Cefiro A31 1988
Nic_A31 replied to Nic_A31's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
RB31DETT isnt a production motor, good luck finding one for sale, cheap. Gotta build it buddy. UPDATE: That thing I did with the intercooler piping, not happy, ripped it all out and welded in properly, gotta take some pics yet. Engine bay has been emptied out, front suspension and crossmembers down for a clean, again, pics on the way. Hopefully rolling again so I can get stuck into the new motor/drivetrain work. Not much has been happening on it lately, other Ceffy is on the road, on the way back from a (eventually successful) job interview, it died on me....just my luck. Having a nightmare finding the problem, 2/3 the way through manual gearbox swap now, also close to getting a 20DET halfcut for it too if I can't find the problem. -
Asia.....once saw on CarDomain "custom HICAS lock bar" .... castor rods welded onto the diff and the rear knuckle where the HICAS arm connects..... soo f**kin' dodgey over there.

Grilles sold pending payment. Taillights sold, pending payment. Headlights still for sale. I'm pretty sure you can buy those yellow condoms for the foglights from any auto shop, otherwise they'd be interchangeable with S13 or atleast easy to get from Nissan.

There's one on CarDomain with a Z32 VG30DETT setup in there. LINK HERE: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2587628 They're pretty heavy engines and use very very complicated vacuum and idle control setups....with that said, they're just over half the length of an RB, so better handling and weight balance, depending on their intake setup, they usually rev up alot quicker than RBs as well. (EDIT: on that note...they're not too heavy, around 170-200kg I think...I've got a block here, I rolled that halfway down the driveway by myself, where as with the RB, no hope) VQ is all alloy so you dont even need a crane to put the motor in, 2 person lift, but if you want VG I'd suggest you go forced induction. Best VG option is to get the VG30DE and add turbo's, so you have higher compression, and don't worry about internals, VGs will happily support over 1000+ horsepower with their stock internals all day. I know Z32 5 speed manual gearboxes can go into a Cefiro on a modified S13 crossmember., not sure about mounting the motor. It's a tight fit, so consider heat (ie steering rack), also consider maintainence......to change turbo's on a Z32 is an engine out job, so any mods you have planned, you'll want to do BEFORE it goes in, and make sure you spend some cash supporting the mods so they don't fail.

Halfway through manual swap. Now has black interior, the chord type stuff called "modern" in the brochures Series 2/3 taillights fitted. Pending hubs and brakes before it gets the R33 GTR 17"s on. Just wish it was going, for skids, cruising and new job

Ballpark figure $22.00 going by AusPOST website. Give or take a little, won't be certain until I package it. $22 is based on 01 - 02 KG @ 150mmx150mmx500mm ... Dimmensions don't affect price very much, sticker on the grille says "0.6kg - 0.7kg" Dashmats are $45 now? Yeah sure. One in black please.

$100 a week on fuel ? ... hell naw. $450 / 3 = $150 EACH. About what you'd pay for a Series 3 grille after shipping from Japan. -

Unless you've got glasses smaller than your eye socket, I wouldn't worry about the airbag forcing them into your eyes making you blind....besides the glass is in a frame, and its too flat, up against an air bag that probably won't be stiff enough to smash it anyway (in a bad crash, you'll hit the bag before its at full pressure, in a low speed crash, you likely won't even hit the bag at all).

Once you walk into Wayne's '....it all becomes worth it. That is all.

^ Do you really want me to answer that ?

Try O'Briens again...theyre actually $350 fitted, Jason tried twice, he had the same deal as you. $590 first time, rang back, asked someone else, $350 fitted. And they always keep on in stock in WA at any one time. Go with Wayne's Windshields if possible...blondie at reception is quiet nice indeed. Work on the opposite side of the intersection to them and have used them a few times with company vehicles.

Look at the date guys. Pretty sure the shell is long gone and I'd imagine most of the parts went with it. -

Jason will be in. Matt, maybe? What happened to that Dose It guy? did he recover from the burns for his LS1 conversion idea ? I can make something on Antilag if you want, there's a couple on there, Jimmah might come out, otherwise atleast a few four door Skylines that'll come out.a...unless you wanna keep the cruise quiet, say, under 10 cars ? -
I got an R33 RB20E dizzy today, it has a ROUND plug but same bolt in formation as RB30E (which is square plug, same as RB20E plug, but different bolt in pattern and slightly larger) i'd assume plug type differs with age of engine RB30E and RB20E (A31) are both late 80s....early 90 the Cefiro shifted to the same loom as R32/33, with round plugs in various places (ignitor loom, AFM, etc). Early model = square plug, late model = round sloppy 'ole ??

Wa /perth 4 Door Golden Era Nissan Cruise
Nic_A31 replied to Mr Eps's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Just for the record, YEARS ago there was a cruise organised on for WA members, between here and Antilag JaiK organised it I think...? Anyway, count me in, wheather I be behind a n RB20E or 20DET, I'll make sure I'm in. Cefiro's came with yellow foglights from FACTORY, standard....so, its is mandatory that we have at least 1 (one) tougé battle down Toodyay Road/ some kind of epic hills drift battle session at an early hour of the morning. -
Actually now that I think about it....the amount if disasembling the distributor I had to do .... they could be the same. I know that RB20E is different to 30E.....hmmm might go check sensor on my DET loom, see if it fits the E.
-
Arent the sensors different between E and DE ?
-
My 20E was doing this and I narrowed it down to CAS. Guy in the thread the other day had same problem and was CAS as well. July - the "everyone replace their Crank/Cam Angle Sensor" month ??
