  1. Just been looking around at the g4 plug ins today and they all seem to be $1895 for just the ecu. Where did you manage to score one from for the price you got it for?
  2. Thanks for that! I would love to hear from some of these guys and see what they thought of overall power and how their cars drove with the safc2 and turbo upgrades etc.
  3. Yeah im definatly gonna email nistune and see what they say. I definatly would like to give the whole tuning thing a shot myself. Nistune might be a good start if the safc2 doesnt work out.
  4. Awww ay thats cool. Would like to definatly learn! Whats the learning curve like? Did you teach yourself by reading of the net? Or do you have mates that know alot about tuning? Id definatly be keen to learn and get to know the sdu nz crew ay.
  5. Wow thats alright ay, Last time I asked someone for a qoute I think they told me like almost 2000 for just the ecu. Have you ever tried to tune one or play around with one?
  6. Wow thats cool. Ill have to check out your thread on SDU NZ. Last time I looked you were still running stock turbo. Thats cool as to know then ay ill keep that in mind. How much did you pay for a G4? Im still torn as to if the safc 2 doesnt work out what to get lol. I would love to get my hands on a power fc but they are rare and expensive when I see them. The main thing thats so attractive about the G4 is that its local and everyone knows how to tune them by the sounds of it lol. I really want to give it a shot myself ay. Safc and RSM are in the car all ready to go. Currently Im waiting for my mate to finish the Catch Can and Exhaust as I was still running a stock dump pipe. Also tryna find someone that can paint and play with fibre glass as I got some GTR Style End Caps that need to go on and a little drift wing to. Then its wof cert and reg lol.
  7. Heya thanks for that. Are you Turbine on the Skylines Down Under New Zealand Thread? Ive been following your build up aye. Yeah well its just that because I have seen some of the guys on here run safc 2's with upgraded turbo's I thought I would give it a shot. If it drives fine and I am happy with it then thats 3k I dont have to fork out for a link g4 and dyno tune or power fc and tune. Would be nice if someone in wellington tuned nistune but aparently not so If I am not happy with the safc 2 I will use my spare 300zx ecu and get a nistune daughter board and tune that. And if I need a 300zx afm I also got one of them lying around so will use that if I need to.
  8. That will be the plan if im unhappy with the results of using the safc 2.
  9. Cool many thanks for that. Timing is definatly in stock position but will double check again before I begin.
  10. Thats cool. I always wondered what that sheet of paper said lol. Might play around with them when I get my wide band and see if they are a good start for base settings or something like that.
  11. Thanks for that. I have already done the knock sensor calibration so will keep an eye on it. Also why did you use a adjustable fuel pressure regulator with your setup? Were you trying to use the adjustable fuel pressure refulator to get as close to the afr as possible and then decrease fuel only where needed to avoid knock because of the safc 2's behaviour? Thanks for yuour advice. And Id still love to hear from others who have also tried to tune safc 2 themselves. Did you ever play around with the cas much to adjust your base ignition timing or did you just leave it at stock? As mine is currently stock as that what I read to put it at before I start playing with the safc 2.
  12. Hey yeah ive got that page but its in japanese lol haha. Would be interested to know what it does say ay. That manual is based on the first safc I think as it only use 8 Correction Points compared to 12. Yeah I wouldnt think using the suggested tune is a good idea. Be interesting to know if any one has and as to weather it made a difference? I looks like its still running very rich afr's.
  13. Awww wow I had no Idea Soichi tuned nistunes. MIght have to give him a bell and find out.
  14. Thats intersting I always thought the stock ecu had 6 ignition drivers. Not knocking on Link at all sorry if I implied that in anyway. I would love to have a full aftermarket ecu any day as I know they are better, but I would like to start with safc 2 since its there. I picked a 300zx ecu for very cheap as well so eventually I will move to nistune if I am not happy with safc 2. I would like to try tune it myself as it is something I am very interested in. Who in Auckland tunes nistunes? I didnt realise there was someone in Aucks that did.
  15. And Thank You! Will definatly let you know how I get on! Hope more people will reply and share their experiences as well. Its been shown that people have run safc2's with highflow turbos and other bolt ons so I am very interested to know what they thought of how their car drove. Don Dada, since you have been down this track before, Did you use the knock funtion on the safc 2 to detect knock? And if so what kinda numbers are the ones to watch out for and what would be considered normal? I still would like to know what people have set their 12 NE Correction points to. Not that actual corrections made on the safc 2. And also what they set their High Throttle and Low Throttle % to. Still learning so still want to hear from everyone and their experiences if they have tuned a safc 2.
