  1. Not sure whose cruise this is, but was posted on Antilag. Galleria Carpark Meet 9.00pm 9:30 Leave Cheers. -Chris
  2. This whole crack down on emissions is complete and utter bulls**t. I mean seriously, at this point in time, what do cars in this country contribute to total emissions outputs as a whole? I could well imagine only a fraction of what big business (manufacturers, plants, mining, energy etc) would produce in a year. This is clearly another money grabbing exercise but it doesn't appear that govt. will benefit hugely for it. Fair enough they will probably be seeing a lot more requests for cars to be passed over the pits or re-registrations and fines etc, but it's the 2 companies in WA that have the IM240 test facilities that are going to be literally laughing all the way to the bank. I just sure as hell hope that if I ever get pulled over that the copper is in a good mood.........
  3. Yeah apologies for not mentioning the source, I figured I would probably get flamed/shot or something Was pulled from LS1 forums.
  4. "Vehicle Safety and Standard's Information Bulletin Changes to Emission Testing of Light Vehicles in WA (April 2009) The purpose of this bulletin is to inform you about changes in testing requirements to assess compliance with emission standards. Background The Road Traffic (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 2002 specify the in-service requirements for vehicle standards in WA, including maximum emissions levels. These standards refer to the Australian Design Rules (ADRs), which are the national standards applying to vehicles at the time of manufacture and are administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. Australian emission standards for vehicles are generally based on European regulations, with acceptance of selected US and Japanese standards. In recent years Australia has been improving its emissions standards in line with more recently adopted European standards. New vehicles are much "cleaner" than they were a decade ago. Testing In WA Engine modifications may substantially affect emissions, particularly the addition of turbochargers and superchargers. Vehicles conversions from petrol and diesel to dual fuel, LPG or NG, or certain imported vehicles may also require testing in some cases. However, the lack of practical options for in-service testing of vehicle emissions has been an impediment to the Department for Planning and Infrastructure's ability to ensure that the WA community is able to benefit from the improvements to the standards applying to new vehicles. Although there is at least one company in WA capable of performing full ADR emission testing regime, these tests are expensive ($3000 or more per test). Authorities throughout Australia agree that in most cases it is unreasonable to expect that such expensive testing be required when assessing modified vehicles or imports. As a result, some jurisdictions have instead specified an IM240 test (for petrol or LPG powered vehicles) or a DT80 test (for diesel). These are abbreviated tests which approximate the ADR test regime but are simpler and cheaper to perform. Until recently, WA needed to rely on 5-gas analyser tests, as IM240 and DT80 test facilities were not available in this State. However, with the recent establishment of at least one IM240 test facility and the proposed opening of a DT80 test facility in the near future, WA will be able to specify testing procedures that are nationally accepted as a reasonable approximation to the ADR testing requirements used for new vehicles. It is intended to gradually "phase in" the new testing requirements, beginning with the more critical applications, such as turbocharger or supercharger fitment, and progress to other applications over time. IB-124A (Mar 09) Application date Apr 09 page 1 of 2 IB-124A IB-124A (Mar 09) Application date Apr 09 page 2 of 2 Policy DPI Vehicle Examiners will require the applicant to provide evidence that an IM240 test has been performed on the vehicle and that the test results have been approved by DPI Vehicle Safety Standards as indicating that the vehicle meets appropriate emission standards for its type and year of manufacture. It is planned to implement this policy over time, using a phased approach as follows: The following applications will require an IM240 test after 20 April 2009: o Engines modified by the fitment of a supercharger or turbocharger o Individually constructed vehicles (ICVs) o Engines that have been significantly modified to enhance performance (eg: with the fitment of a high performance camshaft) o When there is evidence of reprogramming of the electronic control unit (ECU, the engine management computer), or a chip swap. The following applications will require an IM240 test from 1 Aug 2009: o CNG and LPG conversions on vehicles manufactured after 2002 where the owner cannot supply evidence of certification testing (that is the kit installers will need to request copies of test reports from the kit distributors and pass these onto their clients to show the vehicle examiner). o Major modifications to the exhaust systems - where the catalytic converter has been replaced with one not OEM or where the operation of the catalytic converter has been affected by aftermarket modifications (such as extractors). In addition, the following