  1. What is this whole hate thing against R33's? I don't get it?
  2. Is it worth getting an xforce 'zaust or spending a bit more on a stainless HKS system? Sound = same? I was thinking of a HKS silent hi-power from the turbo back w/ 3" dump & hi flow cat etc
  3. Sounds cool. I'd like to do that at some point, but not right now. A work buddy of mine said he did it in a series 1 R33 GTST. Said he kept it 180 km/hr all the way. That is still a lot of hours driving though.
  4. A good reason to get one of those laser/radar detectors.
  5. I dunno, but I can't stand people who park on their lawn.
  6. Nah the bottom of the range Imprezas were cr@ppy FWD versions. There have been AWD versions below the WRX...various models over the years. Point is it's not fair to compare an STI version with a stock GTR since the former is specially tuned up by the in-house tuning team. It's apples vs oranges.
  7. I see your point but a GTR is NOT a tuned up GTT or GTS25T...it's very different (drivetrain, engine etc)...a different car basically, whereas an STI IS a tuned up WRX, it's just that lots of STI's were made compared to say NISMO models.
  8. Actually you should compare the STI version w/ say a NISMO 400R since both are tuned up 'in house' version of a factory high performance model. STI = Nismo 400R WRX = GTR GX = GT25T
  9. Yeah but that's ghey mate.
  10. So it was you doing the burnout on youtube?
  11. Nah that was some 81 y/o bloke doing 101 km/hr through the tunnel in the 'crackdown' a few months ago.
  12. Are you sure there are SPEED cameras in the tunnel? I normally do 'around' 80 km/hr through there and I am telling you...EVERYONE is going past me. That's alot of tickets.
  13. Ok I know this is a bit lame, but my two nomination to get the ball rolling: Tunnel - No cameras, and you get to hear the sound of your 'zaust (how cool is that? ), plus well...it's a tunnel! That 270 deg ramp from the Causeway onto Great Eastern/Canning westbound - test yer grip!
  14. ha ha yeah. No way do I want to drill holes through the floor pan or whatever.
  15. Good idea...or velco or something? Or could get a big thick piece of foam, cut it out so it fits in my boot, then cut out the shapes of my tool boxes etc and slot them in? I do wonder about the virtue of having a jack and even a spare tyre. I mean firstly it is extra weight , and I've got RAC breakdown cover anyway, and I don't drive much outside the metropolitan area. I got a puncture last week so I figure that make me now very unlikely to get another one for years also.
  16. Ok I've got a fire-extinguisher, a small pelican case with some basic tools, a hydraulic jack, and a spanner for my wheels nuts in the boot. So when I go around corners I can hear it all sliding about. I'm not drifting or 'fishtailing it'....just driving normal. I'd appreciated some help with this pressing matter. /yeah I know I should get a mount for the extinguisher but I've not got around to sorting that out yet. I was gonna secure it to a home-made bracket attached to the seat bolt rails.
  17. Yeah but doubt I'm gonna be able to drive off w/ someones rims to have 'em checked. One reason not to buy 2nd hand rims I guess?
  18. Excellent point. Both the WRX's and EVO have gotten heavier throughout their various iterations. It's a trend in car design. Evo II = 1,180 - 1,250 Kg Evo X = 1,420 - 1,600 Kg I'm guessing the Evo X GSR is closer to the upper range of that spread making it quite a bit heavier than say a 33 GT25T which is criticised for being heavy ironically.
  19. Hey just another quick one....if I buy a 2nd hand set of rims how do I know they aren't buckled slightly?
  20. Sorry I meant compared to a WRX.
  21. It's like if someone sleeps in your bed or uses your bath towel....you want to know about it.
  22. Same goes for Evo's - way overstated 'ricer' look IMHO. Just plain Nasty. The 90's WRX's and Evo's had more of a 'stealth' look. Not too much different to your average saloon on the face of it. That was cool by my book...like a HPV going about in disguise...let the engine do the talking. I really loved these cars back in the day and wanted one very bad. Almost bought an Evo IV a couple of years ago when I was in the UK but then moved back here but no way to import it. Those WRX's are good cars. I had a buddy or two own them and they are rock solid. Evo's are a little more engineered and costly to service. Main reason I wouldn't drive one now is WRX's are especially common here and driven by w@nkers just like the UK. The burbling, throaty exhaust that was once cool to me now just signals another to$$er. The Evo seems to attract the same types but who have a bit more $.
  23. If the air is flowing from the front how is hot air from behind going to 'contaminate' the air flow into the POD? I'm not saying you are wrong just wondering. It could be that dyno results which 'prove' a shield is necessary, only do so 'cos the car is not moving (on the dyno) and so no 'cool' air is flowing from the front - w/out a shild the POD is just sucking in air from 360 deg around it which includes hot air around the engine. On the road it won't be like that of course with the 'cool' airflow from the front?
  24. Yeah f**kly. I hate that 'hatch' look. At least the old Impreza looked kind of purposeful and 'rough and ready'...no oil painting of course. Plus in the UK WRX's are almost exclusively driven by Chav's w/ no clue about cars.
  25. Is shielding the POD really necessary? I was told by a 'knowledgeable mech' that you just starve the intake by doing so; what you may gain by having slightly colder air you lose with another restriction.
