The reason I ask is, in the time I did 10,000 Kms I didn't need to top up the oil level at all. When I drained it, it was of course dirty coloured but certainly didn't look contaminated (ODO now reads 119K and I've never had it past 5.5-6K RPM). A few people I spoke to suggested using Motul 8100 or 300V and changing at 10,000 simply because the oil is of a much higher specification than that used in 1995 when the engine fired up for the first time in the Nissan plant. I don't really know, this is my first turbo car!

I use fully synthetic and change it at 10,000, is there any particular reason why RB's need changing at 5000?

What type/brands of oil are getting ditched at 5000Kms?

Have a look at forum trader Just Jap, they do a Blitz CS FMIC which is return flow so uses mostly existing factory plumbing and they're reasonably cheap imo

I think it really depends on whether the car is going to be a show car a daily driver or a combination of the two. I can appreciate any of those looks but I do think it would probably be a waste of time and money if you had a show car style engine bay on a daily driver, but then it's not my time and money you're spending on it

It would be good for McLaren to become a complete manufacturer, but I'm not sure it would be viable in this economical climate. There's been no mention of Toyota or BMW becoming engine suppliers since exiting F1, looks as though all 2010 cars will be powered by either Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault or Cosworth engines