applications require an IM240 test from 1 December 2009: o Newly imported vehicles manufactured prior to 1989. Vehicle Examiners will require the applicant to provide a bone fide IM240 test report for the vehicle, along with all pertinent checklists required from the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (VSB14). See http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa.....;/vsb_ncop.aspx. In the case of major engine modifications and ICVs, a covering letter from Vehicle Safety and Standards shall also be provided, verifying that the vehicle has met the pertinent emission standards. A vehicle which had a CNG/LPG conversion, a catalytic converter replacement, or is pre-1989 and has been imported, will not require a letter from Vehicle Safety and Standards if the report states that vehicle has met the pertinent emission standards. In some circumstances, Vehicle Safety and Standards may rule that an IM240 test is not necessary for the particular vehicle (e.g. an ICV that uses latest-model OEM engine and exhaust equipment, configured exactly as per the original manufacturer's specifications.) If this is the case, Vehicle Safety and Standards will provide the applicant with a signed letter to this effect. This letter must be provided to the Vehicle Examiner at the time of the examination. Vehicle owners who attempt to license their vehicle without approved test reports will be directed to the Vehicle Safety and Standards Section. The above policy will be closely monitored over a 12 month period and adjustments will be made to address any unforeseen difficulties." ohshit. (PS: Mods feel free to move/delete etc this as necessary, I was not able to find it anywhere else) -Chris
  5. I had a situation driving to work a few weeks ago whereby this bitch in a camry was right up my ass the entire way up westcoast highway (right back from where it actually turns into WCH in cottesloe) always up my ass, trying to get past me etc. I wasn't deliberately blocking her or anything, there was a car to the left front and left rear of me in, you guessed it, the left lane, so clearly she couldn't pass me. She's sitting there high beaming, tooting flipping me off etc, but I don't budge for bitches like this. So keep going, eventually left lane clears up and she speeds past me, then gets caught up in the left lane and I'm still in the right, cruise past. We both go to turn off at Hale road and she's behind me, so I stop ,get out and say exactly this "Your a f**king bitch, you are whats wrong with society and you're the reason why people like me get labelled a hoon because of what YOU do. F**k you." went and got back in my car and drove off when the lights changed, she hung back and didn't tail me anymore. That night, I was out somewhere but my wife gets a rather abusive phone call from some pissed off sounding english guy saying that I was threatening his wife and bashing her window etc etc wanting to know where I was and wanting to come round etc. Clearly she had taken down my plates and either she or he work for DPI or something because they were able to get hold of my home phone number. Fortunately nothing has come of it but it's a rather stark reminder that there are a LOT of F**Kheads out there.
  6. Skyryan, I love your picture, keep watching him thinking he's going to attack my monitor and steal my cold and flu tabs... "Manual" Enough said Sure that Mr Keets is right, 2 points. My brother got stung for it a few years ago. Not sure if the rules would have changed since then.
  7. How is it being a keyboard warrior when A: I have not insulted anyone or gone off my block and B: all I have done is explain my possition on a subject? Kids, they're everywhere.
  8. Whoa, ease up on the criticism. No need for it. I SAID it was my fault, I don't need you badgering me for it. I'm just a little dubious because everyone and anyone want to charge people for things these days, everyone has a right to be a little guarded in that regard, I have NO issue whatsoever shelling out the cash for it IF I think it's warranted/necessary. Just for the fact that he said that they don't reset themselves and that he still wanted to dyno it, telling me was $176 an hour (no worries as I said no issue) just seemed a little sus.
  9. Should have clarified. He told me that the settings will not have reset because the controller keeps it's program onboard, but that I should take it down there and book in some dyno time so they could "check and make sure". When really all the "checking" I needed to do was turn a dial and stick the "go" pedal in a bit. As for the company, I'd still have no one else but them perform work to my car. Wasn't having a go, was an observation over something trivial
  10. Hey Travis, found out the other day that cannot get heat resistant gloss paint... Damn. Aparrently it's all Matte. Sanded back the timing belt cover, used some heavy duty degreaser and cleaned it up, primed it and then sprayed it on the weekend. I'll post some pics up tonight if I get a chance.
  11. Stuff it, decided to do it the fun way. Took it for a spin around the block and changed the "MODE" on the boost controller and gave it a bit each time, went from 0.6 bar to 1.1bar in the space of 2 settings. Must have just reset to default MODE when the battery died. Thank f**k for that heh.
