Jeez they're out today! ... Black Four door 34 with P plates up blasted past me at the south end of the Frankston freeway and was going nuts jumping around and in general getting up to mischief. I thought it was funny. He slowed down up the North end of the freeway... clued on... i assume thats because he knew that's where the fuzz like to hang out

Was Heading home a ways with a Really clean & looked after Blue 32 GTR Heading down Kingsway exit & Nepean highway at 3 o'clock today. I thought it was awesome How it was quiet and dignified as opposed to being "BRAAAAAHHHH LOOK At MEEEE!!" although being able to smoke pretty much anything that was on the road it has the right to Not quiet and dignified was the Tradie in the XR6 Turbo getting on the revs being angry with the Sunday drivers lol

Taking Off In 2Nd Gear
Little replied to rb20forgiven's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I figure English is a second language here; its hard to understand whats going on When i had an Auto skyline; a **broken Solenoid** in the transmission was stopping the car from going into 4th gear. It could be that if not any of the suggestions above. it cost $700 to get fixed. No changing the oil will not help. Finally is it possible whatever bits he has chucked into his car are not compatible? -
Hooray! Something i know about! I met a bloke named Andrew Mcduff who specialises in repairing car interiors. He usually does ferraris & stuff but he actually came to have a look at mine i think mostly out of a casual interest in skylines He made deep gouges in my centre console vanish without a trace and told me some of his tricks for car interiors. After being told I threw away the armor all because over time it takes the moisture out of your surfaces and makes them wear in the sun. His solution? "Glitz" leather protectant. Little white tub in the cleaning section of bunnings. $7.45. You can use it on plastic, leather, vinyl. I've been using it ever since. It does give a similar look to armor all but not quite as "fake shiny"

Flywheel Compatability Between Models
Little replied to Little's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks for the info; and thanks for the heads up hax. So as long as its suited for any type of RB DET or I'm a kid in a candy shop. I'll just have to make sure its got the extra 'T" designated. Wouldn't want to find myself holding three extra bolts with nowhere to put em... -
Afternoon gents, I was after a new flywheel for a 34 GTT s2. Got the part numbers from nissan, and after searching the web and ebay can't find much relating to 34's. However there's heaps of stuff for the 33's flywheel, so i'd just like to confirm if i buy a R33 flywheel assembly; they're compatible? There's a whole bunch of flywheels on ebay that claim to be compatible with Rb20, Rb25 and Rb26 all at the same time. The cynic in me says that doesn't sound right. Anyway; your pointers to help me not buy the wrong bloody part would be appreciated Thanks for your time.

Hey; Reviving the old thread. I have my airbag light blinking too. I haven't changed anything in the car recently so its pretty strange. Standard steering wheel and dash. I did have a major sound system installed about 4 months ago; and had the glovebox out to change the air con filters about 5 weeks ago. It happened when i started the car to get home from work yesterday. I followed the reset procedure and it stopped for a day; when i started her up this morning it was back again. I've found countless procedures for removing the light globe or covering it with electrical tape. Lets not do that. It's part of the safety system of the car and i'd really like to know why it is complaining. Bearing in mind the cause is still there because after resetting it did come back; my question(s) is: Why generally does the airbag warning light start flashing in 34's? If i went to Nissan would they Diagnose it or have no idea? What further steps could i take to find the problem? Good afternoon gents; Alex

I have more info now; I'll share. The part number for an R34 (and possibly some other models such as a stag or a 33) is: 23100-0v017 I went to Bursons parts first and quoted this number and they basically said; can't do it. It's a nissan only part. I asked about it being interchangeable to a Holden VL alternator and of course; no idea. I did go to Nissan on the off chance; the guy looked pretty ran off his feet lol. He confirmed my part number and he actually laughed when he saw the price. He said "its over a thousand bucks mate. Good luck" f**k that!!! What do i do?!
-
Thats awesome. It will be a hell of a lot easier to get hold of one of those; i'll have a look around for info and see what i can dig up.

