  1. So what exactly is the deal? I mean the car is designed for 17" rims right? Does it matter what profile tires you use? Can u just stick on 18" (or 19") rims???
  2. Do I need to be lowered to run 18" rims?
  3. Thinking of getting some new wheels for my '97 R33 GTS25T. It's got stock wheels at the moment. Give me some ideas of what rims I can put on and low profile tires etc. What sizes do I need? Can I put a slightly fatter tyre on the back? I'm kinda not too knowledgeable about these things. Don't want anything too blingy like with hubs that spin on their own or anything. Where's good in Perth central or S of river to buy and get fitted?
  4. How about an Electronic boost controller also?
  5. Time for a new BF who respects your vehicle.
  6. Rotator cuff tendinitis... Agony. ....oh yeah and the bloody washer jets that squirt water everywhere BUT the windscreen.
  7. Sure but if a cop asked you 'who was that idiot doing burnouts outside the airport' or driving like an idiot in some other scenario, it's a good opportunity to show the cops that Skyline owners are responsible drivers and citizens, and not reckless hoons. There is no moral defense to not telling what you know...why the fcuk should some irresponsible dick wad benefit from a mafia like omerta (code of silence) just 'cos he (or she) drives the same car as you? He (or she) is ruining it for everyone else potentially = selfish to$$ers. You don't owe them Jack. 'Loyalty' is misguided here.
  8. It's like that in the US...expensive euro cars like BMW, Audi, Merc have this 'prestige' factor. The only thing greater than their prestige is the dent your wallet takes to service or repair them. Quality cars of course but not my cup of tea.
  9. LOL nice one. Still you shouldn't be talking about 'doing the odd turn'...it's not big or clever. My advice - drive the accord for a few more years and get some road maturity. Don't become a stat.
  10. So if I did a 'stage 1' tune of say 3" exhaust, POD filter, bigger intercooler, electronic boost control, ECU, would that require an emissions test? Are those mods even legal, I've heard about 'illegal' mods What are the suspension rules? That is so retardedly ridiculous. I guess I can't draw my own on a post it note?
  11. Hi, I've been in Perth since 2006 (I'm a brit), just got an '97 R33 GT25T. Not being too familiar with WA laws though having not driven much...was just wondering about the following: If I add stuff like upgraded exhaust or turbo stuff (any mods to do with the engine) do I have to get a mandatory emissions cert that cost shed loads of $$$? Even if stuff is OEM. At the moment my car is all stock. That seems bloody ridiculous. What are the laws about rim sizes and stuff. I heard drivers got done for 'big rims'? I heard someone say you need sticker on your gear shifter to show its 'map' also? WTF? What's the law about being lowered etc? What is too low? I've heard loads on the media about the 'hoon problem', now with this legislation the police have discretionary power to impound cars right? A wheel screech, hard braking, revving too hard, etc is enough potentially to get a 48hr impound at your expense? The state has declared war on high performance cars (and their 'hoon' drivers) it seems? Can a cop just send me to get an emmisions test just 'cos they suspect I have mods? Who pays for that? Cheers
  12. Hi, I'm in Perth, been here about three years in total...was a pom in a past life. Anyway so I've not owned many cars, have driven lots with work (I work in the oilfield and have worked all over like 3 years in Saudi - mental carnage on the roads) like pickups and Camreys etc, no performance cars. Have been in a few STi's and Evos, S2000's but never driven. So in a mad spending/impulse binge I just picked up a stock '97 series 2 R33 GT25T 40th anniversary. My excuse...I just started working in the office and need a car to commute plus a buddy has an imported R33 and raved about it. It's only the 2nd car I've owned and I'm 31! I haven't driven since last year, damn it was weird driving it away. Guy at the yard said "be careful of it spinning out, take it easy". I guess he could tell I was pretty naive with these sorts of cars, still I'm fairly conservative at driving; I had a close call in a pickup in Saudi where I lost the backend...very educational and humbling. As I drove out of the yard I went to indicate left and hit the wiper lever instead *doh* - didn't realise the indicator was on the right - then almost stalled it. What a muppet! So I cruised around the industrial estate for a bit just to get a feel for it. Then drove back on the Michell sticking to 100 km/hr. Wow! big smile on my face. Smooth car. Loved it. Way quiter and more refined that an Evo. Just cruises at 100 km/hr like it is idling. No burnouts yet...in fact I think I hardly revved it hard enough to get the boost on. Don't want to get impounded under the hoon legislation. Speaking of hoons, a Green Commodore ute went past me on the Mitchell like I was going backwards...really gunning the V8. Fcuking dangerous.
  13. It's mind boggling the Cops can threaten to take the cars of people who just happen to be in proximity or associated with someone driving recklessly. Is that actually legal? The whole idea of Cops having these arbitrary and discretionary powers is anti-democratic and just WRONG. This is how Cops in 3rd world tip-pot dictatorships strut about.
