so the general opinion here seems to be that the motul turbolight 4100 is a better choice for the rb25 than the nulon 10W40 (apparent 'full syn')? I just did an oil change with the nulon in mine but from what im reading here I might put the motul in it next time

What Can I Expect From My List Of Mods I Am About To Put On?
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
good info. yeah it is a 3inch system and i think it has a high flow cat but i will check it when i put the dump pipe in. Will I cause any harm if i run the car with the cooler, full exhaust and stock boost? will it cause problematic AFRs? I will get it tuned but I just want to make sure I get all the mods I want done first. Definately will change those sensors too. thanks for the tip! -
ok sounds pretty solid to me, i used the 33 one because it was vbigger and I figured thats a good thing but ill be sticking with that I think, was curious

Hi, I have bought myself a r33 gts-t turbo manual with only 86,000ks. The car is immaculate, its my first turbo car and my first nissan and I must say I have fallen in love with it. The car is currently stock and has a pod filter (no box), cat back exhaust (appears to be good quality, 3inch stainless with two large mufflers, fairly quiet) I have done a service on it myself, cleaned the afm, new engine oil, diff oil, gearbox oil and new platinum plugs. it is going in this week for a timing belt and water pump. Oh the other mod is a big alloy radiator... anyway now that the car is all serviced up I want to start modifying it for a little more power. My goal here is to make it as responsive as possible while keeping as much power in the usable street range as possible. This is what I had in mind, was keen to see what people though, what I havnt thought of and what they think the gains will be? not just from a power point of view but an on road feel. I have got most of these parts, just waiting on the cooler and then a day off to fit it all at once. - Return flow intercooler (to keep it legal) - re-fit stock airbox - fit a BMC panel filter - make a scoop to direct air up into the snorkle This will be stage one. what should I get out of this? stage two will be - fit a 3inch dump pipe - replace rear muffler with a cannon or something similar for a little better note as it is too quiet At this point will I need a full tune or should the computer adjust for it accordingly? If I am not happy with it still I will have the boost pressure increased to 10ish or more if required but will be mindful of the stock turbo. Look forward to peoples input Thanks Jason

Fs R33 Intercooler Kit Return Flow
TUF250 replied to tshaw44's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
hi mate im interested. can you please post up some pics or send them to 0431 286 689. what suburb are you in for pick up? -
I was asked by the guy at autobarn if I wanted to buy an R33 or R34 filter for my R33 gts-t. He said a number of people do it? The r34 filter appeared smaller. Is there any advantage to using the 34 filter?

I am selling my Ray Ban sunglasses. There is nothing wrong with them, I just found out I need actual glasses so I have bought some perscription sunglasses in a 2 for 1 deal. They are genuine Ray Bans. Made with Italian quality. Retail for more than twice what I am asking! The part number on the glasses is 2013 62 12-129. They have grey lenses, silver frame and only a couple of tiny tiny marks on the lenses, barely noticable. Will post at buyers expense or can be picked up from SE suburbs $150 Jason 0431 286 689 [email protected]

sorry i ment BMC filter, italian made, apparently very good quality

Ok guys I am putting the stock airbox back in the r33 gts-t that I just bought. I am trying to work out what panel filter is best. I have used K&Ns before on many cars but all the reading (i have searched) on here says steer clear due to them oiling up the hotwire in the airflow meter. I had an issue with this on my XR8 so I would rather keep clear of them for that reason alone. So I started looking at the apexis, which were recommended on this site. What I want to know is how much better do they flow than the standard ryco filters? is there any improvement or are you paying for the name that is sprayed on it? also how do you clean these seeing as they are paper? Second, I rang autobarn for a price on an apexi filter and he told me they stock only BMCfor the nissans, not K&N for the reason described above. He said the BMCs have better filtration and use much less oil and therefore dont do any harm. is this true? would they flow alot better than the apexi?
-
i have been avoiding the oil filters. I spoke to a guy at autobarn (while trying to find their apexi prices) and he suggested their B<C filter. he sadi they dont stock K&Ns for the nissans due the hot wire but the BMC uses tighter fibers and therefore needs much less oil and can be used with an air flow meter setup safely. what is the general opinion here? was he talking crap or are these infact a solid choice? I can get one through them for $95 which makes it the most cost effective one so far but I dont want it to cause any problems with my air flow meter

Boost Controller Question That I Cant Find An Answer To?