Hey; I'm after a new or reconditioned alternator I'm not really sure how to go about it? My biggest problem is since we're on imports, when I go to mechanic and throw part numbers around; Nobody has any 32/33/34 skyline parts. I don't know many places that specialise in em. Perhaps someone can help me with that? I figure Nissan would happily get me a new one right? Except charge me enough to build an extension on their showroom; i can't really do that. Another option is to have my alternator reconditioned; except people i have asked said it's a waste of time; and they probably wouldn't have the parts to recondition it with anyway. Help!

I'm not very good at taking cars to bits; But i'd like to help by telling my experience. I had an NA 34 and i had terrible problems with its "coil packs" If: *you're getting that little yellow "engine malfunction" indicator on the dash and * you have already but in 6 brand new spark plugs; and you are still getting misfiring; it could be the coil packs. Bad news: a pack of 6 Splitfires (best option) off ebay will set you back around 450 bucks. Good news (sort of) i have my used (but still working) Nissan coil packs for my car which id sell individually if thats what you'd like.

Thanks charles; got it back together fine. Next time i might see if i can buy some kind of cleaner that has a fragrence to keep it smelling fresh. But its heaps better now. The air con blows probably about 30% more on each setting too. Guess thats what ten years of crap does. Thanks for the help.

Hey all; I feel like a bit of a spaz asking for help; but if somebody is familiar with this job i'd appreciate some help and throw some cash your way. I just want to wash and replace the air con filter in my two door 34. Since it hasn't been done in 11 years and smells like tokyo... I've found a guide on here on how to do it; looks like you have to remove the glove box; but as i was doing it; it all kind of went above my head a bit. Not very comfortable taking it all to bits without any guidance. Anyway; if you've done an air con filter on a 34 or similar before and you wouldn't mind showing me how to do it; i'd be happy to throw some cash your way. Moorabin, Victoria. Thanks, Alex

Heya; i know absolutely nothing about boost controllers. i hope; by the time i've had a bit of a read i'll be a little more enlightened; but additonally; i need reccomendations on which is best suited for what i will use it for. the cars a 34 gtt S2; I've been speaking with people at RE customs in vic; the plan is nothing ridiculous; i'm aiming for that stage 1 upgrade as its called; that squeezes the most out of the stock parts without costing a fortune. *air intake: done *free flow exhaust: done soon *boost control: planning stage I've read the info on what i should be expecting to get out of the stock bits; so looks like i'll be dialed up to about 10 psi and left there. from my understanding that's barely using them. The mechanic at RE was saying when they do the install; they'll give it two settings; one for the stock (and reliable ) factory setting of 7psi and the other their upgraded settings. So that would be the only requirement of the controller. it would need to have the ability to switch between two settings and uuuh thats about it. i don't really want to play with the thing. a mate of mine is offering to sell me his used gizzmo electronic controller with solenoid for around 200 bucks. i know so little about the thing i'm in danger of jumping into a bad deal. since the whole thing hinges around this solenoid; is it a bad idea to buy a used one? would the gizzmo be appropriate for what i need? Any advice; much appreciated.

Those Damn White Plugs In The Centre Console.
Little replied to Little's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
thanks for the replies gents. i found the biggest part was like was said; push them harder together; then lever then they came apart. it was still a tricky awkward unpleasant experience; but managed to get the job done... i still had to lever the top and bottom on the damn thing additionally to get it out. sapphire thanks for your help once again; you'd be pleased to know after taking apart the entire centre dash i finished what i was doing and put it all back together; and have done so without making a single mark or scratch anywhere. Seems i could teach a thing or two to some of the "specialists" out there... -

