie and the GTR is of the scale
  11. I have had a look through alot of threads and cant find anyone with this problem. My Xenon lights have some marks in them that look like condensation, the stains or spots go along the entire headlight. Has anyone come across this before, is there any easy way to open the headlight assembly and clean them ?? The headlights don't fog up, it just looks shitty. Thanks
  12. I would say weekends are best for me, I have missed the last two because they happened to fall on my rostered on days...... bugger !!! See you all at the next one
  13. Thanks Predator666. I hope they can help, I thought it was fairly straight forward. Cheers
  14. I have a friend who just received an EPA notice as well, He has a GTS-T Mspec (great car). We have both tried to find an exhaust place who will make a silencer, but so far they all say its too hard !! I was thinking of getting one for my car too, save me chasing one in the future. Does anybody know an exhaust place that has made one or is at least willing to try ??
  15. Thanks everyone, Thats the great thing about these forums you can chat with people who have been there and done it rather then taking the advise of a mechanic who wants to make more money !! I'm going to stick with the standard box and get my hands on some cam gears next !! I will probably need some more help when I get closer to buying them. Cheers
  16. I think I will leave the box standard and try to feed it more air through the front bar. If anyone had done/tried this on a GTR I would love to know ! Thanks for the help
  17. Leewah, I guess what I'm trying to find out is if the standard box provides enough air to the turbos given the mods I have, or would an additional air supply be benificial, say for example if I added another cold air feed from the front bar into the standard box. Or would that be over kill ?? Cheers
  18. Leewah Did any of those GTR's have any mods to their standard airbox, extra cold air feeds running into their standard box or airflow meters??
  19. Hi Everyone, Just need a little technical support, my GTR is running the standard airbox with a K&N filter. My mechanic is telling me to go for some pods and get rid of the factory airbox. My car already has an HKS drag intercooler and 3.5 inch exhaust from the turbo. I have been told that the only thing letting the car down is its breathing ability and that I should expect a noticable difference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  20. I have had a few run ins with the cops and your right, you need to be polite ie: not a total smart ass. It's so important to know whats legal, the first time i was stopped i didnt know alot about modifications, and I had to bring the car back to standard. I then read up as much as I could about legalities and mods and slowly started building my car up again. When I was stopped again six months later I was able to tell the cops what mods I had and how they are legal, he let me go after ten minutes. Needless to say I still squirm everytime I see a cop.
  21. Thanks for the welcome ! Hopefully I can meet everyone on the next cruise. cheers
  22. Put me down, I have never tried it but always wanted to.
  23. nick:Canadian GTR name: David Location: Epping/ Northern Suburbs Sorry no photos just yet
  24. I'm only new so my say probably doesnt count for much, but the combo sounds like a great idea. The $30 sounds about right, with extra for full membership. I'd be more then happy to help out as well.
