timing depending on the type of ECU can advance from 15 degs base to about 35-50 on high load. since your ecu has been chipped... depending on who chipped it may be more removing the CAS and getting one tooth out can make a lot of difference. if you take the CAS off and then rotate the teeth, when you put it back on the adjustment can be so far out that standard adjustment point will not get it back down to 15 degrees base @ 800rpm on a warm engine. you'll have to remove the CAS rotate a tooth backwards, put it back on and then measure the timing again and see if you can adjust it then to get 15 degrees

yep this fix is on the platinum hotwire itself. just remove the mesh and be really careful. i spray electrical contact cleaner onto a cotton bud and gently remove all the crap. the wire can be easily broken! im back to stock air box now cos on observation last weekend the wire is tarnished and i think its the oil from the uni filter (even though I squeeze it out etc as per instructions). i dont know what other pod filters are like in regards to this problem as for the other electrical components in the AFM these are under some electrical jelly and i woudn't touch those Z32 AFM on a R32 ecu will need some VQ map adjustment when doing a rechip http://darkhalf.r31skylineclub.com/nisemu/index.html

even a mines computer _should_ be reprogrammable. either get the image directly off the chip or download through consult (if the program hasn't disabled that feature). it is possible to get images from a R33 mines computer once my emulator s/w is finished should be able to tune any of RB/VG/CA ecus

depeding on the problem with them i have had some luck with electrical contact cleaner on the hotwire http://darkhalf.r31skylineclub.com/afm oil based filters seem to let crap go onto the wire

R33/R34 stock ECUs are tunable but require a daughterboard and emulator (which is what I'm gathering PowerPlay would be doing) Theres a lot of stuff for sale on GRID.co.jp to do this Basically the stock boost cut can be changed in the standard ECU as well as making ignition, fuel maps etc tunable. An example in some software I'm writiing applies to Skylines, 300ZX, Silvias etc http://home.iprimus.com.au/darkhalf/temp/n...istune-duty.jpg matt

S-afc2 On A Rb20det R31, Second Hand?
darkhalf replied to Mcboost's topic in General Automotive Discussion
what type of RB20 in the R31 (redtop ECCS/NICS? or silver?) the pinouts for the R31 and R32 ECUs are on my site http://darkhalf.r31skylineclub.com -

Planning to get an import R31
darkhalf replied to mickah_2002's topic in General Automotive Discussion
any of the HR/CR 31 ecus can be rechipped so i dont see that being a problem. the HR31-T models have two fuel/ignition maps and the CR31 have only one fuel/ignition i've just finished the fuel/ignition remapping portion of my software which i hope soon to plug into any of these -

the idling when neutral switch = ON and TPS = ON (no accelerator) the ECU adjusts to the previously stored pulsewidths which make it run stoich according to the ecu had stored. this may be running it with higher pulsewidth adjustment prior to your ecu reset and now is running factory settings since you cleared the RAM the ECU has capacitor backed up RAM (whether separate chip or inside MCU) . any method of removing power will allow the cap to discharge and you will lose the RAM contents of which the ECU will then rely on O2/knocking information to recreate this data with the current configuration of the engine

check that they support the same output voltages z32 is 0-5 volts i know r31 is 2 - 4 volts, what is r33 other thing is that you need to rechip the VQ Map and K constant on the R33 ecu to measure the new resolution values from the Z32 AFM which means desolderng the R33 MCU, socketing it, buying a ~$90 jap one, programming it and then hoping you got it right (cos its program once only unless you get the $400 window type MCU chips)
-
if distorting, you are prob just running the preamp and end transistors in the amp at the top end of their limits isn't a speaker basically a long thin piece of wire coiled? how does having a lower voltage output (even with distorted signal) cause overheating in the speaker coil? the current consumed by the speaker is constant and the voltage (which is underspecified in this case - hence wattage is lower) so you shouldn't burn out the speaker, the amp would die first
-
not easily. uses a hitachi H8536 and like the R33 requires mcu to be removed from main board and to get a UV erasable chip from japan is something like $400

