Snap. After endless "best oil" searching and no discernable conclusion looking likely , ever, I went with a Valvolene 10-30 semi syn which behaved like flushing oil when hot according to my oil pressure gauge so I rissoled it after 20ks and having read every oil bottle label in Autobarn that seemed remotely relevant I to decided on the Nulon 10-40 fast flow fullsyn and so far it's looking good, nice hot /cold oil pressures and the engine sounds comfortable. Not at all technical but seems as good a yard stick as many I've read.

Just put on a Varex muffler so I'm selling the cannon it replaced , it's 3.5" inlet and 4.5" out , the hangars are set up for an R34 GT-t, it has a slight scrape underneath , noiswise it was legal on the set up I had , it's a Jap one but I can't I can't see a brand on it, it's in good useable condition. It's in Labrador on the Gold Coast. double click the pic when it comes up and it will enlarge more I want it gone so $30 pick up only. HKS POD & POWER INTAKE set up -filter and top near new- complete with all braces and bolts, reduced to $80.00 (+ P&P if you can't pick up) Fits an R34GTT will fit others with the same size AFM/OE airbox but the braces may need moddin. double click the pic when it comes up and it will enlarge more These are about $320 or so new so don't bother making any opportunistic low offers , go Supercheap and get a shitty pod for $25 and a tinny AFM adapter for about the same and orf you go.

Peculiar Flash Drive Thingo Found Under Cntr Console.
BASHO replied to BASHO's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks guys-the phone chargers have it -
I can't seem to get the search function to work properly , it won't even go to searches previously done successfully , just an FYI not a moan. This is what keeps coming up:- Erreur Sphinx : connection to localhost:3312 failed Merci de contacter un Administrateur ! Cheers Al. Oh, and while I'm here, when posting the emoticons panel on the left of the text entry box only appears occasionaly. A.

Thanks guys , sorted , I renewed the fuse-again- and tried a plug in 12v vac I had lying around and it worked fine so socket wasn'tfaulty, so on to the Hot 4's freeby, which actualy didn't fit the socket, so I stripped the guts out of it and put them in the old one and it worked fine, I couldn't resist the flashing LEDS and chrome golf ball looking push thingo so I put that on for good measure , now the car feels much faster, he he. Then I realised I'd given up smoking 3 years ago.

Thanks for that, I've taken out the gearstick surround panel and the stereo/ a/c unit and as far as I can see nothing has been run of the lighter wire or the cable it goes into, the only non stock thing in the car is the alarm and I have no idea how this was set up. Can the alarm cable be picked up at the fuse box or elsewhere, I'm a dummy when it comes to wireing, if it isn't obvious I realy don't know where to start. 2LV8ETRPosted Yesterday, 05:05 PM Try a different lighter in the socket and see what happens. The lighter itself may be cactus and is creating a dead short instead of heating the element. Thanks mate I'll give that a go, I've got an led one that came with a Fast Fours about 10 zillion years ago still in it's packing and kept under the --it'll come in usefull sometime ??
-
I was installing some wireing and had to remove the centre console under which I found this :-- double click the image again when it comes up and it will enlarge further. I spent a couple of rather worried minutes trying to find where it may have droped out before relievedly realising that it was just a UFO . I'm just wondering if anyone knows what it actualy is -or does ? It doesn't fit in a conventional flash drive slot and the only thing near where it was found is the airbag computer thingo to which it did not appear to belong.
-
Everytime I press the cigarette lighter in it blows the fuse , does anyone know why this would be so ? I've checked the wireing as far as I can and it appears good and unmolested.the fuse is 15amp and correct according to the diagram on the fuse box lid.

Nah, phoned a few exhaust shops and all I got was telephone Nos and bullshit so I bought a Varex 3.5"in 3.5"out oval single tip (as I already have a 3.5" cat back system that came with the car). I got it from these guys for $417.00 delivered to my door (theres pics of the system I was wanting here too) . http://www.bestmufflers.com/Information/Cu..._nissan_r34.htm I'll phone around on Monday to see where I can get it fitted at a sensible price and I've alread done the wiring for the remote which took me around 2 hours as I had to take the back seat sit on bit out to get the wireing through from the boot, there's probably an easier way I just couldnt find it and I want to make sure that the wireing is absolutely undetectable not just cable tied underneath the car and fed up through the gearshifter hole.