  12. Sorry mate, EBC? I spoke to X-speed and they reckon that these things cannot reset just by battery losing charge as they store their programming. Not sure about that though, think he was just trying to sell me dyno time. So I am thinking that it could be something like just the mode it's set on at the moment............. ECU is PowerFC
  13. Hey guys, Wondering if someone can gimme a hand. The battery in my car died on Saturday night, stupid me fell victim to leaving headlights on ... oops. Anyways, grabbed some jumper leads and started it, all good. However, since then I have noticed that it is not achieving 16psi boost which it is programmed for ... it's topping out at about 6psi. I have a Blitz Dual-SBC boost controller. Anyone have any idea on what could have happened? Could it just be the "Mode" ? If so it's currently sitting on Mode 2 (options of 1,2,3,M of course) so if I change the mode would that make a difference? Never had to play around with one before PS: Also, I have the instruction maual/product manual but it really is not that helpful. 12 pages long and nothing useful. Cheers, -Chris
  14. Going to go with some gloss black for now and see where to go from there Don't want too many different colours in there, probably 3 max. Just have to figure out what I want to strip and spray then go from there. Won't take long I imagine, just going to take some elbow grease.... as it was, took me just over 2 hours to sand back the belt cover heh.
  15. hahah, I'll give you a hand Reaper, what you have in mind ....
  16. Damn straight. Yeah took it easy on the last tank, managed close to 500, pretty pleased with that... Need to get me a S1 cluster now though coz I need to keep track of KM's traveled for work heh. I just sanded back the timing belt cover on the weekend too, gotta prime it and paint it a gloss black, just gotta get to the automotive paint shop and get the goods so I can do it this weekend. Might have to post some pics afterward though, I am starting to go through the engine bay earmarking stuff to strip and spray Gotta say it Trav, but your new GTR's engine bay has given me ideas hahah
  17. heh, unfortunately saying "it's only on our forums..." doesn't stop people from everywhere else seeing it and telling their mates, weeknight or not >.< But regardless, being a weeknight should deter some of the bogans.
  18. Reckon that one way to possibly thwart idiots dragging their ford/holden yobbo's along to cruises is to either grab numbers of the members who actually want to participate in the cruise and send out mass SMS say an hour before an agreed meet time for the cruise as to where it is. NOT posting the route on the forum and ONLY handing out maps to people who are the owners/drivers of their skyline. Either that or seeing as SMS is not very economically viable for the person organizing it unless they have a plan with an unlimited SMS cap, send out private forum mail messages an hour or 2 before the meet time. But either way, the day should be set in advance of course, then people just have to wait to hear where to head to as the meet point. -Chris
  19. The ONLY time you should buy one with a built engine is if you know exactly what is in the block, what has been done to the car and who did the work. Not just that but ALWAYS look for the guy who has receipts for everything aswel. I did and it was the best import purchase I have made. R32 GTR's are they way to go for sure. There are always GTR's floating about, but you just have to really have patience. Do the homework, know exactly what you are looking for, and what the guy has done to the car and if the work done is viable for you to maintain and upkeep if something goes wrong. Always make sure you have a spare few $K somewhere just in case heh. I'd probably recommend not looking at anything below the $20k mark. Good luck dude, go out, test drive a heap and see where you end up at. Remember that power is not the most important feature to look for as it doesn't cost an absolute arm and a leg to get power out of them. Also, learn how to drive them efficiently else they will burn a hole in your pocket at the petrol bowser heh. I managed to get about 450kms out of my tank this week and that's with running 700cc injectors. -Chris
  20. You definately misunderstood your mate There's no comission system in place for coppers handing out fines.
  21. Yeah, all well and good, but a dude showing ass to a police officer is going to land you in court regardless http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21...340-948,00.html <- this is the article in the news at the moment. Mr dickhead colin had the nerve to make such a gaffe as to insinuate that he would offer the WA Police a %12.9 payrise over 3 years and then say later on "sorry, my bad, that's not what I meant..." Either way, bear in mind that the WA Police still have a job to do and if your acting up bad enough, they are still going to do you for it. -Chris
  22. heh, or you could not buy a 370Z, go spend $20k less and have a BOATLOAD more power at the wheels in the form of a VE GTS. Z's are over-rated as hell.
  23. yeah that was a good point, when I was heading up the hill after Dave (thanks for that by the way Neuro ) I saw in me rear view, the lights come on on the undercover and pull in after the commodore aswel, gold. Reckon it was ride height.......... That thing was dumped into the weeds ... heh
  24. heh. Well as it were, when we were pulling out of the car park at Karrinyup, I pulled up to a give way area and indicated, and he was on the left of me over a concrete island and moving slowly showing no intent to turn right at all, so I moved off and then he charges up my ass and on his horn (I have the gunmetal grey R32 GTR). Ignored him. Then he follows me the ENTIRE way to Hale when me and the dude in the R33 (sorry mate forgot your name heh) took a left up Hale and the copper did the illegal left hook and cut in front of me, burning up the hill and pulled over the commodore. Laughed so hard.