Boost Controller Question That I Cant Find An Answer To?
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah i did see that link. thanks though. i was keen to retain the factory hi/low setting and was wondering if a manual boost controller would remove that or if you put it up 3 psi for example if it would just become 8/11 instead of 5/8 was also keen to hear peoples opinions on turbo wear thanks -
Hi everyone, I recently bought myself a clean r33 turbo which is my first turbo car. I have been reading through the forum and searching like mad and have learnt some really great stuff! there really is a great amount of info on here. The problem is I cant find an answer to this question, it is probably really simple and hasnt deserved a thread until now I am trying to get my head around these boost controllers. i know the 33's run 5 psi low boost and then up to 8 passing 4500rpm. I would like to increase mine to the 10ish mark (to look after the frail stock turbo!) what i am wondering is: - will this shorten the life of the turbo dramatically? - can i retain the hi/low boost function with a boost controller? without a tune (to begin with) can this be done? will I have to use an electronic and not a bleed valve? any info here would be great! also how tolerant are the 33s when it come to mods and engine mods? i will be getting the car re-tuned eventually but i would like to use the mods as i buy them and not have to wait until i have collected them all and do it all at once. will the ecu be able to adjust and handle the basic mods (cooler, sligth boost increase, turbo back exhaust) without any fueling problems? dont want to risk the motor thats all! thanks in advnace jason

Is The Exhaust My Car Came With Any Good?
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
also does anyone have a pic of the standard cat, i think the system has a aftermarket cat on it but it dosnt have a brand on it so i cant be sure. I want to change the dump pipe to a 3inch unit soon so wondering if its worth doing the cat while im in there thanks! -
Hi folks. I have bought myslef a low k, very clean r33 gts-t manual. have serviced all the oils, plugs and timing belt and am now ready to start the power mods. My question is in relation to the exhaust. My car wa imported with a stainless steel 3 inch mandral exhaust. It has two large mufflers on it. the one at the back is slightly larger. They have a JASMA badge on them and K&F i think it was stamped into them? lookign inside with a torch the back one seems to be straight through but has two pipes running through the body but single 3" in and out. My question is are these any good? do they flow well and not worht changing? the system has a nice note but is very quiet (definately legal!) Any recommended way of getting a little more noise out of it without bringing on drone? thanks in advance Jason

its a series two r33 gts-t manual (i dont know if it makes a diff but its a type M 40th anniv.) the symbol almost looks like a ciggy (a cylinder with a dividing line) and then there is an up and down arrow. the switch is momentory and definately looks factory. it is next to the cup holder. i can hear a relay clicking behind the dash when you press it
-
ok sounds good. i like the idea of the apexi ones because they are paper. any idea where i can get one and what i should expect to pay? can they be cleaned?
-
sorry to hijak, in relation to the panel filters, are the apexi ones the way to go? what about the drift brand? they are both paper I think so can you clean them or are they a throw away item?
-
yeah ill take a pic, definately a factory switch though (well looks like it anyways!),my aerial is broken but i dont think its the aerial because there is a switch on the left side of the dash near the wiper arm that looks like it might be the aerial?
-
I bought myself an R33 gts-t. near the handbrake there is a momentory switch. It has a tube pictured on it with both an up and down arrow... when i press it i can hear a relay clicking but nothing seems to happen. what does it do?

R33 Gts-t Intercooler And Intake Mods
TUF250 replied to TUF250's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok i think im soughted with the intercooler. Intake is next! I am looking at the standard airbox with an apexi panel filter. - are these supposted to be the best on the market? what about the drift ones how do they compare? - are they a dry filter? - are they cleanable? -has anyone has success with making an air deflector to ram air up into the intake scoop? i played with this on my falcon and had good results thanks