so the tabs at the top and the bottom of the plug don't matter? its the tab at the side which is the important one? -
Those Damn White Plugs In The Centre Console.
Little replied to Little's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
here's the pics. I feel supremely stupid for asking how to unplug a plug. But the truth is i've always struggled with these damned things. i got one out last year but practically destroyed it... Just need to know the technique. its tricky then you are trying not to damage your car. -
this is something silly that has always bothered me; you know how you get the centre console pieces out; and theres the white plugs in the back of the components; and you have to unplug them to get the vents out of the way for example? I can't do it! both due to age of 12 years being there; and awkward positioning im unsure on how to do it properly. Im there leaning across the handbrake; one hand holding the vents to stop them from scratching things; and with the other hand with a flatblade pushing it into those grooves/tabs on the plug... there seem to be three. one on the side and one top/bottom. do you have to relase all three at once? i've wedged the driver in there good trying to force it but that's probably not a good idea. guidance please! ill stick up a photo in a sec.

^^^ Full on storry. Hope the dopey truckey is tracked down and charged. Spotted about 10 minutes ago: R33 in the underground Carpark at safeway; moorabbin; south road. Chilling out with a bunch of bogans drinking and carrying on whilst revving the exhausts on their sv6 commodores. as i was heading out they all did standstills and burnouts (the 33 didn't participate but followed) and they filled the Carpark up with smoke and tore off. Man; that area is full of people that are 200 years old. doing burnouts amongst old people getting their grocieries? gah. Didn't see any SAU stickers. probably not on here. I wouldn't mind some SAU stickers myself though.

Hi Rekin; just my 2c worth; I just ripped out a brand new Alpine head unit and demanded i refund for its poor performance reading USB memory sticks. It was a 126BT model; it had A USB on the front; full Bluetooth capability; and An Ipod cable running to the glovebox. they go for about $300. If you change your mind and decide you want to use an Ipod; Alpine is arguably the best; and this head units ability to read the ipod was excellent. It had a good search function too. However if you are deadset on using USB sticks; avoid alpine. They have no buffering (IE they chop off the start of songs and take ages to load new ones) And they also have no preset equalisers IE: Superbass, powerful, natural etc. If you can get past they bluetooth thing; the DEH 7250SD i just bought is the best head unit i've had. Its USB reading is instantaneous and it has more settings than the F35 fighter jet.

Professional Installer Scratched The Hell Out Of My Interior
Little replied to Little's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Sorted. Just thought i'd briefly explain what happened. After the manager of the shop found out i wasn't happy with the final result he made every effort to get the car booked back in immediately; and did everything i asked him to change free of charge. One of the things that happened; they sold me an alpine head unit (they are a alpine specialist) that i wasn't happy with because it was terrible at playing through the usb socket. the manager went out of his way to give me a full refund for it (even though it had been scratched a little bit) and installed the pioneer unit i picked out instead. They also tidied up their wiring looms inside the console on my request and adjusted the sound settings for me and gave me a quick lesson on how to do so. And they did all of this in less than two hours. End result; quite happy with the setup i've got now; and i'll be going back there for future work. The lesson for myself and other 34 owners is however; that dash is extremely difficult to play with without getting a few bumps and scratches on it. If you are a pedantic shit like me that doesn't want to see any marks; might be better off doing it yourself if you can. In my case; i've found a gentleman that will come around and fix my interior for me. Perhaps i'll post up some pics once i get it sorted. Thanks for your support. It gave me the confidence to go in there and make my case. cheers alex -
Professional Installer Scratched The Hell Out Of My Interior
Little replied to Little's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Thanks. Its wise to get some perspective before going in guns blazing.. The dealer can't dispute his installer did the damage; because i went in the workshop and saw the guts draped on the side of the vinyl. I have a feeling His angle will be that i'm perhaps overreacting over a few marks But as we discussed thats not the point; there is a duty of care; and through being rushed for time cos they didn't start work on it early enough; the bloke did not take care. What also burns is I know they took more care when they did my fathers car; one of those v8 holden thingies. (cynasism intended) Anyway yes.. i will stop ranting here and put it where it counts. I wasn't able to talk to him today because he wasn't in; but i'll have a civilised talk and hope we can work something out. Regarding professionals that can fix this nightmare for me... know any in vic?
