  1. As a couple of the others have said you're not insured if you crash it.. don't take the risk it's not worth it! You will also run into severe penalties if you cause an accident too - expect to end up in court at the very least. Don't even want to think about what might happen to you if you injure or kill someone driving a vehicle that you know is not P-Plate legal.....
  2. Thanks for the reply guys. The car is gone, traded it a few months back. I do miss having a Skyline, but certainly miss my old R33 much more than I miss the V35. The R33 was one sweet machine and I regret ever letting that one go.
  3. Sorry if I'm asking a silly question but apart from the two cars looking the same, is there any proof they are the exact same car? I know heaps of imports are wound back and it's rife but just wondering.
  4. Buy the TomTom car kit for iPhone. I have it and it's excellent, I use TomTom navigation with it and it is as good as a stand alone unit as it has a GPS enhancer chip. Also gives you hands free through Bluetooth for calls. A little pricy at $160 but I think worth it. I wouldn't bother with the oem screen in the v35 personally, it's a novelty.
  5. Not sure on that one but I was definately able to replace. I have the invoice at home somewhere. Apparently it was a bit of a tough job getting them out but eventually was done. Fixed the oil pooling problem in any case
  6. I replaced the seals, had the same problem. From memory it was about $65 for 6 new seals plus labour. I had the 250gt maybe the 300 and 350 are different, but I did not have to replace the whole thing.
  7. Taking delivery of the new model Mazda3 next week I'm very excited I love the car. But I will be taking the V for at least one long last cruise.
  8. Gone! Traded in today. A good bargain missed here.. May have moved further for quick sale.
  9. Gone! Traded today. New car coming next week. I'll probably still visit the forum from time to time but no more V35.
  10. Hi all, Posted this in the For Sale section but thought I would put in the V-Series forum as well. I have my 2001 Nissan Skyline V35 250GT sedan up for sale. 11. Need to sell so I'll make it even more competitive. Price now $14,900. It's a great car and I love it, but need to sell before taking delivery of my new car.

  13. Unlucky break mate! Kiddy pool = 1, V35 = 0. You probably need a professional quote done up to see how much it should cost all up then decide which way to go.. ie pay outright, claim through insurance, or depending on how bad it is, DIY through sourcing your own parts.. I don't know what your excess is but mine is $1550 (Vehicle $800 + Standard excess $400 + U/25 excess $350) with JustCar (even as a rating 1.. it's criminal that they can charge such a high excess... once my birthday rolls around in November it will drop extremely sharply to only $400 in total!!!). If your excess is high like mine you might be better off avoiding the insurance claim. Good luck with it.
  14. Thanks Ant appreciate the help. I think the sensor was replaced back in Japan under the TSB, the silver sticker is in the specified location. But if all else fails, can go back to testing for that one again, may have failed again due to age/wear. I read somewhere that excess pressure in the fuel system can trip the check engine light as well (often from filling past the first 'click'), I have since released the built up pressure and reset the light - so far so good, no engine light back on. I wouldn't have thought it would have generated the codes that I was getting, but I'm no expert on these things! See what happens I guess. If it comes back on, I will investigate the TSB that CeffyNSW mentioned. Thanks again
  15. I think you'll find that when putting the ad on Carsales.com.au/Carpoint.com.au, when completing the car details it automatically lists the auto transmission option for the 250GT as 5 speed auto, the advertiser cannot change it to 4-speed. So it is a website option problem, not because of the seller not knowing the difference. As Ant says - very easy to tell the difference by putting in manual mode and shifting up to maximum.
  16. Hey CeffyNSW thanks very much for that info, could potentially be the answer. I have since checked out all V35/G35 TSBs on the Infiniti Techinfo site, great reference for any future problems. Thanks so much for your help. I'll take this info to my mechanic.
  17. Hmm I am very confused. I can replicate the problem almost every time now. The CEL routinely comes back on driving over a mountain range, I'll drive up the hill and once the car gets to the top and the level, load and revs flatten out, bang on she flashes. I can do it over and over again, probably 90% of the time. The error codes are currently ignition timing control banks 1 and 2 malfunction... Anyone got any ideas? Need help!! I cannot seem to get to the bottom of this! I've read up some other forums and quite a few Nissan owners have had the same symptoms (CEL coming on up hills, intermittent rough idle, bad fuel economy, random error codes) and so far I have not seen a single resolution to the problem posted........ Help!!
  18. My 250gt has been throwing up error codes for some time, I've been fixing the problems identified as they have come up, but I am becoming suspicious that the problem is actually the ECU throwing up random error codes. I had the codes checked about a month ago and two error codes came up. I reset the CEL and it came on again after a short time, today I had the codes read again and two codes came up again, but at least one of them is different to last time. The two codes are P1135 and P1110, both ignition timing control, bank 1 and bank 2. In addition, on a long trip the CEL light will turn itself off without me resetting it, but will turn on again within a few days of city driving.. Firstly anyone back the idea that it is a faulty ECU? Or anyone have any other ideas? Secondly, anyone know how much it costs to repair the ECU or is it even repairable? How much for a new one, anyone know?
  19. If you can't afford the auto or manual then you shouldn't consider the cvt either... I think a new cvt is in the order of $17000 and noone in Australia specializes in fixing this particular xtroid one.. cvt failures are more common than you might like to believe.. The cvt V35s are usually cheaper for a reason.. Your call.
  20. Yeah I put through two lots of injector cleaner not long ago too.. Tried everything! The idle is rough intermittently but in terms of rpm range it is normally spot on. Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it, just a shame I can't get to the bottom of this.
  21. Manifold yes, TB no.. Would it likely be that?
  22. Yeah I think so too but my mechanic keeps blaming it on carbon deposits being blown out but I'm not sure it is.. Which is why I posted here. Thanks all for the responses. I was hoping someone might have had this problem and fixed it.. Unfortunately seems not but still hoping someone might know the magic bullet fix
  23. Nah I regularly check the dipstick to make sure the oil isn't low. It's almost 5000km since the last service and it is at the top of the high mark, so I really don't think anything relating to oil is the problem. I guess water vapour is a possibility but it appears to be a very dark plume of smoke not white or grey. It hangs around long after warming up, ie I can take it for 30 mins up the highway, turn around and floor it back down the onramp and a massive dark plume of smoke will appear behind me, really quite embarrassing. It's got me beat which is why I've now asked here, I am out of ideas.. It's anytime I plant the foot a bit or go up a hill where the engine is under load, not when cruising. I am stumped.
