  1. was gona say it sounds like flogged out castor rod bushes, til i read that ^^^^ next guess would be cv's...if u havent already id be making sure everything is nice n tight. i learnt my lesson the hard way
  2. Grey R35 visiting my work yesterday, number plate RRP-SSS i think it was, plate sounded familiar tho? thought it might be someone off here?
  3. "No change for vehicle owners yet Until the VSCCS commences, there will be no changes that affect vehicle owners or vehicle modifiers. Current ECS signatories will continue to issue certificates as they do now. Any vehicle that currently requires an engineering certificate will continue to do so. The processes for registering vehicles requiring an engineering certificate remain the same. Look at this page again in 2011 for more information on how the new scheme will affect engineering certificates." judging by this it doesnt sound like people that currently have an engineers cert are just going to be left alone. from what ive heard they will make it more difficult coz apparently they r going to be alot more strict on the guys doing the inspections.bet it gets alot more expensive too
  4. how bad would u feel if u had comprehensive and filed a claim that it was stolen when it was just around the corner absolutely hate it when people steal stuff other people have worked hard for, glad to hear you got it back
  5. did the cop walk over and just open the bonnet? neither a turbo or non- turbo come out standard with a pod filter but both of them can be fitted with an aftermarket one, and in NSW at least it is almost always illegal to have one fitted. the cops dont have to just see the turbo to know its a turbocharged car, it will say it on the vin# plate in ur engine bay, ur car will probly have badges saying its a turbo, and i would think your car should have an intercooler of some sort in it which is a bit of a give away..with the metal plate over the turbo, i assume your talking bout the heatshield over the turbo. this is there to stop heat transferring off ur turbo onto other engine components liek vacuum lines, wires etc. ive never seen a non turbo 33 engine but i wouldnt think it would still have the heat shield there, someone might correct me on that? so yes most cops, in particular highway patrol will be able to tell if a car is turbo with only a very quick inspection. if ur allowed to drive a turbo car anyway you have nothing to worry bout, but being on ur p's id be making sure you try and do everything by the book so you can stay out of trouble good luck mate
  6. dont worry bout it mate, i cop shit for mine being an old piece of ricer crap on a daily basis at work and i have a 34...just look at the fact that if u spent as much money modifying your 33 as the extra they spent buying a VE etc than urs would look a million times better... btw the latest shit ive been copping at work is that my bosses cars would beat mine in a race and they have a bentley continental, an audi rs6?? i think it is and a brand new m3...point is mate that for the years they were made the skylines are right at the top of the class, but ignorant people just make ridiculous comparisons with them all the time, maybe we should be flattered
  7. local one im in for sure!!
  8. i just got mine redone after heaps of defect trouble..ive got a full turbo back system, and it was running a good jap brand cannon, cant remember what brand now.. but i decided to put a varex muffler on it so i could shut it up...when open it runs as well if not better than the previous one and it sounds better, alot deeper note, not so tinny sounding..plus i love the fact that u can make it really quiet if ur out and about with cops around, or for the sakes of your neighbours i got mine modified a bit so it doesnt look like a varex anymore coz apparently they are frowned upon lol...maybe not the system for everyone, but definately worth a look
  9. i dont believe that they are a straight swap. i think the top half of the box is different, which makes the snorkel come out at a different angle. With a bit of modification an r33 one will apparently fit an r34 but im not sure bout the other way around...theres a few threads about this lying around http://www.skylinesa..._1#entry5287813
  10. yes you may..well i just want to use the stock airbox, due to too many hassles with getting defected, so i pretty much just want to make a snorkel the same as the factory one, but shaped slightly differently so the it will fit around the aftermarket intercooler piping. i was going to run a pod and make a heat shield and intake the feeds from the bottom of the bodykit but people are still getting defected even with their pods covered.. open to suggestions bout this if you have any other ideas?? at the moment it is running the standard airbox but its just breathing straight out of the engine bay so cant imagine it would be working too well
  11. haha, that he probably does, he might charge me $90 just to measure it but i might just ring a jap wreckers and get them to measure it up. dont take my word for it but im pretty sure an r34 one wouldnt fit, at least not without some extensive modification to it, i think the air boxes face the opposite direction
  12. Hey guys. im going to make a new snorkel for my R34 GTT that fits around my aftermarket FMIC piping, but mounts up in the same position as the stock snorkel. Only problem is that i no longer have an intact stock snorkel. So would appreciate it if someone who has one could measure the height of it so i can make sure it will clear the bonnet when i close it. thanks
  13. yeah i didnt know whether i should get it done in black or not, but decided i would like it to stand out a bit more. doing it this way ive at least got the factory bonnet still in factory paint down in the back shed just in case i have any troubles with the fibreglass one. what colour is ur car at the moment?..would love to see some before n after photos of whatever u end up doing!!
  14. sorry it took me so long to get the pics up, im pretty happy with how the bonnet came out, thinking of getting the mirrors done 2..open to ppls opinions
  15. cheers guys the bonnet i got is from blits in queensland, i have already got it fitted to the car n the fitment is really good in terms of it matching up with the factory gaps between the panels..but actually fitting the bonnet was a real pain. The main bonnet catch was about 10mm too short, but the safety one was long enough, and it didnt make it over the strut brace or intercooler piping. i got in undercoateded today and the panel beater said it was one of the best fibreglass bonnets he's ever seen as it had hardly any pinholes in it, but unfortunately the undercoat had a bit of a reaction with the gel coat so it wont be getting painted til early next week now will post up pics and mods list when its sorted tho
  16. Hey everyone, have been a member for a while now but have made an introduction thread... i bought my 98' model R34 GTT in December 09' and loved it straight away..until august when i had a run in with the DECCW due to problems with the previous owner, and have had nothing but trouble since. However all seems to be sorted out now so thanks you to all the people who have already helped me out with info and advice. I live in the Windsor area, NSW so will hopefully see a few of you around. Bonnet is getting painted this week so will put some pics up soon. Lee
  17. and also wondering where u got the Sau sticker u have on ur drivers side window?? looked on the merchandise page n couldn't find it, thanks
  18. hey charles are you still wrapping parts for people?? am keen on redoing several interior parts on my 34 gtt coz of the scratched factory paint. would probly be looking at doing the whole centre console, including triple gauge cluster as well as the window switches and other interior door parts you have done, and just the door pillars on the exterior, i'm in sydney so would hopw to send eveything down in one box and just live without them till u can get them done.pm me with a rough quote if possible, cheers
  19. cheers guys, have all the parts i need now thanks. now just have to get through the IM240 test, i think its called, to clear my intercooler and then hopefully its all over and i can put my car back to normal
  20. that one is dated from last year so didnt think it would still be available, thanks for looking tho..have had a few offers from ppl to borrow the parts i need thanks alot everyone, i got through the decibel test with a solid 82 average, but they got me for the FMIC so have to go get the RTA emissions test done on that then all sorted, hopefully.
  21. it sucks really bad, n its next to impossible to get a standard gtt airbox in nsw, qld or vic. so im getting one shipped express from Adelaide and praying thatit all fits up right..cheers guys
  22. anyone able to help out?? will only need it for a couple of days and will pick it up and drop it back off as soon as the defects cleared and pay a hundred bucks for your troubles..have tried everywhere i can find to buy one but no-one has one
