  1. Thanks for the replys guys reality check is a real 170 to 180 ATRW would be fine but I'd like to achieve that without pulling 6000+rpm to do it, as this is my first Skyline I'm a bit at sea with what turbo will do what. I've had a couple of 00 WRXs before and with those I'd just slap on a VF28 a 3" turbo back zorst and an ECUtec tune and and orf I'd go with safe as houses engine and around a quick 180Kws AAF. I'm sure theres a similar formula for the R34 I just can't seem to find it, I'm not after monster top end power just a quick street spool, the stock propeller seems to start its run at around 3500rpm so I'm guessing I'd be looking for something that starts aroung 2800/3000rpm. I'm not keen on throwing away the factory ECU considering what I'm after so a flashtune that reverts to stock as a 1st default would be my preference, if such a thing exists ? Don't get me wrong the car goes very nicely I'm just being a bit of an Oliver.
  2. I'm thinking I may go for a bit more oomph (R34GTT). I dont want much and reckon about 190 to 220Kw ATRW will be fine and I'd like to see it by around 4500rpm so I'll be after something that spools up smartly. Has anyone any idea as to what turbo I'd be looking for ? I'm not bothered about huge top end at 6500/7000rpm , it's a streeter and I'm not bothered about shit I won't/can't use. I've read good results can be obtained fron Hi flowing the stocky but I realy aint got a clue what I'm looking for so any advice is welcome. I'm also not interested in flinging a front mount on it, closer to stock I can be whilst getting what I'm after the more I like it. The car has an exhaust system that could cope with anything I and ten others could throw at it so the only other thing would be what engine management ? I was wondering if an SAFC might be enough ? or a reflash but where from ? I've read shitloads of stuff and am none the wiser.
  3. Can anybody tell me how to remove the handbrake grip/handle on an R34GTT I thought I knew--I don't
  4. Or C's or similar short shift kit BUMP
  5. You have PM. sorry for the dupe request for instructions I sent it before I read this post, Cheers, Al.
  6. Like the title I'm wanting a stock R34GTT gear stick pm me if you've got one you want to sell and let me know how much you want for it.
  7. I'd like one please , could you let me know how long for delivery , does it come with install instructions (I'll need them) and could you PM me an Acc No so I can put the dosh in, I'm in Surfers. Thanks, Al.
  8. Absolutely correct hence my previous post and the 10% question, a genuine short shift requires the movement of the pivot point of the gear lever itself which I presume the scandalously priced "kits" do here is one example of a trader who should be rooted with thier short shiter just on the price alone as an example. http://www.300zx.com.au/pricelists/pricelist_gtrgearbox.htm
  9. I'm presuming that the one that reduces the throw 10% is just a shortened version of stock and the 25% or so reducer is the kit version ???????????? I EM'd Driftshop yesterday and am waiting a reply. I wonder if there would be enough interest to get a small group buy up and running ?
  10. The only C's ones I coud find were for R33s and RRPing at around $760.00+frieght which is more than I'm prepared to pay by a long chalk, do you know if the R33 C's ones are a fit for the R34GTT box ? If they are and a second handy pops up I might have a go at it.
  11. Thanks for that, wouldn't know of any locals as well by any chance ?
  12. I put GFB short shifters in both of my previous WRXs, I just like the shorter throw even though it may take a little more effort, the GFB ones are also adjustable in the amount of throw they have , I prefer just off the shortest which is just off the harder to shift end. I have'nt driven or had one in a Skyline but I imagine the same scenario will be in play hence my question about type of shifter to see if some may be friendlier than others.
  13. Like the title , I'm looking for a short shifter for an R34GTT has anyone got any recomendations and or knows whwere I can get one from ?
  14. Were these the late model 2.5 motors ? I know there was a motor problem globaly with the, I think, MYO8 model WRX didn't know it was in B4s though.
  15. This may be a bit of help if you've cleaned out you're AAC valve thingo (R34GTT) double clic to enlarge then double click again to supersize I think if you have a big zorst and/or pod you may find that even when set it'll still run a bit over the OE 650/700 rpm set level.
  16. Absolutely correct ! why, some have actualy grown up , found out they didn't like it atall and grown down to a caefully pre selected level.
  17. Terminaly comatose comes to mind
  18. x 2 I'm an ex-rex bod and believe that the last real rexs were the 00s and it's been all downhill from there culminating in 'The Betty' , now while this may be a fabulous car much beloved by the three or, wow, four people that bought them it's not a WRX , take a step back and look at the farkin thing , it looks like an American tarts shopping trolley. Women when polled about ' The Betty' actualy liked them FFS, that should be a clear message that the mould had been well and truly broken. Sorry call the friken thing anything you like , just not a WRX.
  19. My bad MUST be SUPER otherwise it''ll rip rap like you point out.
  20. And an earth wire kit.
  21. A friend of mines gf was changing gears for him which was fine , until he got jammed up in traffic next to a bus in Neutral Bay.
  22. The whole automotive world is smoke mirrors and shonk. Find the car/cars you're realy interested in then get on Redbook and find out what the buy & sell price is , remember when you drive it off the yard it's only worth what you can sell it for, to a dealer, not what the rrp may be, or what you just payed, or Freddy the duckwit moder says it is. And I'll tell you what a dealer will pay--bottom trade wholesale less around 15%, anything over is just emotion--yours. So it's up to you, have a go price carefully thought through before you start to negotiate and walk away if it isn't met, it's not your concern if a car owes a dealer to much and he can't do the deal, remember -there's always a better one round the corner.
  23. In relation to your NISMO comparison I have to disagree, several tuning houses take the STI to another level and these may be comparable to the NISMO 400R . It's hardly relevant to compare specialist production runs unless you do it with a comparable car on the year. Reality is straight off the production line. WRX = GTT STI = GTR And IMO both of these comparisons favour the Skyline unless you're basing the comparison on the AWD in which case you can't actualy compare WRX and the GTT atall. Heres a couple of pics of my last 00 WRX. ---double click the image to enlarge then clik again to supersize.
  24. Had two 00 WRXs great car, got a 98 R34GTT and I'm enjoying it, realy can't compare the two the drive is so different,(AWD v RWD) it would be interesting as a point of interest to see these driven stock by people who can actualy drive quickly at the track. To compare the STI (and be fair) I think you would have to compare it with the same year GTR .
