  1. Way to slow, but I've been running that HEL S13 -> R33 kit with a set of R33 GTSt calipers for the last 5 years, haven't had a problem with them. Obtaining replacement discs... that's a different story!
  2. Updating an old thread, but this is finally sorted. Turned out that 5 exhaust manifold gasket studs had snapped, both the ones on cylinder 6 and 3 at the front as well. My local place wanted to take the head off and drill them out, so I told them to get stuffed and took it to a place up in the valleys, a place where the owner's project car was a 400bhp SR20 S13. Got them drilled out with a right angle drill, new manifold/turbo/exhaust gaskets fitted, it sounds lovely now. Now I just need to fix a grounding issue that has developed, and a sticky solenoid in the starter motor, pretty easy stuff by comparison.
  3. Well it's been a while, but this job is finally sorted. Got the parts from irs.co.jp who will supply them nice and cheap and ship worldwide. Thanks Nic_A31 for the instructions. Only suggestion I'd make is getting that white centre clip out, I found it basically impossible to lever the thing out, what eventually worked for me was to tear up the top/sides of it with the screwdriver and then push the entire thing inwards. The seal is weaker than the clips! From there it's just the "simple" job of fishing it out from the gutter area, maybe not suitable if you have hulking great muscular arms but for me it was pretty easy to get my hand in there. Also glad I got to it when I did. The metal hasn't started rusting yet, so just had to clean up all the sloppy brown/black crap that's accumulated under there, pop the new clips in and hopefully it's sorted. Now I just need to get rid of that damp wet dog smell in the passenger footwell!
  4. Hi, Thanks for the offer, however it's actually the front passenger door one that fell off. I'm not actually too fussed about it. The car looks decent enough without them, and forward visibility is improved slightly
  5. Well I can now confirm that it was actually the turbo gasket. It just finished blowing during accelerating up to 70 from a toll booth! I guess I should do both turbo gaskets and all 6 exhaust gaskets at the same time as it looks like a pain in the arse job. Are they the same for RB20 and RB25? Different sellers seem to disagree on this.
  6. Panic over. I got my partner to have a listen to it. She is better at this kind of thing than I am. Results: It's only happening on one cylinder It gets better overall as it gets warmer. It gets worse under acceleration Conclusion: Most likely an exhaust gasket. Possibly also a noisy tappet. Annoying, but I have more important things to worry about.
  7. Ahh, that wasn't quite my question though. Splitfire are claiming the timing needs to be adjusted from the default after fitting their coils?
  8. Well I never did get around to posting pictures, but the windows don't seem to be leaking. I wonder how much I can sell the remaining three wind deflectors for
  9. I've just fitted some Splitfire SF-DIS-001 coilpacks. Initial test shows a big improvement. The car now starts instantly and no more misfire under acceleration. Not bad for an hour's work. The manual has a warning saying that after fitting them, you may get knocking/detonation and should adjust the timing to suit. I'm fairly sure the timing isn't adjustable on these engines. Is that the case? Should I be disconnecting the battery to do an ECU reset, or is that not a thing on these ECUs? I'm also thinking that next time I go into that area, I want to get rid of the pointless cover. Literally the only use it serves is to provide a mount for the power transistor. Question is where is a good place to relocate the power transistor to? Should I just cut the cover down to just the last 4 screws as even this will make it less annoying to deal with as it won't conflict with the J pipe. Anything else I should know?
  10. When it stops raining So in a week or so.
  11. Ok, I've got the other 3 of mine off, and the chrome underneath looks mostly ok, just needs a bit of a clean up now. Only problem is the bottom edge of the chrome strip had a rubber seal. Looks like it's only between the chrome and the door itself, not part of the window seal, but on both front doors this was ruined and not recoverable, so I ended up peeling it off. Have I doomed my car to leaking for the rest of its life now?
  12. Well, I have my car back now so will take them off. Luckily it seems the car has a chrome strip under the wind deflectors so if I polish that up a bit it should look quite nice. Those ebay ones are missing the chrome strip so will look odd on my car. I'll have at go at it, either tomorrow at the weekend, and see how I get on. Thanks for the reply.
  13. Not happy today. So my GF has borrowed my Cefiro because her S13 is in for repairs again. She drives a lot faster than I do and the front passenger side wind deflector decided it didn't want to be attached to the car any more, preferred the front grille of the car behind. Any idea where I can get another one? These are the original purple tinted Nissan ones with the chrome strip on them. Alternatively, how do I remove the little metal prongs that it attached to as these are quite sharp and will probably make it fail it's next MOT test.
  14. Anyone fancy buying these parts and selling them on to me? Nissan UK are bloody useless.
  15. That's exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!
  16. I wouldn't mind the part numbers. Bonus points on mine, half the top clips are missing, probably from when my windscreen was replaced, and two of the bottom clips are damaged.
  17. Still struggling with this one. All the R32 ones I've found have been the wrong type. If anything they look like a wing-mount design. I'm guessing that the GTR swapped the position of the AC condenser and intercooler, so I need to find a GTS one? Oh dear. Not many GTSes over here
  18. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/214371-a31-digital-climate-control/?hl=+daisu%20+climate%20+control http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/182202-a31-digital-climate-control-how-to-in-jap Not an official part so you're probably going to end up having to make your own.
  19. Most boring daily driver ever: Company car so 40mpg and no running costs, and the aircon works properly. Dull as hell to drive but gets the job done. Previous dailys have included a couple of Volvo 940s, VW Passat etc. My GF daily drives this: CA18DET making about 250bhp, so faster than my Ceffy SE-4... until we reach a corner.
  20. Windy day and her hair is waist length so easy to trap it when closing the door, hell I manage to shut my own hair in the door sometimes and mine's only armpit length. I usually notice before reaching a sufficient speed for the doors to auto lock. As for your other suggestion, while it has appeal it would be somewhat easier if I were a bloke
  21. Had a look but apparently my search abilities suck, not helped by the fact that all the results for "lock" are about steering, probably also not helped by my lack of knowing Australian English. The reason this came about is my GF managed to get her hair trapped in the door and didn't notice until I was joining the motorway, when she unlocked the door the dam thing fought back hard enough that it bent her fingers back.
  22. My A31 (1993 SE-4) has always done this thing where once the car starts moving it fires the central locking and locks all the doors, except the drivers. It's always annoyed me a little bit but not enough to do anything about it. Unfortunately this system seems to have developed a fault, if you attempt to unlock one of the doors it instantly locks it again. It appears that the door lock actuator is being fired continually which I imagine is going to wear them out sooner or later. I'd like the keep the central locking working, but disable this one specific feature, is there any way to do that?
  23. Hmm, you're right, the A32 one is somewhat different. Looks like it won't physically fit Oddly though, according to this site: http://www.gamela.com.tw/product/GCN1545.html An R32 one will fit? Found an R32 one on Australian eBay and it looks about right: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm//261134829805
  24. Hmm, The parts thread on here says the condensor and the dryer from the A32 fit, and I know the A32 dryer does because I did that a couple of years ago. The diagram of the A32 Maxima condensor on the various parts sites looks about right for what is in my car, something like this: Maybe the US spec A32 is different? I don't think the F31 exists in this country either.