Running Skyline on low octane fuel
darkhalf replied to Duncan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
hmm it kinda works that way. i've seen from consult logs that there is also fuel enrichment done also as well as decreases in ignition timing. there is also a limit on how much knocking can occur before the ECU will then uses the low octane fuel/ignition maps instead of the high octane maps. (the high octane maps contain a flag where to listen for knocking in certain low/rev ranges and if knocking is detected beyond a certain limit that is where the software apparently switches maps) -

Skyline BBQ and cruise Sat 13th Dec @ Belair Golf Course
darkhalf replied to darkhalf's topic in South Australia
once i get the map i'll scan it and link it! -
We are having a R31 Skyline Club BBQ and cruise this Saturday 13th Dec! All other Skylines are welcome to join! * We will be meeting at Belair Golf Course Car Park at 12 midday for the BBQ. * The cruise will depart from the same car park at 2pm and maps will be provided. You can just attend the cruise if you can't make the BBQ Getting thereTo get to Belair Golf Course.... * From the city follow Belair road until it hits Main Road and go down this until you see Laffers Road and turn here * From the south from South Road, go up Shepherds Hill Road, then turn Left on Main Road (in Glenunta) and go up over the train tracks until you read Laffers Road and turn here Turn right at the end Laffers Road at Upper Sturt road and continue down until you see a small road which goes into the Belair Golf Course (where you see Main Oval in the street directory). When driving you should see sign saying Belair National park - its just past the National Park. Meeting details We will be meeting at the carpark for both the BBQ and the cruise. The BBQ area is a small walk from the carpark Adam will be there setting up about 11:30am contact him on 0403176783, the starting time for the BBQ is around 12 Bring your own drinks and there will be a small amount of money required for the food on the day (Adam will be bringing some drinks still but anything special bring your own). I will also be selling club stickers that day for $3.50 each If you are going to the BBQ you need to LET US KNOW YOU ARE ATTENDING BY THIS WEDNESDAY ON 0403358142 OR REPLY TO THIS EMAIL/THREAD so we can get the correct supply of food! If you are just attending or joining in on the cruise afterwards, then just rock up to the carpark. We are also sending this out by SMS for a good turnout. Hope to see you there http://www.r31skylineclub.com/forum/index....y;threadid=6081 thanks Matt

i assume RB25 http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~logic/carpage...rb25diagram.jpg is the closest you're going to get unless someone else has a scan

red is power for the internal heater black is ground (other end of heater) yellow is interesting. aftermarket? the ones i've seen are white but would be the actual probe which returns 0-1v depending how much exhaust gas is passing past. note that O2 sensors are matched to different ECUs and the stoich curves may be different (ie an RB30 O2 may have a more narrow curve than the RB25 ECU is programmed for)

the chiptorque chip is a special board that fits into an EPROM socket which can be flashed programmed by chiptorque only. its got copyprotection on it so it can't be ready by a conventional EPROM programmer. that is what you pay $500 ... their piece of mind cos you really pay for the tuning afterwards not that its impossible to read the flash chip by other means :-)

check with GTS2TURBO on the R31 forums. he got bigger than 250CC ones (something like 370CC) put in www.r31skylineclub.com
-
either that or if you get the RB25 rechipped (somehow) for the Z32 Voltage quantifier map then you wouldn't need an interceptor
-
even if you do - someone crashed into my mates car and then they ran off. just hapened that they stole that car and since the orignal owners weren't driving there was no way to get money from insurance

Who chips R33 GTS-t ecus
darkhalf replied to PHaT MR30's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
nissan ECUs dont only have maps but have constants for different things like automatic, manual loading and many other things which no one really knows (yet) currently someone i know is writing a software simulator to work out what everything does on an R31 ECU K constant is for base injector pulsewidth and would of course be different between R32/R33 ECUs -
Who chips R33 GTS-t ecus
darkhalf replied to PHaT MR30's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
well the japs know how to do it cos romeditor has the address files for remapping the ecus. the chip itself is a MPU which contains everything on it. silvias with MPU can be rechippped but they're easy cos they've got pads on the PCB to do it. skylines from what it sounds need a replacement for the MPU to perform the same functionality