Good thinking ,I'm wanting to clean out the AAC valve so I've got a very small easy-out bit thingo from Bunnings and that should get it whilst the thing is orf, the real problem will be replacing it, I'm thinking of drilling and setting a small self tapper in the adjusting bolt/screw with 222-02 locktight , the only other alternative I can see is to find a same sized bolt and have one turned to suite or cut a groove in the top whilst the valve is out There's not much chance of doing anything whilst the valve is still in other than what you suggest, and you can just imagine the fun when the idiot thet stripped it in the first place starts playing round with red hot screwdrivers under the bonnet, he he.
-
Thanks for that , tried them , no go. tried nissan-t no go and they told me when no part No is shown but the part is present then that part will be part of the larger part which is shown and a part no shown for it. so that means that to replace the adjust screw you have to buy the entire AAC valve set up at around $600.00 sheeesh . So, not surprisingly, I'm still looking.

I have a slighty fast and a tad sticky/eratic idling issue and I want to clean this out first as the throttle body will be the next likely culprit and that looks like a PITA to do. My main concerns are the three water hoses with what looks like a bleed screw on the top that connect to the AAC housing as I'm not sure whether the entire plenum is water heated or just the aac housing or in fact WTF this hose Snowy Mountain Scheme is all about , the rest of it seems pretty straight forward . Can anyone please help explain the hose thingos .?? I have noted that the carby cleaner is quite explicit about NOT allowing it to come in contact with any sensors, stepper motors and the like so it's obviously pretty toxic--it's a Nulon one, so I'll be dismounting the sensor and cleaning it with contact cleaner separately. Its this one:-98-R34GT-t double click when the image comes up and it goes huge

Someone has to need this magnificent beauty surely ?-bump -
Can anybody point me in the direction of a sensibly priced, nice work, Gold Coast or nearby exhaust/muffler shop. I've had a couple of quotes without specification other than cat back, needs to be free flowing and legal and nearly fallen over at the prices. I've now got specifications and a rough idea of what I should be paying , now all I need is someone to do it. Just in case you're a muffler person heres the basic specs. It's a 3" catback, mild steel (not S/S) for an R34GTT and goes like this:- 3x3" mandrel bends (2x90* 1x30*) 1x Berkley 3" resonator (14"x4") Pt No BSO439 1x XForce oval rear muffler twin out part No MP01-76 3x3" flanges. + add on a few feet of pipe and the labour. Cheers all, Al.

I've inadvertently rounded out the philips screw hole in the idle air adjust screw thingo, which, for those who do not know as I didn't, is actualy plastic, so beware ! I've looked for the part No at Nissan ,and though very helpfull they couldn't locate it and niether could I when they showed me the parts schematic, every damn thing was shown, except the screwy thingo. So Anyone got a spare one they would like to sell ? OR--anyone know the part No ?? AND-- anyone got any idea as to getting the sucker out ? not happy Jan.

Mate the one pictured in the > THIS < is perfect , cost made up cat back only by Best Mufflers $700 fitted, drive it away. custom only , no off the shelf. Cost quoted for a similar set up cat back only by two different local muffler guys , around, ah hem, $1100 Chris at Best Mufflers was good enough to give me a parts costing , retail inc GST but not frieght, just in case I wanted to buy the bits and then hawk em round muffler shops to see if someone would do the make up for me at a reasonable price. It goes like this:- 3x3" mandrel bends (2x90* 1x30*) @ $20ea--------------------------------------------------$ 60.00 1x Berkley 3" resonator (14"x4") Pt No BSO439-----------------------------------------------$ 85.00 1x XForce oval rear muffler twin out part No MP01-76----------------------------------------$195.00 3x3" flanges Pt Nos FT276 @ $10.00ea----------------------------------------------------------$ 30.00 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------TOTAL---$370.00 Of course add on a few feet of pipe and the labour (say 3 hours) and there's your $700. Now of course the question arises now that I have the specs, "Which Bank" woops, I meant Muffler shop. Any ideas anyone Gold coast or close by ?

Cool, you wouldn't be able to point me to a manufacturer that makes just such a number thats not an angle out by any chance , like I wrote before I don't like the angle out jobby--just me I guess , everyone else seems to favour em.
-
Thanks guys , if I come across a nice 3" cat back (thats not angle out) second handy or new thats the way I'll go otherwise I'll go the Varex. All the newby cat backs I have found so far have an angle out muffler which I'm not keen on personaly. If anyone knows of a 3" cat back system thats not angle out please post I'm getting a bit googled out trying to find one.