  16. Correct me if im wrong please, but if it is a colder day or cold night doesnt your afm have more chance of maxing out / reaching maxing voltage compared to if it was a hot day?
  17. http://www.anthonymcgrath.co.uk/gtroc/coilpacks.htm I found this one. This is on a gtr but the process should be very similar for a R34 Gtt. Will just need to remove the cross over J Pipe. Also the R34 Gtt Rb25det uses different coils as they do not have a igniter box like the earlier rb25det's, rb20det's and rb26dett. So when you buy them just make sure you get the correct ones. The Splitfire coil packs do come with instructions but they are in Japanese. They do have pictures though which are easy enough to follow.
  18. I Have only changed them in my R33 Gts25t, but I would assume its the same process for changing them in a R34 Gtt. It is fairley straight forward. There is no re wiring needed. They should plug straight in. I believe I have a walkthrough some where or I have seen one. I will try find it.

  20. Might seem like a waste of time. But I picked up the Safc 2 for next to nothing. And if people have managed to run there cars with improved over all driveability on them and been happy with it then theres no reason to fork out hundreds or thousands of dollars for a full on aftermarket ecu. My cars not auto it is manual. I did take my car for a drive last night around the block with all my new bits installed on it. And it seems to be running very nicely. Does seem to have a couple of flat spots before 4500 rpm. So If I can compromise with the safc and iron out that flat spots to the best I can I might be happy with it and not need to go for a full aftermarket ecu. I would love to get a power fc but they are getting very expensive and rear. I would most probably go nistune later on and try tune that myself. I have my doubts about link. I know the g4 is much better than their previous products but it still only has 3 ignition drivers which to me cant be good for car that runs six seperate coil packs. At the end of the day I would love to get a aftermarket ecu straight away but money doesnt grow on tree's and I also have other commitments like saving for a house and bla bla bla.
  21. I got Splitfires from Nengun, and I can say I dont regret getting them one bit. Car runs mint as. My Opinion is Splifires for the win. I have mates which have gone for cheaper options that are available, but I didnt want to take the risk as some of my mates have had good experiences and some of them have had bad experiences with the cheaper options.
  22. This is good to know. So were you running a adjustable fuel pressure regulator as well, and adjusting base ignition timing using the cas? And you just used the safc 2 knock detection function to detect knock? What kinda numbers are indications of knock on the safc 2? So it sounds like you saying that for full throttle tuning the safc 2 is ok but its tuning part throttle at high rpm's the engine was knocking a bit? This is good, I am interested to hear more :-)
  23. I will do if im not happy with how the safc 2 turns out, Will most probably do nistune since I already have a z32 ecu. But yeah in the mean time would be great to hear advice from people that have tune their cars themselves to get some advice, expecially if they have tuned a safc themselves before.
  24. I fully understand the benifits of going for a full on after market ecu, compared to tuning with the safc. But I am interested from hearing of the guys that have achieved the power figures I have mentioned. Want to hear what the think about the power difference if it made any all around. Sorry it is partley my fault as I should have been more specific in my first post. I also understand that forking out all this money for a EGT and AFR Gauge and sensors, that if I was to save my money I could get a nistune, power fc etc. But I am quiet keen to try tune my self. Purely because of the satisfation that I get when I have done my own work on my car. Also for the learning experience to. So yeah I guess the main purpouse of this is to hear what people thought of their car when it was tuned with just a safc 2 and running uprated turbos, like highflow turbos etc and other mods. Just from reading your last post paulr33 please correct me if im wrong, but it sounds like that tuning the safc 2 for low throttle would be quiet a challange then since you can't adjust the light cruise target? Also becase you are limited to 12 NE points to bend the air flow meter signal, where as if I had a full aftermarket ecu I could adjust the light cruise target afr's and ignition timing to suit? But because the safc 2 does have a low throttle option to be able to bend the maf signal, i would hope there is some way to tune this, and was wanting to now how people went about this and what target afr's they tune for under low throttle. Obviously it will be more difficult with the safc 2 to achieve the perfect afr's because as your said attempting to go leaner, would result in the ignition timing advancing due to the way the safc 2 works so would have to try compromise and get as close as possible. I have read your posts so far and they have been great to read and learn from so thanks for that :-). Please keep the advice and posts comming as I am willing to read and learn as alotta people so far seem very clued on this forums compared to others.
  25. Yeah I have a spare Z32 ecu that I was gonna use to get a nistune. Yeah that is a down side that no one in Wellington will tune them. It would be nice to try tune myself though. Still intereasted in the cars that have achieved 200 - 230 rear wheel kilowatts with using the safc2 piggy back.
