  1. Id wait for the 2014 models with the hybrid setup. Thats going to be my next skyline.
  2. As said it just does not work like that if you use the correct parts which I listed. If you do your own research you will understand this its pretty simple stuff really. Regarding the turbo CVT. Nissan tested this cvt behind their v8 engines of hte era (1990's) and obviously the 3.0 turbo. I would suggest this CVT can take about 350 or so hp but the thing is gearboxes are usually rated in torque output. Once you turbo a 3.5 you are playing with fire with this CVT behind it. The heat generated by the extra torque will kill it sooner or later. Again I still say anybody that turbo's one of these is nuts. I dont care what anyone else thinks.
  3. Not sure what your getting at. If you look at where the lines are routed they come right out the front of the car past the radiator and behind the bumper into some bulbus thing which is probably either a filter or a thermostat or something... I forget and I cant look into it further as I sold my car recently. The B&M cooler has its own inbuilt bypasses to allow oil to bypass when its cold I have no idea how it works but thats what they claim. I fitted the B&M cooler and derale thermostat to my own E55 AMG and it works perfectly (bypassed stock trans cooler inbuilt to radiator which is a near identical setup to the GT8) There will be a minor difference in flow (due to the cooler itself and lines) but IMHO certainly not enough to make any difference whatsoever to this CVT trans if you actually look at how a Derale H thermostat works you will understand this. The operating temp is still the most critical part of the gt8 oiling system hence why there is multiple accounts of this car spitting the dummy when you take them on track... you can watch the best motoring video to see the most glaring account of this.
  4. Just bear in mind with the additional trans cooler you were talking about that this trans (and more importantly the oil) was designed to operate at 80degrees or so. The fluid is far more likely to allow slip once it goes outside a certain temp range which could damage the toroids among other things. I have seen the testing documentation on this from when they designed the extroid cvt's and Nissan was very specific on pointing this out in the doc! Not sure if they have a thermostat built in... (they probably do) so yeah an additional cooler will help you alot at trackdays but if there is no thermostat and the temp is not properly regulated it could cause as much damage as not having one! B&M do a cheap trans coolers and Derale to good 80deg thermostats. And yeah your nuts if you are even entertaining the thought of turbcharging this car with this transmission!
  5. Mine was clicking the door central locking for no apparent reason after charging the battery up. It was clicking like pretty constantly but not actually locking or unlocking the door. Really weird. Anyway i disconnected the main drivers window control with the central locking button removed the circuit board and sprayed it with contact cleaner its been fine since.... Anybody know anything about this? It was deff that circuit board as with it disconnected it stopped straight away. I could still lock and unlock the car with the key fob.
  6. Nissans been cheaping out on their paint on the v36's imo. Iv got a pearl white 2007 v36 and imo the 2005 pearl white stagea I had the paint was miles better and had alot more pearl in it. I see the paint code is slightly different. Stagea was QX1 and marketed as a special optional paint. The v36 has QX1 R it honestly doesnt jump out at you anything like the stagea did. And yeah iv had a few black cars now. IMO the only black cars id buy are the euro's better quality paint...
  7. Yep sorted, does have a button just needed to remove the cover and stick something the right size in there.
  8. Dont think so i'll have a look tomorrow. Must be a way of disabling it.
  9. Does anybody have any experience with disabling the park lock when you have lost your key? Yeah LOL.... Just need to push the car forward a couple of meters to get it out of the way until its sorted.
  10. No its series 2, its just not the same. Nissan has never made a good auto imo.
  11. The price of the cvt8 makes them an absolute bargain with or without issues. At the end of the day a 5 speed auto (puke) or the six speed isnt that difficult a conversion if it fails just a major pain the in the ass. I nearly bought one a month or two ago at auction with "transmission issues" if it was terminal which id be suprised if it was, then convert to six speed if its done properly it would practically increase in value provided you undertake the work yourself. I totally disagree about the 5 speed with paddels its just a total waste of time on that pathetic slow shifting piece of crap. This is coming from someone who has owned both at the same time though. People should be informed before purchasing one.
  12. 1900 for a speed sensor tell them straight up to stick that and go somewhere else. They are totally taking the piss. That must include the oil change. Im sure the guy in the other speed sensor thread got if for less than 350 and even thats a rip.
  13. I doubt its the oil sounds like an electronic issue to me. Get it scanned. Obviously if theres no codes its best that its scanned when the problem is actually happening. So perhaps you could ring a local dealer / someone with GOOD scan tool and ask them if they could scan it when the fault actually occurs... if you can get it to there stealership when the issue arrises. The fact that your turning the car off and its fine again when you restart says it all really. It does sound similar to the last speed sensor one..... Also theres a sticker under your bonnet which says to change the cvt oil at 100k.
  14. As long as it comes off a GT-8 it should deff be upgraded (front not sure about rear). Other than that i dont think anyone knows the exact answer to your question... if someone does id be intresting to hear some measurements as i dont think anyone has documented it yet.
  15. Fort he rear get aftermarket d bolts and slot the subframe its far cheaper than camber arms and should be fine for all but the ridiculous drops. Rockauto do them for the 350z/g35. Even did my own alignment with them afterwards comes up great im alot lower than 350z springs to the front camber isnt that far out imo, the rear looked alot worse after the drop.
