  1. g'day mate! firstly how much do you have to spend?? The biggest tip i can give in regards to the "is it worth it" question is...use your brain. look out for any body damage, rust, discolour, check all the panels are the same shade of paint (this may indicate replaced panels). listen out to hear any strange noises coming from the engine, check if there is anything weird coming from the exhaust (get a person to hold a blank, white A4 peice of paper 30cm away fom the exhaust and rev it a couple of times. nothing should appear on the paper, only perhaps a few water drops if it has been wet.) I recently bought a R34 and the best thing i did was get a pre-purchase check. i used StateRoads and they are fantastic. i would highly suggest you get a pre-purchase check after you find a car you are serious about buying. in regards to the 2.0L question...i would personally get a 2.5L, dont get me wrong, the rb20de is a tough lil motor but it does lack the power because it is non turbo engine. 114kw in a car that has a curb weight in excess of 1300kg is not a good power to weight ratio. what do you mean by "feel much of an upgrade in power"? im going to guess you mean torque. if this is the case go the 2.5 because you wont feel much difference upgrading to a 2.0 from a 1.8L engine. Good Luck!

spotted a white 33 with a really angry "tough" guy driving, who wound down his window at the next set of lights and was swearing at me and my mate because i "flew passed" him.....me and my mate pissed ourselves...like he was saying shit like "why you fly pass me for"... anyway, that was the highlight of my day...some crazy guy losing it because i was "driving fast" in the lane next to him...
  3. haha...that really appealed to me ....digging up a post 3 yrs old and complaining because you cant reach him FAIL!

Cheers buddy! i turned to my gf and said 'holy f**k, thats a nice GTR' and she said 'how is that one different to yours'....i thought 'OMG'....haha
  5. i picked up my R34 25GT yesterday and i beleive those screens came stock in the non turbo's. mine is also in japanese and it pops up randomly when driving lol, dunno why that is? it also turns itself on/off as it pleases lol. as i said, its all in japanese, but i think its displaying some kind of error, im going to look into it later today. EDIT: The screen may of been an additional factory option, not %100 certain.
  6. mad's point does make sence, but if you love a certain type of car, doesnt matter if its turbo or not, go for it! good luck!

Spotted Silver R34 GTR @ knox...didnt see plates, looked really clean!
  8. it doesn't show the engine number, your correct mad. im fairly sure its the original engine though
  9. im going to be honest...if you choose to buy a turbo on your p's...your an idiot, the law is there for a reason. just buy a non-turbo car until you are off your p's and do things the right way, also, as an above post had said, insurance is going to be a BIG problem. i know you probally think turbo's are "fulli hektik bro"...but it isn't so cool after you get pulled over and lose your licence for a long time. Im not trying to have a go at you mate, but do things the right way. im on p's myself and everytime i see a p plater driving a turbo, i hope they get busted before they kill someone or themself. Just make the SMART choice! EDIT: GO R34!
  10. Stateroads are great. i just had a inspection on my soon to be R34 N/A, 6 page report, very detailed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
  11. thanks mad, glad i got this cleared up, one more question, what do i need to look for that indicates if its the original engine?
  12. thanks mate. my mind is at ease now!! Cheers for that.
  13. Hey guys, im picking up my R34 on friday but iit just occured to me this morning that my VIN and Engine number do not match. does this mean that the engine has been swapped in japan??? thanks. Also, i have had the VIN fasted and it all matches up, but now im unsure bout the engine. The VIN is: ER34010313 Engine number: RB25-292468A
  14. Thankyou mate, ill do some searches soon!!! Cheers!
  15. hey all, im picking my N/A R34 coupe up in 2 weeks, its in good condition for age, runs well, there are just some scratches, and minor dints i would like to fix. just a couple of questions, 1) there is a couple of tiny dints on rear bumper..how much would a 2nd hand one be??? or does anyone have one on here? car is white btw. 2) there is a minor dent on drivers door. anyone know how much or how easy it is to get minor dints out of doors etc?? thanks in advance!!
  16. yeah mate, i typed a contract which we both signed at point of handing over deposit
  17. could i get ER34010313 FASTED? i dont have engine number atm? do i need it? EDIT: what is colour code for the stock white colour on a r34??
  18. thanks for your responces guys, wont be able to get a pic for a while, the build plates are etched in, so no issue with the build plate...i now know what i needeed too know also, stateroads are doing the inspetcion as we speak, so ill have the report by tonight hopefully! wish me luck...lol..honestly though, the car seems in good nick and as i said, runs very tightly and smoothly ill let u all know how the inspection report goes!
  19. Cheers for ya help and advice mate...the compliance and rwc will not be done before inspection, obviously, so hopefully most of the things stateroads pick up will hopefully be done during compliance and rwc. random question: the xenon lights in the 34's, are they changed for compliance??
  20. cheers mate, i mean, there are a couple of minor dents, scratches on it...but nothing bad...stateroads is actually doing check today at 2pm so they will tell me what i gotta know. EDIT: the guy's name is Roy...cant remember the surname...car is in Fawkner
  21. 1) hmm...best way to describe etched...um...the plate is NOT smooth, you can feel the writing..if that makes sense....my dad told me its just the tool they use on all of them, its not engraved as there is NO depth. 2) i also know that the 60,000 is probally bs...BUT i must say that car runs VERY tight. 3) StateRoads is doing the inspection. 4) the guy regulary imports cars, so he after a easy sale, he does seem legit, he was offering information without us asking him...a good sign imo
  22. its a white 2 door 34 w/ sunroof. he is complying before sale, along with 12 mnths reho and rwc, it arrived in australia couple of days back, so obviously hasnt had time to be complied, all he has atm is a deposit. hope that makes more sense
  23. Morning, yesterday afternoon i put down a deposit on a n/a r34...couple of questions. 1) the blue plate under the hood/drivers side was etched in...i know if its engraved it means its most likly stolen...but i know etching is different, should i be worried? 2) it has not been regerstered in australia before and its going to be put straight into my name...again...suss??? Overall the car is in good condition, few dints, scratches, but mechanicly it goes great...60,000kms on odo Im getting a comprahensive inspection tomorrow, where the tester goes to his home. then the car is getting complied, then rwc, then rego...he is doing the compliance, rwc and rego he seemed like a nice enough guy, seems to import a lot of cars (he had another r34 and a toyota chaser at his house for sale), but you cant be to careful, ya know? if anyone wants to give anymore information, it would be great! Im buying through a private sale. Cheers.
  24. There not mate, my guess is he has a family or needs the extra room for whatever
